I am an Amazing Asian Girl By Yobe Qiu This shows various little Asian girls giving positive affirmations about themselves. There are lots of girls and shows the variety of Asian backgrounds. Really nice!
A very cute book full of positive affirmations for Asian girls. The narrative is first person and the little girls receive affirmations from a variety of sources (family, friends, teachers, etc., and then finally one little girl speaking about herself).
I put this on my "lots of diversity" shelf because, despite the fact that we (and maybe especially the publishing industry) sometimes forget, Asia is a huge place so there is a lot of diversity among the people who are from there. There is some ethnic diversity represented as well (a girl wearing a hijab and another girl having a bindi dot on her forehead).
I chose this book because it promotes having a positive self image of oneself. The theme of this book is confidence and cultural identity. In this book an Asian girl learns about who she is through cultural empowerment and positive affirmations. This book is appropriate for children 3 to 6 years old. In my classroom I would use this as a read aloud when discussing cultural identity or positive affirmations. We would discuss "How can positive affirmations boost our confidence?" Or "Why is it important to value our culture?" I would also have students interview family members about their cultural traditions, foods and celebrations.
This book features an Asian-American girl as the narrator, but the story is strongly multicultural. Qui discusses adjectives that describe qualities of the character like being adaptable, appreciative, and assertive. She is also independent in her opinions, while also being very community oriented. She interacts with children of different cultures while pursuing her own interests and projects.
There are not too many books available with female Asian protagonists and this book is a good choice for primary grade children to encourage self-confidence and reinforce self-esteem.
This is an empowering children's book that celebrates the uniqueness and strength of Asian girls. The story follows a young asian girl who embraces her cultural heritage and takes pride in her identity. through the journey, she learns to appreciate her background, talents, and the qualities that make her special. The book aims to inspire confidence and self-love in young readers, encouraging them to recognize their own worth and potential. with vibrant illustrations and positive message, it serves as a celebration of diversity and individuality.
The theme of this book was so important for young girls of all cultures. It explained the importance of their strength. It is a very positive affirmation; it shows girls being empowered. I loved how the book will help the children overcome self-doubt.
I read this book becuase it featured a lot of beautiful visuals and had amazing colors which made the book more exciting to read. I enjoyed watching the little girls from all cultures embrace this book.
A fun read, not for my 2 year old son who is not Asian. As said in the title, a great affirmation book especially if you want an Asian themed book. Honestly, the affirmations can apply to everyone, but since the main aspect is being a picture book it's mostly for the titled target audience. The illustrations are vibrant and fun, lots of happy faces so you can't help but feel good. I like the representation in this book as well there are lots Southeast Asians not just East Asians.
My half-Korean daughter said “hey, that girl looks like me! I want to read it! To piggy back on the other reviews, I also loved how success can be seen in many different ways and being willing to try new things. Our own family is a hodge podge of cultural traditions and this book helped us to embrace it all and be proud of it. Loved it, now I want to read the author’s other books to my kids. Thank you!
I Am an Amazing Asian Girl is a book that has Positive Affirmations for all Asian Girls. This book has affirmations that help with self-esteem and self-love, but it also has pictures of little girls who look like them and do amazing things. I chose this book because I am not Asian, but I want students to be able to see themselves in the book and have representation of people who look like them. I want them to be able to say, "They read a book that had a girl that looked like them in it.”
"I Am An Amazing Asian Girl: A Positive Affirmation Book For Asian Girls" has affirmations that help promote self-love, confidence, and pride in one's culture and heritage. It is a book I would have in a first grade class because I believe they will understand the affirmations better. I don't think I would read this book to my class but I would have it in my library for my students. I also liked the pictures in the book.
This book is meant for grades K-2nd grade. The main theme is to uplift Asian children and help them feel happy about themselves. I would use this in my class library to also let other students appreciate the Asian culture and understand it. I would also be sure to use this to make sure the Asian students feel welcomed. The self confidence in students is what I aim to do.
This story has kind and positive words that remind children they are smart, brave, and special. Each page has an easy-to-read affirmation, like ‘I am active’ or ‘I am appreciated,’ to help children feel good about themselves. This is a great book for parents and teachers who want to teach children about confidence, self-love, and being proud of their culture.
This beautiful is beautifully written and full of affirmations. I love the diversity that it shows with the dynamics of the girls and families throughout the book as well. A much needed book for classrooms as well.
A wonderful story showing diversity and empowerment. With encouragement from family and friends who can help you be who you want to be. Help you strive to be a more confident you.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The colorful illustrations make it very appealing to children. It has a very supporting message for young Asian girls. It tells them that (hence the title) they are amazing. This could be incorporated in a lesson about origin I think the students would love it.
This is an excellent read for young Asian girls. Through positive affirmations, they will feel more confident and feel happier with who they are. I love how through the illustrations, we see different Asian girls, diverse Asian foods, and clothes. Each of the positive words in the book starts with A. The illustrations are beautiful! Love the colors. Such a happy tone to it.
This is a needed book to show young Asian girls that they are special. It’s so important for little kids to see themselves in picture books. This beautifully written story reminds kids they have their own thoughts, voice, culture and traditions and to be proud of who they are.
This whole book is just overload of cuteness - from the amazing illustrations and fun storyline. My daughter totally loved it! Even my son says it’s a good book. Definitely get this book for your child to help keep their unique Asian identity.
