Monster Empire #3

Monster Empire 3

Rate this book
The homestead has become a thriving empire of adorably murderous kids, and it looks like Clan Jewell is truly destined for greatness.

Just as long as Ken can keep their enemies at bay and his pregnant monster wives from slaughtering everyone within a ten-mile radius.

Every good soldier has a plan, though. All it’s gonna take is setting up an underdark thieves’ highway and robbing the most powerful man in the region of all his granite.

Which would be a hell of a lot easier if monsters, bounty hunters, and the duke’s soldiers weren’t after Crazy Ken’s family.

2 and a half stars. my least favorite yet
"The homestead has become a thriving empire of adorably murderous kids,"
And right there is my first big main problem with this book. These kids are not adorable. They need a good ass whooping. They need to learn some manners and some self control. Ken Jewel needs to get those little hellions under control.
Oh I get that this is supposed to be funny, but it is not. Any book I read that makes me root for child abuse is not a book I'm going to enjoy. Nor do I enjoy the way MSE tries to make animal mutilation, torture, and casual murder seem like slapstick. If he, or anyone had pulled it off I'd be amazed by his talent and admit that this author had me laughing at subjects that I find reprehensible. That takes amazing talent that just isn't on display here.
Big problem number two. There is a plot hole so big big that you could drive a shipment of stolen granite through it. This plot hole could have been explained away so easily, but why they have to do it the dumbest way possible is never mentioned.
So I get to watch the main character do everything the stupid way wile gritting my teeth over his kids and wives behaving like actual monsters. not cuddly misunderstood people who just look different than you and I, but creatures who delight in pain and misery even if inflicting it would destroy them.
I did not find this book to be 'Adorable'.

This series started out OK, now it has deteriorated into a mess. The mc has no presence he mostly just do as he's told, and will never hold anyone in his family accountable for horrible behaviour. Anyone who gives this 5 star must have a fetish for animal cruelty and human torture.

Loved it. This is a fun read. If you have read the first two you will enjoy it. More family craziness and have to deal with a crazy pregnant orc. Can't wait for the next book.
