I read this book via an Amazon-US KINDLE Unlimited download.

It’s been a while since I read Jo Huddleston’s first book in this series when it had been offered as part of the “Get Your Kiss on Route 66” anthology.

Have you ever had the experience of hearing things about some guy without never having any personal interaction with him? If you did then you’re able to step into Betty’s shoes when it comes to the beginning of her interactions with Greg. The bride and groom, Donna and Tommy, are in California for their wedding; along with Greg, Tommy’s best man and Betty with her friend Mary Ann, from their hometown.

And it’s from there that Betty might have developed her apparent dislike for Greg, a guy by the way who is quite handsome, causing her to continuously throw criticisms at him at every opportunity, she wants absolutely nothing to do with him, and his narcissistic behavior doesn’t help matters any. Greg in juxtaposition is truly attracted to Betty and her sheer beauty, but is unable to comprehend her animosity towards him.

Just as we’re told to forgive and forget, Betty needs to forget all of her previously conceived notions about Greg and allow herself to let Greg into her life, so she can experience the person he truly is. And in doing so, perhaps she can learn the truth regarding relationships.

First impressions can literally kill any relationship before it even has a chance to begin as is the case here with Betty. But, with having no fascination or wish in getting married, she’s the one who caught the bridal bouquet, which by tradition means she’s the next to get married.

Will Betty’s attitude towards marriage and Greg change enough, by the end of the story, so she’ll be able to finally obtain the HEA she’s been secretly wanting for so long?

For having given her readers and myself a sweet a Kismet, unsought after kind of Christian love story, during a much simpler time than we’re living in today [1956], I’ve given Ms. Huddleston 5 STARS.

STORY-LINE BETTY'S BLESSING BY JO HUDDLESTON:

Betty and Mary Ann are in town for Donna's wedding. You will remember Donna and Tommy from Donna's Detour Book 1. Greg Turner came as Tommy's best man. Betty has an aversion to every thing about Greg; throwing snarks and snipping at every turn. Greg, however, finds himself attracted to the beautiful woman. He can't understand what she has against him. Will circumstances change and allow these two to find happy ever after? My review of Betty's Blessing follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Once again author Jo Huddleston created a well-written, clean, sweet, romance, in Betty's Blessing. Huddleston's created quite a character in Betty; funny, snarky, and opinionated. She's doesn't mind stating her opinion. However, Betty's immature when it comes to relationships; always expecting the worse. I wanted to shake her and tell her to grow up; I became very impatient with her.

You will love Greg; a man who had searched for something in his life; has he finally found it? He's ready for a permanent relationship, however, he's mystified by Betty at times. Then a two crisis' occurs; will Betty resolve her issues, opening her eyes and seeing the truth?

With well-developed characters, plotting which kept me interested in the story-line, and scenes which moved smoothly and flowed well, I found this a clean romance. Huddleston included the right amount of faith in God; showing her characters have faith and rely on God's wisdom. You need not be a believer to enjoy this book. Huddleston filled this book with emotion and misunderstandings. This is a sweet clean romance which had no need of sex or fluff to fill the pages. Perfect for a lazy afternoon of reading in your favorite chair.

RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4

FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE:

Additionally, I received this book from the author and chose to voluntarily review the book with an honest romance novel review. Lastly, book reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion. Consequently, all book reviews on-line and on my blog, are my opinions. In addition, the ARC did not affect my voluntary romance novel review.

Betty Campbell catches Donna's bridesmaid bouquet but has no desire to marry, especially not to wedding best man Greg Turner, whom she considers arrogant. Greg seeks to discover why Betty is so hostile toward him. Misfortune and misunderstandings trigger the couple's concern for each other on their journey from enemies to lovers.

I enjoyed this book. Short and sweet. The characters were interesting, the plot smooth. Scene flowed into scene while keeping the reader into the story. Experiencing a wedding, then a journey of relationship. Very good read. I give 5-stars only when I feel I'll remember the story long after I close the book. 5-stars to Betty's Blessing.
