As the world continues to reel from the shooting, Kate must race to save humanity from more horrific violence.

After escaping an angry, dangerous mob, Kate Stellute and her neighbor Sinclair set out on a journey to stop the Rex––and his kind—from unleashing more pain on the remaining population. The sinister otherworldly being has already made hundreds of millions of people turn their guns on themselves and amidst the suffering and death, no one can predict what he will do next.

Kate knows she and Sinclair are up against an impossible deadline to stop Rex's mission before it's too late. Relying on the biophysicist's late wife’s mysterious research to determine what caused the alien's wrath, Kate and Sinclair join forces with NASA, a rogue Space Force agent, and two billionaire space bros. Together, they'll attempt to implement an improbable and risky plan. The unlikely team may just be the planet's last chance to save life as they know it.

Pretty much the same as the last book, except instead of nothing happening in a house, nothing happens in a car. That is, until the last 20 or so pages when things "happen" but are not really explained that well. One more book to go and then my pain is over...

Picking right back up where The Shooting left off, The Collision is a fast paced adventure. Follow Kate in her continued efforts to save the world...mainly from itself.

Reading The Collision by C. K. Westbrook has left me thinking deeply about courage, responsibility, and the world we leave for the next generation. At my age, I often read to relax, but this story made me pause and reflect on so many things beyond the page.

There were moments when Kate’s choices, so brave and determined in the face of fear, reminded me of the quiet strength we grandmothers carry every day. Even when the challenges are different, we understand what it means to worry, to guide, and to protect those we love. That part of the story made me think of my own family and the small ways each of us tries to make the world safer and kinder for the ones who come after us.

The suspense and tension of the story kept me turning the pages, yet what stayed with me most was the underlying sense of moral responsibility. The book doesn’t just thrill; it asks you to pause, to consider your own actions, and the impact they may have. I found myself reflecting on humanity, courage, and hope long after I finished reading.

I also loved the way the author wove relationships into the chaos of the story. The bonds between characters felt real and tender, even in the midst of danger. It reminded me that no matter how dark times may get, connection and loyalty give us the strength to carry on. That human touch made the story feel personal and heartfelt to me.

Another thing I appreciated was the balance between action and reflection. Many times I found myself pausing, thinking about how the events in the book mirror challenges in our own world, and what it truly means to stand up for what is right. It was a gentle but powerful reminder that courage can take many forms, even the quiet, steadfast kind.

Finally, I must say how much I admire the author’s imagination and ability to build a world that feels urgent and alive. It is the kind of book that not only entertains but inspires. I feel grateful to have read it, and I know it is a story I will carry in my heart for a long time.

For anyone who enjoys a story that balances suspense with thoughtful reflection, that challenges the heart as well as the mind, this is a book I warmly, sincerely recommend. It is a story that touches not just the imagination but the spirit.

The Collision is tense, unsettling, and way more emotional than I expected. The premise alone is terrifying, an alien force turning humanity against itself, but what really pulled me in was Kate. She feels real: flawed, grieving, and determined even when the odds are clearly impossible.

The pacing is fast and relentless, and once the story gets moving, it doesn’t let up. Rex is a chilling antagonist, and the psychological horror of what he causes stuck with me long after I finished reading. I also enjoyed how the science and space-agency elements added depth without overwhelming the story.

A few moments felt rushed, but overall this was a gripping, thought-provoking sci-fi thriller that kept me hooked. Definitely recommend if you like high-stakes stories that focus on the human cost of catastrophe.

this was a great sequel to the Impact series, it had what I enjoyed from the first book and the characters were on point. It was another strong entry in this series and the characters were what I was hoping for. I hope there is more in this series.

I think this story is riveting, fast paced and intriguing. The characters are engrossing and the crises they confront are not only gripping, but thought provoking. Of course, in full transparency, I might feel this way because I wrote it.
