Okay. This was a really really bad and I've vaild points. As I can't discuss my problems with this book without going into spoilers, I'm sorry but this review (point 3) is spoiler filled.

Point 1:

The characters were so fake and had no personalities. The writing was too fast making it less compelling for a reader. I hoped this book was a little bit more in depth. I a character is dealing with depression than where was her syndrome?

Point 2:

Brainless plot with an okay twist is the reason I'm giving this a 1 star. This book was titled as Romantic Thriller where there was no thrill and cheap romance

Point 3:

Now coming to the point I want to discuss badly. This book is a Red Flag and the relationship between our main characters is a RED FLAG. Like... how can you have a realtionship with your sister's husband who was an ABUSIVE HUSBAND still you fell for his hotness?? And you lost your Virginity before marriage (which is strictly prohibited in Islam). Like You know that this person used to abuse and assault and is Killer of your sister and still you fell for him??? Like please??? Explain??? I cannot believe this book is written by a MUSLIM author. If we for some sake take religion out of this book. The relationship still is too problematic.

When I discovered that Sara Naveed's new book 'The Cold Heart' was coming out, I was very excited. Sara Naveed mostly writes romance fiction, but each of her books focuses on a particular topic, which make her books fascinating. I've read most of Sara Naveed's books and so was looking forward to reading this one.

Zaira is a student at the university. She is studying literature and is hoping to become a writer after finishing her course. Zaira doesn't have any family. Both her parents have passed. Zaira has an elder sister Zoha, but they are estranged and they haven't spoken for years. One day Zaira gets a message from her sister asking her if they could meet. After some reluctance, Zaira agrees. This chance message leads to one thing after another, as Zaira is hurled into a succession of events in which she doesn't have any control, and before long someone is dead and the needle of suspicion points to different people she cares about, and the pages of the story zip by rapidly as we try to find out what happened during that fateful night.

'The Cold Heart' is very different from other Sara Naveed books. It has romance, of course, which Sara Naveed fans expect and look forward to. But it is a thriller, and it is a dark thriller. There is a sharp edge to it and as the events of the story unfurl, it is hard to tell who is a good person and who is bad, and sometimes we seem to see or maybe imagine some hazy clues below the surface and even suspect the narrator. I can't tell you anything about the plot though and what happens in it. You have to read the book and enjoy its pleasures yourself.

I enjoyed reading 'The Cold Heart' and I read it in one breath. It is fast-paced and gripping, and the pages turn rapidly with a life of their own as we zip through to the end to discover the mystery.

Have you read 'The Cold Heart' or other Sara Naveed books? Which one is your favourite?

One of the worse romantic books I’ve read by a Pakistani author. Please don’t read it. The plot is plain stupidity.

1/5⭐ (well, -5 to be precise)

Let me save your time and money and tell you, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK. This is my first ever 1 star review (if only there were an option for negative stars).

Romance is not my taste of a genre but I only picked this one up because it promised elements of thriller (not that there was much of it) and also because it's a Pakistani author which I would always like to read more in the future but not this one no.

Such a poor image of Pakistan, all type of cheap romance, weak plot, plot holes to name some. How could you possibly fall in love with the person you saw rape your own sister, you saw it, with your own eyes, and yet to fell for the same rapist, you felt weak on your knees for the person who RAPED your sister. Just honestly, FUCK THIS BOOK.

Least favourite book of 2022, no WORSE book of 2022 (The Cold Heart). I am definitely not reading any of her other books, just be some another cheap romance with totally poor representation of Pakistan.

The cold Heart is a story of two sister Zoha and Zaira who due to some reasons get separated but after six years they get in touch again with new beginnings or should I say new horrible beginning. Zaira was always find of her sister and her lifestyle but when her sister Zoha died everything went upside down. read the book to find out who's suspicious.
.
After few chapters each time you'll get new twist. Every character including Zaira and Zoha put me in curiosity that my head was literally spinning but I loved it.. In each chapter I was suspicious about each character, it was so hard to label one character as murderer of Zoha. That was the actual fun about book looking for the muredere. A beautiful thrilling movie was clearly happening in my mind while reading each and every scene. This should be on screens actually 🤎. So much going on in the book. I kinda loved Farid's character so handsome and loving and how his looks and voice was described 🙊 Super attractive 😭Fell in love with him.
.
Zoha had a small part but an important part of course for creating the whole scene otherwise it's wouldn't be possible without her🤣 don't wanna spoil further unintentionally because I'm getting excited writing this review 🤎just go and get the book you'll love it. I need to read this genre more 🤎
.
✨P. S: I did find a bit of coincidence with name and professions of both sister with author and her sister as well. Zaira is writer (like Sara the writer) and her sister Zoha is fashion lover (like Ayesha is the fashion and makeup blogger). could be my own point of view and could be a real inspiration author took from her self. but good thing.

Review:
I have read almost all the books of Sara Naveed, i was so excited for this as well. This book is a fast reading.
Book's plot is very well written and unpredictable. At the moment, the reader has a thought of the next scene, and at the second moment, it happens against the thought. Bravo!!
Page by page curiosity level up with louder heart beats. It's a true thriller that keeps the reader hooked through all of it.. it was difficult for me to leave the book and do chores. It was a roller coaster of emotions for me. Sometimes, i found tears in the corner of my eyes and, on the other hand, laughs. Psychological thriller was a new genre for me, and i enjoyed it a lot.
The book is a real show of sweetness and bitterness of the life and combination of emotion, a movie of suspense, running in mind with reading, it was very difficult to accept the end, just like zaira i also want anyone else as murderer.
Albeit, discussing story may harm other's charm, but in my opinion, "all glitters are not gold," and you can not judge anyone by apparent happiness that they have their own reasons of survival. Alongside, nobody can ever walk in other's shoes because Allah has made perfect each person in their own way. Some gaps can not be filled by anyone, and i think we should leave that space empty instead of putting ourselves in a problem. As far as today's life is concerned and it is linked with the book, people in search of happiness found guilty and unexplainable pleasures. Sometimes, we need to have enough control over our thoughts and wishes. Your siblings are the true blessing of Allah. We can learn it by the end of the book, where a sister puts all her efforts into getting justice for her sister while putting her own life in danger.

The story is about two sisters who unexpectedly separate apart six years back. But they are together again. The relationship between these two were amazing in the past, but now it's like they don't really know each other. And after they met, one ended up dead, but why??? Who is responsible for the murder? The other sister or someone else is framing her???

Thank u so much to the author for sending me her amazing work. This is my 2nd book by a Pakistani author, and i really love it. From past 6,7 years i am a thriller reader may be that's why this book is not a thriller for me because it lacks the qualities of twisty thrillers. But still, the final twist was good enough, and you will never regret reading it. I will definitely try to read more of her books because i like her simple writing style.

Sara Naveed is a refreshing addition to the already depleting short community of English language writersin South Asia. She has a unique style and knows the art of story telling. She never loses grip over the plot which is neither boring nor too fast to catch up with. Her choice of words and making of sentences is fascinating. She captivates the imagination of reader from the start and then leads him into the narrow streets of events unfolding the story of a middle class urban girl in mid-twenties.
Highly recommended for modern fiction lovers .

This book had everything going on, I did not get bored at all. I managed to finish this book in one day. It got very addictive. Just wanted to know what would happen at the end.

I had a guess what would happen at the end , got it partially right even though I was very surprised of a certain twist in there which I didn’t see coming.

Really enjoyed it, the author covered serious themes in there aswell which was very well handled. This would be very good as a drama adaptation or converted into a movie, it would be awesome to watch.

I will be giving Sara naveed other books a try aswell. Hoping I enjoy them aswell ☺️❤️‍🔥

One little flaw: I don’t like the way the book has been printed. The words are right at the top of the page, it’s like the words have been eaten by the paper, I do wonder if her books that are printed in Pakistan is it the same or different. I like the cover though ❤️‍🔥

Sarah went from writing about ETERNAL LOVE in 'Our story ends here' to NAILING A PSYCHOPATH in 'The Cold Heart'.

I cannot believe that this is the same author that wrote 'Our story ends here'.

STILL CAN'T FKIN' BELIEVE IT.

-The h sleeps with the widowed husband of her sister.
-Turns out he killed the sister.

-Let's not talk about how sick above two points are.

-Oh, did I mention she lost her V-CARD TO HIM!?

I DID not expect this from an ASIAN author.

I am still in shock because there will never be something as beautiful and unique as 'Our story ends here'. And it saddens me that the same author has gravitated towards THIS genre.

Every book after OSEH, is getting worse.

If Sarah is reading this.... PLEASE REVERT BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL STYLE.

Trope

Psychological Thriller

Plot

Zaira and Zoha are sisters who haven't seen each other for 6 years. When they unite, things get complicated when Zoha gets murdered. That is where Zaira hops on a mission to find Zoha's culprit.

Review

I'm not gonna lie, I was invested in the thriller aspect of the book. I mean I wanted to know who killed Zoha.

But the thing which was annoying me and why I rated it 2 stars was Zaira's personality. She basically didn't have a personality. It was mentioned in the book pretty early that she was not into relationships BUT she got interested in her brother in law JUST few days after her sister's death. I MEAN ARE U KIDDING ME. Also she witnessed the abuse and yet she believed whatever Farid was saying was beyond me.

Review of The Cold Heart
4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The novel is full of thrillers. The story is about relationships, and how girls fall for guys and make bigger decisions in life because they are in love. The novel is about how things and feelings change, and how relationships fade. When the cycle of love is over they know the reality of life.
This novel is written beautifully, and the plot is good its shows the bitter-and-sweet combination of life. You can give it a read if you want.

This is another masterpiece of my favorite author Sara Naveed. I got a signed copy of this book and I couldn’t be happier. When this book was launched I was excited because I loved every single book of Ms Sara. But while reading this book, I realized it was not a typical romance novel. This is a romance thriller with a lot of suspense and my God this book drives you insane. I sacrificed my sleep just to finish this and made it to the end in one day 😀 All thanks to the author for putting out a different kind of story for us romance readers. It was really mind blowing and the story shows how much effort has been put into it to make it worth the hype. Throughout this book I never felt this story is jumping to the end. In fact I felt every character was given justice, be it an innocent one or the evil one.

Story revolves around Zaira and also told from her perspective too. She is studying literature at university and hoping to become a writer. She didn’t have any close relations. Both parents died and one sister who wasn’t on talking terms with her. Ziara has always led a life of misery. One day out of the blue she got a message from her sister. She thought this might be a chance of something good in her life. Her best friend Azlan also convinced her to giver her sister Zoha a chance to med things between them. Little did Zaira know that her life was going to turn upside down now. She got herself into a murder mystery and then all the courses of events unfolded a different reality. One thing I must say that Zaira’s gut feelings were very strong throughout and she was proved right too. That was something I appreciated the most. I kept on thinking why this book has the title of Cold Heart when Zaira was such a sweet and innocent person. But when the cold hearted person was revealed I was shocked and I couldn’t help but hate that person. The kind of thriller romance this book has, it makes you wanna read it in one go. The plot twist makes it even more interesting and make you want to believe Farid.

Overall this book is a collection of so many emotions. I liked the suspense and dark thriller secrets it has. I am super proud of Ms Sara Naveed and the fact that she is a proud Pakistani author. I really recommend this book and all other books of her. I would really love to read whatever next book she will write.

My favorite quote from this book was “Sometimes, you have to let go of the past and think of the future. But before you try to do that, you need to learn to live in the present.”
Let me know yours ❤

The ending leaves you with mixed feelings, the writer has good skills as it starts by piquing your curiosity and then throughout the story, but there are some major major red flags before diving in.🚩

The character of Zaira comes across as weak, lacking a strong personality, like every time she's drooling over the guy's looks and ugh that was so frustrating.
I found myself yelling,
Get over it girl, Get over it!

Especially when she discovers his ruthless side and learns about his mistreatment of her sister and his affairs, it's hard to comprehend her reactions.
Yet we have to get convinced that the writer attempts to portray him as an extraordinary manipulator.

The other thorn in flesh!

-No PG guidelines whatsoever!!
And the way writer explicitly described all those shoddy scenes. I didn't expect such lewd details at all from our writer.
Non-muslims write all kind of shits we know that and
if there's so much thirst to write such trash then atleast write with decency, what's with all that perviness in the name of romance.
Just stfu and say it what it is!! 😑

While some scenes initially tug at your heartstrings, but the story takes a complete dark turn towards the end.

Which was quite heartbreaking as soon as the lies were exposed but I was doubtful of him since the very beginning like all other characters. Still it did hurt as the story unfolded.

Plus,
How can someone be such a bastard yet so caring? was each and every action of his was an act? what about the meeting with Sophiya and all that she told about him? He made her say that either?
His actions and intentions are shrouded in mystery.
His good relationship with his son as a father and his desire for a better life with Zaira contrast with his dark side.
He seemed like he liked her many times or was he pretending all the time?

What was his plan, and what was his genuine personality? The story leaves you confused.
Was he just a psychopath then what about the few good things, like he quit drinking, left sophiya,
never forced himself on Zaira, she herself was already so desperate and made the move.
Yet at the end there was complete shift.

The lack of clarity throughout the narrative makes for a perplexing read.

A dark, addictive page-turner that leaves you breathless!
Unputdownable—kept me hooked till the very last page! It's a Blend of Love, Loss & Suspense

The Cold Heart by Sara Naveed is not just another love story—it’s a haunting rollercoaster of emotions, betrayal, and heart-stopping suspense. From the very first chapter, I was pulled into Zaira’s world, her dreams of becoming a writer, and the sudden chaos when her estranged sister re-enters her life. What begins as a story of reconciliation quickly twists into something darker, and every page kept me guessing.

Sara Naveed has crafted a narrative that is both beautifully written and chillingly tense. The emotional depth of Zaira’s character made me feel every bit of her heartbreak and confusion, while the layers of mystery surrounding Zoha and Farid had me hooked until the shocking conclusion.

What I loved most was how Naveed broke away from her usual romance style and stepped into the psychological thriller genre with such finesse. It’s bold, gripping, and a complete page-turner that proves how versatile she is as an author.

If you’re looking for a novel that will keep you awake at night, turning “just one more page,” The Cold Heart is the book for you. A perfect blend of romance, suspense, and drama—absolutely unforgettable!

Best of Luck !

When I came to know that Sara Madam had done with her fifth novel and that it had been published, I found myself over the moon. I was ecstatic and excited to get the book in my hands and dive into the world of fiction characters. Much to my surprise, I found a lot of suspense in this romance thriller, The Cold Heart, as I have never felt that much depth in her previous novels. I loved it and I recommend this interesting novel full of romance, doubts, fears, thrills and tears to those who are fund of that sort of stuff. I bet Sara has done a lot of research before and while writing this mind-blowing stuff. I have always been a biggest lover of her novels because of umpteen reasons. In fact, it was her novel which I started my novel reading journey with. Since then, I've come across lots of novels and authors. Still, she's the best author for me. As far as I know, she's the only English novelist who's gone that far in Pakistan. I love her and I can feel pride in deep corners of my heart for her. Now, I am looking forward her upcoming novel, Maybe it's You and Me. I'm impatient to feel it in my hands. To much of my ecstacy, it's cross-cultural romance story. It means she must be working on something that would take us by surprise.

The first author I've ever read in English which is (proudly saying) a Pakistani, Sara Naveed always manages to impress her audience with his writings.

Sara Naveed is the author of five books. All her four books were also amazingly written with full of romance but this book is utterly different from her other books.

The cold heart is roller coaster of emotions and suspense. It carries a lot of suspense that you want to complete it in one siting. While reading it you go through with many emotions at once. Shock, sadness, sorrow, love, happiness, hatred, manipulation and excitement.

The plot is twisted that enhance your interest in reading it. It is written in very understandable way and in simple language that everyone can easily read and enjoy it. The characters are built very passionately. The sisters Zaira and Zoha were extremely bold. I really enjoyed their courage. They were drawn different but one thing that's common in them were their passion, boldness and courage.

The story was made twisted with strong characters. It is full of suspense, thriller, romance and all emotions.

I really enjoyed reading it. Highly recommended! Worth read.
