Don't Look Back

Last autumn Sheriff Andy Patrick rescued his wife, Samantha, after being kidnapped by Matt Ruiz. Since then, Samantha has retreated into a protective shell. She won't leave her home, and worse, she has pushed away the people who love her the most.
Her daughter, Delaney, decides to enlist the help of family friend, Kellyn Grindstaff. As a former sex crimes cop, therapist, and now professor of psychology, Kellyn has had plenty of experience helping victims of sexual crimes. Kellyn comes to Land's End, unknowingly bringing her own troubles with her. By saving Samantha, will Kellyn be able to save herself?

Interestingly enough, I read the first book in this series almost 2 years ago... yet the story has stuck with me upon picking up book 2. (Sorry it took me so long Sherrie)
The characters were still fresh, the setting was still there so I was able to simply re-immerse myself in the new storyline with little effort.
Not an easy task for any author to accomplish.
The writing in and of itself has matured, or 'grown' if you will. As with book 1, there were some grammatical issues yet very few and far between in book 2. A marked improvement.
I look forward to the next 'chapter' in the series

In this second book in the Land’s End series the reader is introduced to Kellyn Grindstaff, a former sex crimes cop, who turned therapist and then psychology professor. I had not read the first book in this series and when the characters from that first book appeared I was a little confused, but all fell in line and I do not think you need to read the series to enjoy the story.
The Kellyn character is well developed and believable. Her husband is killed while on duty responding to a domestic disturbance call and Kellyn goes into early labor and losses her baby, all on Christmas Eve.
Once you get into the serial killer part of the story it gets gruesome and not the kind of book I am comfortable reading. Thankfully, the author does not go into horrible graphic detail. Kellyn meets the dysfunctional family from the first book and becomes deeply involved in their tragic lives. But also manages to bring a love interest (after more than twenty years) into her life again.
The connection with the two families gets deeper as the story progresses. I really liked the book and think the author has done a good job with character development. What I did not like in the book was the coincidences that enabled the killer. It was just too easy.
The book could use some proof reading, (all proof readers go to Heaven) but it is well written and the story had some good, although predictable, suspense. I love when the heroes are flawed, I really liked Ms. Frontz’s characters, especially Kellyn.

Building terror, old terror revisited, FBI, Crime Lord. What more can one ask? Add family and friends standing together, old love, new love and a multitude of law enforcement individuals against a serial rapist - murderer. A splendid book. I want the third one to come out soon.

This book is the second in The Land's End series by S.W. Frontz. Samantha is in a fragile emotional state after her kidnapping and assault by Matt Ruiz. She's retreated into a shell. Andy, her husband, is afraid that she will never let him close to her again. Their daughter asks a friend to help. Kelly Grindstaff has the experience and knowledge needed to help Sam, but with her comes an obsessed stalker. Suddenly all hell breaks loose and everyone is in danger. I was pulled into this book from the first page. The non-stop action and unexpected twists kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters are well written and I felt a connection with them. I wanted them to be safe and happy. I was glad to reconnect with Sam and Andy and see how they dealt with the trauma, but most of all I want to see justice served. Matt Ruiz is evil and needs to be stopped. Land's End is beautiful and tranquil. It was the perfect stage for this dark drama. I enjoy the writing style of this author. She has a way of making her characters come to life. I'm looking forward to the next book. I need closure.

Interesting story, wish I had started with Book one first. I won it in a contest and it was a good read.

All the elements of this book were great. Terrifying serial killer (plural, yet!), check. Escalating suspense, check. Likable protagonists, check. Sparks-flying romance, check. The only reason I'm not giving this book three stars was because I found the prose style flat, not quite up to a story full of suspense.

I wonder if the author over-edited it. The book gets five stars for format: virtually none of the typos, homonyms, malapropisms and grammatical errors that so often plague self-published books. But I do wonder if some liveliness of style was lost to repeated editing. Whether a scene was intended to be forboding, terrifying, or romantic, it was told in exactly the same manner.

I expect this to improve over time, so I'll definitely be interested in more books from this author.

This is the second book in the Land's End series, and yet again the author delivers a story filled with suspense. All the characters from the first book return, with the addition of Kellyn, a friend of Sam and Andy's daughter, and Madison, a member of the Ruiz family.
As Sam is having problems coming to terms with what happened to her at the end of the last story, her daughter Delaney asks Kellyn, a psychologist, to help out. But Kellyn has already met Madison Ruiz, and events take a sinister turn.
As with the first book, this one also needs some editing, but it has a strong story full of action and suspense that will keep you reading until the end. Again, I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Kellyn has met a younger man. He seems very interested in her but she thinks he's too young. Madison begins stalking her. Kellyn is also a friend of Delaney and Sam. None of them know that Madison is really the son of Matt Ruiz. Madison has the same cruel streak as his father.

I enjoyed the book but it needs a lot of editing. There are numerous times throughout the book that of is used instead of have. Of is even in sentences when it isn't needed. The book could be so much better if it was edited properly. If there is another book in the series, I would like to read it.

Don't Look Back review

The book was really good. The only problem I have with the book is with all the editing errors. Was the book even proof read before releasing?

Don’t look back is the second instalment of the Land’s End series; I enjoyed the story’s progression from the first book in the series, I must confess and I am eagerly awaiting the third book (based on the last paragraph; I am expecting a third book).

This book is even better than the first in the series. Can Kellyn save Sam and herself in time? Do you like a great mystery/crime book. If so, don't miss this series
