To be denied at the threshold of victory can be crushing. Max and his friends have sacrificed much to achieve their goal and restore the dark. They are battered and bruised, yet now they find another legion of powerful enemies barring the path ahead, occupying the very castle Arinna must reclaim.
Any sane person would throw up his skeletal hands and be done with it all but not Max. He's more powerful than ever and there's no chance in hell he's going to give up without a fight, whatever the odds. It's time for the team to come together, bringing everything they have to expel the forces of light. The conflict will take them to places they've never been and ask more of them than ever before. With only hours of Max's time remaining, it will be far from easy, but nothing of value is.
I am Tim Paulson, writer of fantasy and science fiction.
I'm currently writing the Bone knight litRPG series. It's fun to revisit the game worlds I enjoyed when I was young. I grew up with Final Fantasy, Mechwarrior, Dragon warrior (known to many as Dungeon Quest), and X-COM. These games, along with a whole lot of movies and books, have informed what I think is cool: Impossible odds and grave decisions with monumental stakes.
Bone knight book nine, the finale for the series, is currently underway. After that is complete, I have a new litRPG series already planned that should come out in time for Christmas 2022.
Also: Audiobooks are on the way and a Boneknight RPG game is currently in development.
If you've enjoyed my books, please leave a review.
And now the end is here. We have been with Max and the gang for nine books and I am sad to see them go. This was one of my favorites in the series. I like when the book heavily focuses on our main crew rather than doing off storylines. The crew is Max, Raeg, Arinna and Trina. Each character has their own distinctive “voice” which has developed over the series. They have their own wants, fears, weaknesses and strengths. Paulson always does a great job at building unique, character driven stories. They all feel like real people to me. I got to where I really loved all four members of our team.
Max has been my favorite since the very beginning however. His humor and quick one liners have me snorting and looking like a big loser while reading. There are just too many Max quotes to put in here. If you want to laugh, he is your guy. I am very impressed with his character growth throughout the series as well. The Max from book one, page one isn’t the same guy at the end of this series. It is rewarding to read people changing for the better.
You get everything with this newest addition. You have action, humor, friendship, teamwork, setbacks and leaps forward. It really is worth sticking around until the very end. You get some much needed answers that you have been asking since book one. I am glad that I got to be a part of their journey. The series and especially this book never goes in directions I think it is going to. I am always pleasantly surprised when there is a twist or an unforeseen complication coming along the way. All the way until the end this series constantly had me guessing on how exactly our team was going to triumph. Readers will not be disappointed with this last installment.
I’m a person who once I start a book I have to finish it to the end no matter how good or bad it is. By the middle of book one I was just kind of like it’s good but I’m not sure if I want to read the rest of the series. It wasn’t really gaining my interest. But but but but, when I got to either end of book one I was floored. Max was awry!!! It took me a week and a half to finish all 9 books because I just couldn’t put them down. The characters are so interesting, I felt like I was part of the party too!! The Light, The Dark!!! Arinna and Max!!! Omg!!! Ok so Scruff and Mytten are my fav! I’d definitely like to see more Max and Arinna after this!! Thank you so much Tim!
A solid book. Except for this one fight scene in the middle that was TERRIBLE! It wasn't that long, but I had to walk away from it twice. I think that it was supposed to be this exciting 'can't win' scene, but it just came across as 'keep making the enemy so powerful that they can't be defeated', but was actually just bad. Fortunately I was able to push through it and get to the end, which was pretty good. Tom out
As usual, I started this fast-paced suitable-for-all paranormal RPG quest series at the end and, although there are probably spoilers for the earlier books, it does work as a standalone, taking two days to read. It is fine writing and I urge you to read the series properly from start to finish. I had an ARC via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary review.
It's just really nice to have a series complete. The whole thing had a good undercurrent throughout and solid story arcs that didn't get stale. Personally, the spider was yucky but even my arachnophobia didn't let me hate it....lol. Imagine...a spider charmed me. Good solid writing! Thank you.
What a great ending novel for an incredible series. I laughed out loud so many times (geez sometimes reading in public...d'oh!) as I was entranced with the story. Thank you.
