"Brilliant . . . made me laugh out loud . . . I loved it." --Amazon reviewer, five stars
A rollicking tale of a bride, a groom, and two out-of-control Mumzillas from an author with "a brilliant writing style" (Donna's Book Blog).
Tessa and Leo want to celebrate their love and commitment with a small, intimate wedding. But not everyone agrees.
Tess's mum, Patricia, inspired by a recent celebrity wedding extravaganza, is doing everything from secretly tripling the guest list to pressuring Tess to wear her hand-me-down Princess Diana replica dress. To get a much-needed break from Patricia's antics, the couple takes a trip to Ireland to visit Leo's family. Soon, Leo's mother, Grace, is going behind their backs to book a church wedding--and giving Tess her old wedding gown.
With two wedding dresses, two venues booked, and two mothers trying to mark their territory, the couple looking forward to a lifetime of togetherness are starting to wonder if they'll make it through the big day . . .
Praise for Suzie Tullett

I'm a full time writer, lucky enough to live between the UK and France. And when I'm not tapping away on the computer creating my own literary masterpiece, I usually have my head in someone else's.
A great easy to read, lighthearted book that is a perfect summer read. I thoroughly enjoyed this from the first page, right up until the last one. Would definitely recommend.
With two mothers practically warring over creating their perfect wedding day for Tessa, Tullett’s light-hearted novel is an entertaining take on how the big day can be overshadowed by so many family politics.
For sure, this is the perfect candidate for a beach read. The chapters are relatively short and this is a fast-paced, lively story so it works if you find you can’t concentrate too much or are frequently getting interrupted. For me, as I realised the conundrum that Tessa found herself in, I was desperate to discover how she would get married without upsetting someone in the family.
Tullett’s writing brought back many memories of planning for my own wedding and I think the different scenarios will appeal to a broad demographic of readers. Wanting to try and please everyone, Tessa is keen not to hurt her mum’s feelings, nor her new mother-in-law – whom she has only just met properly. At the same time, it is clear that Tessa’s mum is hearing what is being said, but not actually listening to her daughter’s protests. Whilst very entertaining, even I grew frustrated by Tessa’s mum and how ‘No’ did not resonate in the slightest!
I admired how well Tessa kept her cool in this story – I surely would have had several Bridezilla moments myself. Trying to placate everyone, poor fiancé, Leo, recognises that Tessa’s mum’s enthusiasm is merely an indication of how much she cares. I felt sorry for Leo because he is certainly trapped in the middle of the conflicts, especially when his own mother gets involved in the planning.
This was a great read and really enjoyable. Tullett kept me guessing as to how the story would conclude and I particularly liked how Tessa’s niece made her presence known in the story – she is certainly not a forgettable character. Whilst some of it may seem a bit far-fetched, I imagine plenty of readers can relate to the calamities that Tessa experiences as she tries to plan for a wedding day that she wants.
With thanks to Bloodhound books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A fantastic light read with a true feel good vibe. Poor Tessa though, all the girl wants is to marry her sweetheart Leo however… With an absolute nightmare of a mother I’m surprised she managed to keep it together as long as she did. I think I’d have blown a gasket a lot sooner had I been in her shoes (and what stunning Vivienne Westwood shoes she chose). I would highly recommend this book to almost anyone but probably not someone planning their own nuptials if they too have a mother like poor Tessa has😆
A great light read to curl up by the fire with - but maybe not if you’re planning a wedding any time soon and have interfering relatives to deal with - some truly cringe moments and I could only admire Tess’s fortitude and good temper at keeping her equilibrium - even if at times I yearned for her to stand up to her overbearing mother. A most enjoyable ride, well written and lots of fun … kept me turning the pages til the end.
I do love a novel about a wedding (or two, or three!) and this one about Tessa and her troubles planning her wedding didn't disappoint. Tessa's meddlesome mother and MIL are really quite something. I don't want to spoil the fun by saying too much more, but for me, this was another enjoyable read from one of my favourite authors. Will Tessa get the wedding she wants? You'll have to read it to find out :)
Thank you for letting me read and reviews this book 📕
I to say this is the second book I’ve read by this wonderful author ✍️
If you’re looking for a summer read that entices you in this is definitely it: I think every girl goes through the kind of emotions. Tess does in this book.
I have to say if that was my wedding, I would not be this calm
Totally loved this book…. I needed something light hearted and enjoyable as am suffering with COVID. I couldn’t stop reading, I laughed, I cried got frustrated for Tessa and was lost in the book. We need more like this. ❤️
Such a great summer read. Stuck between 2 women who love you so much when all Tess wants is simple and happy. This book kept me wanting to find out what will happen next and what her niece's next antics will be. So many entertaining characters and feel good ease.
Tessa Cavendish is Getting Married follows the story of Tessa and Leo who are happy to have a quiet wedding but whose plans are taken over by Tess's extremely domineering Mother. There were some interesting characters. It was a light hearted read and I would give it 3.5 stars.
Tessa Cavendish is getting married by Suzie Tullett. Tessa and Leo want to celebrate their love and commitment with a small, intimate wedding. But not everyone agrees. A lovely feelgood light read. Loved Tessa. Recommend. 5*.
This book was a very fun and easy read. All of the stress of getting married, but then top it off with a mother who can't help but take over. Add in a mother-in-law to be, and a niece who is hilarious, and the giggles abound. It is a truly enjoyable story!
A fun frothy tale. The characters were enjoyable, particularly the young niece India, but despite having a wedding as a central theme there wasn't much romance. It all seemed a bit of a nuisance to Tess and I suspect a quick trip to Gretna Green would have been a better option.
Brilliant light hearted summer read. Anyone that has planned a wedding will relate to how the bride is pulled in every direction. Some laugh out loud moments and perfect holiday read
DNF at 25%. This is a farce set in the context of wedding planning and I just could care less about that context, and find the minutia of push pull among the characters annoying.
Another brilliant book from this fabulous author. This was the perfect light hearted pick me up read and had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions while reading. If you are looking for an escapism summer read then this is your book. Once I had started reading I couldn’t put it down and read it in practically one sitting.
This novel comes out August 10, 2022. The paperback comes out July 27th of 2022. This is a story of two people getting engaged Leo, and Tessa his soon to be bride. The road to the wedding is exciting and a lot for these two people they have parents, and the parents to watch out for is the mother, Leo's parents are Grace, and Bill, and Tessa's parents are Patricia, and Edward. The mother is a bit overwhelming for this couple just wanting a simple wedding in September of the same year that gotten engaged. The humor in this book is funny and comical. The way the mothers do, can make you laugh. And the father reactions something to behold married to these women. And the sibling and friends. You will meet the people the characters that help move this wonderful storyline to excellences. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I have.
I enjoyed reading this cute romance story. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed from start to finish. The author's use of details made the story realistic and it was easy to picture myself in this story. This is a well written story where Tess and Leo are getting married but to satify everyone they are having two weddings. They are now left wondering if they will make it through this. I enjoyed how they pulled me into their story. They kept the story engaging and fun to read. This is a story that has alot of humor that made the story entertaining. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
This is Suzie at her best - funny, witty and her descriptions also will have you in tears of laughter! For most women who have been through the marriage process, they will all relate to the input not only of her mother but also her mother in law to be when all Tessa wants is a small, quiet family affair whilst the mothers think otherwise. It is a great feel good story and makes a fab holiday read - just don't laugh out too loud in public!!
A lovely light hearted read, well written and with great characters. I loved Leo with his gentle nature and easy going out look on life, Tessa who just wants a quiet simple life oh and Tessa’s mum well she’s is just one on her own, though at times she really was starting to peeve me off hahaha, oh and to add to the mix let’s throw in a last minute wedding. It all makes for good fun and games with a touch of frustration, exasperation and family shenanigans.
This book was a breath of fresh air, just what I needed in this hot summer. It's a lovely read, easy and fun, with a lot of laugh out loud moments. Tess is trying to get the marriage she wants, but it's not so easy when everybody think they have a say in it! Utterly lovely!
A fun light hearted read about a couple trying to get married without getting railroaded by overbearing parents. I really felt for the couple as things spiralled. A lovely cute story
