Georg Heinrich August Ewald (1803-1875) was one of the nineteenth century's foremost Biblical scholars. His great appreciation for the work of medieval Jewish scholars in Biblical exegesis, Hebrew grammar, and lexicography is evident in his work, Syntax of the Hebrew Language of the Old Testament.
