She accidentally time traveled with a killer. Now, she may never hold her son in her arms again.
Syd Brixton can timeblink.
So when she and her sister are trapped on a crashing plane, Syd doesn’t hesitate to use the power to transport them both back in time five years.
But things get complicated when they arrive in 2019 and discover three strangers have inadvertently hitched a ride, one of them with a dark and deadly past.
It wouldn’t be a problem if Syd could timeblink everyone back to the present, back to anywhere but a looming air disaster.
Unfortunately, timeblinking doesn’t work like that.
It comes with its own set of rules—and those rules make the group’s return to their present just as dangerous as if they had stayed on the doomed plane.
Syd has not chosen this date randomly, though. Her son’s father, Morley, is still alive in 2019 and the only person on the planet who can help her get back to where their little boy is waiting.
But when two of the passengers go missing—one a known murderer—the entire group’s return to the present is threatened. And now, even Morley may not be able to prevent them from being stuck in the past . . . separated from their loved ones forever.
MJ Mumford is a fiend for psychological thrillers, page-turning suspense, and time travel stories with a dash of romance. It was this passion that led to her debut novel, TimeBlink, a blend of all three genres in one narrative. Realizing there was more story to tell, MJ seized the challenge and created three more entries in The Syd Brixton TimeBlink series: Flight 444, Dragonfly, and a prequel novella, Talisman, which reveals how fan-favorite, Dr. Morley Scott, stumbled upon the power of timeblinking. While MJ dreams of the day when timeblinking leaps off her pages and becomes a reality, she satisfies her wanderlust by exploring the tangible world alongside her husband, Alistair. In quieter moments, MJ enjoys the down-to-earth pleasures of reading, cooking, yoga, and supporting other independent businesses.
Flight 444 is an enthralling read that will have you on the edge of your seat. I love the story MJ Mumford has created. I love reading about Syd and Morley. Gosh, my heart just aches with the plot line for the Syd Brixton TimeBlink Series. And the ending of the book gave me chills. Though, I have a feeling where this is going and I like it! Keep up the good work MJ. I cannot wait to read book 3!
I really like MJ Mumford's books. This is the second one of hers that I've read and again, I thoroughly enjoyed it. They are easy to read and I can whip through them without any jarring or questioning - they flow, the characters are believable and I feel satisfied with where she takes me plot-wise.
In this book, Syd find herself on a flight with her half-sister Lainie and they are heading home when something goes wrong on the flight. Obviously, with Syd's ability to time travel on a whim, she'd be stupid to stay on a flight that she thinks is going to crash and so, she hightails it out of there; only this time, it's not just her and so, she finds herself in a situation where she's managed to save the one she loves but some extra passengers come along for the ride. This is where it gets a little tricky for Syd as how do you explain to unsuspecting people that they have just travelled through time and that that is what has saved them from near certain death?
If you are looking for gritty science fiction or some sort of quantum physics complexity in this book, you are going to be dissatisfied. It's not very sciency and that suits me fine. There are dark moments and threats but generally, the feel of Mumford's books is one of fun and love and romance with time travel being at the heart of it but not the engine that drives everything. It is a vehicle for the story and it works, I think, as long as you don't question it too closely. And I didn't because I want to be entertained and that's what MJ Mumford's books do - they entertain.
One thing that I think she does really well is dialogue and I think this is key to her evocation of character. I like the flirtiness of Syd too. She's got a bit of spice to her and she's likeable.
So, for me, it's on to book 3 which I hope will be more of the same - a light thriller which is easy to read with a bit of love, a bit of danger and a resolution that provides satisfaction. I will say that this book ends on a great cliffhanger and so, I am keen to get started on the next one!
Flight 444 is the sequel to Time Blink and having thoroughly enjoyed Time Blink, I dived straight into Flight 444 without pausing for breath between the two. I enjoyed Flight 444 but I didn't love it in the same way that I loved Time Blink. Sydney and Morley are still great characters and the storyline was compelling enough but Flight 444 had no novelty factor. I also didn't like some of what the characters did while in the past - and there was no mention of either any repercussions or of any unsolved mysteries. In fact, there were a couple of things that weren't resolved to my satisfaction throughout the book. Where did the ring that Syd bought for Morley end up? Who was the person that she spoke to while outside the restaurant that she and Morley went to? Was it Colette (that's what is insinuated) and if it was Colette, how was she jumped past her own death date? And how is Sam still visible to those he's had skin-to-skin contact with? I'm hoping that these questions - and more - are answered in the next book, which I will be reading because it is a great series but I don't like unanswered questions.
Exciting story about 5 people on a flight that suddenly has trouble. Syd, who has a timeblink necklace saves them and then they have to figure out how to return. The only negative about this is the story isn’t over at the end. There will be another book to continue the story. I hope it comes soon!
This series has so far proved to be a very easy, light read that I have found enjoyable and interesting. The loss of a point was for some character behavior that was just annoying, and a time travel matter that didn’t make sense. Actually I will push “spoilers” and ask in case anyone can enlighten me…. when the detective is caught up in the timeblink back to the plane and is distressed his family will think he disappeared for years, the other characters agreed yes very sad. But isn’t he just gone for the 4 and a bit minutes no matter how long he’s somewhere else?

Received as a review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. This second book of the Syd Brixton series is poignantly grounded journey that wondrously enthralling in the profound journey the group of travelers find themselves in... an adventure that wasn't suppose to happen. At least not the way Syd wanted it go. First set in the year 2024, in the wake of her father's death, Syd Brixton finds herself a reliant caretaker of her teen half-sister Lainie, hoping to build a relationship on the trip back to Seattle. When the flight turns dangerously turbulent, heading to crash; Syd utilizes her timeblink ability to save herself and Lainie to 2019 and the cabin of a good friend. She didn't expect other travelers hitched a ride; now she has convince Rose, Gus and Jarrett that not only they are in the past... but getting back to their time won't be easy venture. As each copes with their current situation and if they'll ever see loved ones again comes a serious complication of Lainie; crushing on Gus and believing she shouldn't go back to 2024; gets Gus to flee on crazy side venture that scares everyone, especially Syd to the core. Getting back home will take an unexpected twist no sees coming and only adds to the bizarre whirlwind of memories for those people. Poignant and profound, Flight 444 is the perfect summer read, highly recommended
It had been three weeks since her father passed away and Sydney still couldn't believe he had given her half-sister Lainie temporary custody for a full month.
In addition, her other sister Kendall annoyed her by always wanting to side with her father... How could she forgive her father for abandoning them?
Sydney and Lainie were about to board Flight 444 bound for Seattle...

An excellent sequel overflowing with action and emotions and which kept me in suspense throughout the book!
In addition to the attractive characters, the scenario is full of surprises and is mind-blowing.
I dived into this novel with happiness and I had only one question: - "Would they make it ???"...
An absolute MUST READ for lovers of time travel novel. ♥️😱🛫✈🛩
I have no idea why this series is not more popular! Mumford has a knack for pulling us in and keeping us on the edge of our seats. Yes, the whole thing is surreal and unbelievable... and I loved every minute of it!
Sydney and Morley are just as likeable as they were in the first book of the series, and the addition of the other characters was perfect!
