Four Decades – The Prose of My Life is a collection of forty poems by Dr. Shruti Shankar Gaur, Founder of RIEDU, to celebrate the four decades of her life. The publication of this book coincides with her fortieth birthday. It's a sacred birthday present to all the young readers including her younger self, who are still decoding the meaning of life, their place in the world and ways to navigate through.
Four Decades is an odyssey. Her poems explore the various facets of being an imperfect mother, an affectionate wife, an amateur entrepreneur and educator, a novice thinker and writer, a hard-core dreamer and doer, a true seeker, and an unusual sinner who keeps on trying. The book is a reflection of her core, as she bares her soul. An inclusion enthusiast and an empath by heart, Dr. Gaur’s poems evoke the pain and bliss of life in a poetic way.
Dr. Shruti Shankar Gaur is an inclusion enthusiast and an empath by heart. All her life she has been a keen observer which explains the nourishing depth in her thoughts. However, her strength lies in feeling deeper. An avid reader, Dr. Gaur holds a Ph.D. in Inclusive Education. The University Gold Medallist, recipient of Certificate of Academic Excellence by the Ministry of Human Resource & Development, Government of India, and being nominated for Shiksha Rattan Award, Dr. Gaur is the founder of a start-up Research & Innovation In Education, RIEDU that she conceived in 2019 post her research. She is a rare combination of a hard-core dreamer and a doer. Through RIEDU, her passion project, she works towards creating a beautiful, inclusive world where diversity is celebrated. She works with children to build a future generation of thinkers, empaths, and leaders. Dr. Gaur is an academician, educator, writer, blogger, entrepreneur and now a poet as well.
I recently read Dr Shruti's book and I was amazed at the simplicity of words and depth of what she spoke! One of the best books I've read in a long time.
You know a book is worth reading when a 19 year old resonates to a 40 year old’s autobiography in form of prose!! Dr. Shruti pours her heart out with a beautiful collection of 40 poems depicting her four decades as she gives us true meaning of life!💕
If I were to say that Dr Shruti has not only penned down forty exquisite poems in this book but has unabashedly celebrated the past four decades of her life in a delightful poetic fashion, it would be an understatement!
This creation is bound to leave the reader spellbound from start to finish as it flows almost like a story. There is never a dull moment. On the contrary, the poetry writing style is exhilarating, selection of words simple yet so subtly crafted that you will be compelled to pause, reflect and ponder over what you’ve just read and why? It’s inevitable that at times you will find yourself in the shoes of the Poet and feel a complete and unbiased connection!
Personally, I was deeply enthralled all the way through and loved how the Poet narrated her journey starting from childhood pastimes to gradually maturing into a wonderful young girl who initially gets persuaded to follow the cliched path shown by her family but then somewhere deep inside yearns to shed her inhibitions and break free to become that highly spirited, carefree woman who wants to explore all that the world has to offer. She wants to learn about anything and everything under the sun, question and reason with whosoever she can in her vicinity but still wants to do all this whilst remaining that bubbly little girl who is full of innocent curiosity who wants to love unconditionally and ultimately holding the faith aspires to transforming into a “better version” of herself.
I feel Dr Shruti has made a very audacious attempt and hit the stage in an emphatic way by writing poems revolving about her own life events interspersed with accounts from her immediate and close family members every now and then. But she does all this with profound honesty and sensitivity whilst maintaining her focus on rediscovering “Who she was?”, and “Who she wants to become?”….As you progress through the poems, the reader will undoubtedly start to understanding who Dr Shruti is and what goes on in her head, her belief system and most importantly, if she actually does achieve her goals in life (which she may have not have doggedly set as of now but is definitely having a clear vision of at this juncture of her life!)
I have personally found reading Dr Shruti’s poems to be a highly enriching experience. I’m so glad I picked up this book and would like to Congratulate her for sharing a part of her life with the world in such a charming manner. To me this is by no means a small feat! Thank you so much Dr Shruti for sharing the pearls of your wisdom and learnings with all of us – I’m sure many of your readers will relate to your way of thinking and approach to life, I certainly do!
I’d strongly recommend this book to anyone who has an open mind to life, who joyfully embraces all the pains, sorrows and happiness that gets thrown at them but most importantly to those who believe in loving unconditionally and want to live life to the fullest without inhibitions or preconceived notions.
Through the symphony of time, hearts weave a tapestry of cherished moments, adorned with the golden hues of yesteryears. Each decade, a stanza in the ballad of life, resonates with the melody of triumphs and the poetry of resilience, inviting the soul to dance with memories painted in the brushstrokes of nostalgia.
🪶 In the gentle embrace of passing years, we are the poets of our own existence, crafting verses with the ink of experience. Life, an ever-unfolding manuscript, reveals its chapters through the aging tapestry of our souls, where wrinkles whisper tales of laughter and shadows dance with the grace of wisdom earned. In the twilight of time, we find the beauty of a life well-lived, a masterpiece etched by the graceful hands of aging. The poetess also retrospects her life as she stepped into the 4th decade of her life.
🪶 She, a muse in the symphony of love, wears the cloak of an affectionate wife, she once sung lullabies that cradled the hearts of two souls. In the imperfect dance of motherhood, she crafted a mosaic of tender moments, a canvas painted with the hues of resilience. An amateur entrepreneur, she navigates the business seas with courage, a dreamweaver in the tapestry of her aspirations. She is a sonnet, not flawless, but a lyrical journey of strength, love, and the artistry of a life beautifully lived.
🪶As she gracefully moved through all the highs and lows of time, donning roles in "not so perfect" yet a kind, affectionate and amiable way, her experiences as a young girl to a grown up matured woman leaves a deep impact in the minds of the readers. The "relatability" of all the poems projects us before ourselves and compels us to muse about our past present and the future.
The flow of the book is perfect and the expression is impeccable.
Dr. Shruti is reminiscent of her childhood, her growing up years and coming of age. She has beautifully penned down her thoughts on various aspects of life.
