Kingmaker Saga #2

The Crystal Bard

An army gathers determined to destroy the Mother Tree.
The Trio are planning a second, larger attack and Terran knows they will have to stop it before it reaches the walls of Gneiss Glenn. But without the help of his friends and only low level elves to muster a defense, the chances of success are slim.

The settlement’s only hope is the legend of the Crystal Bard, a powerful elven warrior who uses their voice to rain destruction upon their enemies. But there hasn’t been a Crystal Bard in hundreds of years, and even if Terran did have the perfect pitch required, his troubled past haunts him. As Terran and the Rock Leaf elves run out of options, he must find a way to overcome his stage fright, or the Trio and the hidden force behind them, will destroy the Mother Tree and his shot at reuniting with his friends forever.

The challenges Terran has to face as the champion of the Mother Tree are continuous and he fights on undaunted together with Luna by his side providing the readers with her sardonic wit many a time at poor Terran’s expense. Terran discovers he could train as a crystal bard and make this his second subclass, and he worked at becoming the best he could become as a bard, learning as he could through the help of Jondar, and later on Zaros, who had to respect Terran albeit reluctant to do so. In this book Terran, Chanterelle and Luna face many enemies but their worst enemies are still the horrid trio of outworlders, who are Terran’s nemesis. When he had entered Kingmaker he did this to hang out with his friends but it also meant he could avoid people that had hurt him and now it was slowly dawning on him who the trio really were IRL. I really liked reading about the centaurs, about the ghost of Lord Ostric, and the growing of the beautiful crystals for the mother tree. I hated Grimchar, who I am sure we have not seen the last of yet, unfortunately, would love to learn more about the effect of the Nightblade which Chanterelle is wielding, and seeing the settlement grow into something worth its salt, under the leadership of our dauntless young hero. This book is one of loss as well as one of gain, and re-uniting with old friends who hopefully would become part of Terran’s settlement and start giving their own input towards making this an unassailable home for all of those dwelling under the protection of the mother tree. I am really into this series and look forward to reading further through book 3.

Alert

First, my review: “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”

Second, I am not a bot...at least I don’t think I am. Yes this is copy pasta (just learned that term, so fun!) simply because I feel like any book I read deserves acknowledgement but at the same time my feelings on reviews conflict with the normal review process.

I enjoyed this book, so my goal is to promote it and help the author. If you are a potential reader, just stop reading now and take the above as all you need to know. I am not going to share my reasoning, thoughts on the book, or any opinions that would influence your decision to read it. It is my opinion that Art needs to be experienced at an individual level. You are the only one that can determine what you like and don’t like. Don’t let others make that decision for you. You should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews. Or not if you don’t think this book is for you. That choice is all yours and the beauty of art appreciation. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.

If you are a member of the IAK Guild (thanks, Jason) or part of the review police, feel free to criticize me and challenge my philosophy on reviewing art. I think we all love a good debate. The forums are open and I welcome your comments. I was wrong in my previous request to get you to stop. Your blatant disregard for that request has led to some fun discussions. Growth is important for us all.

Cheers

The 3 main characters fight against the Trio to keep there home safe.
Lots of non stop action and different ways of using magic , very detailed and creative story.
This story is told so well ,it is believable and easy to get lost in.

Solid story and progressing action.

Solid story and progressing action. Good main character, nice supporting ones though mainly one point of view. Some slice of life but the mysteries are still enticing and still more to be learned of the outside world.
