I read this during a long hospital stay back in the 80s, and since have returned to it many times. It's influence led me first to do Alfred Wainwright's English coast-to-coast walk and later to do 600 miles of the GR5 over the course of three summers. An admirable narrative for those few of us who love the idea of walking a very long distance.
