This book taught me a lot

This book is full of a lot of tips on changing your mindset for the better. It’s all about growing your mindset from entrepreneur to CEO. Byron Morrison says that the mindset required to be a founder, entrepreneur or manager is very different to that of being an effective CEO. As we dive into the book, Byron tells us how to deal with feeling overwhelmed and develop our intuition. Also, one of the most important things about a good CEO is to listen more than you speak. This can help you avoid making decisions that are shortsighted. You want people to be able to express new ideas and opinions rather than being dictated to. He also says to try to avoid telling people what to do because no one likes to be told what to do and even though you may think you know the solution, there is always the possibility that you’re wrong, you’ve missed something, or that there’s a better way to achieve the result.

Effective Steps Towards CEO Productivity

In this book, the author, Byron Morrison, offers easy, achievable and proven steps to achieve the right mindset that a CEO must have. Given the multi-tasking, one-man band business setups nowadays, the responsibilities can be overwhelming. When it affects the CEO this way, oftentimes productivity is affected, among other aspects of the business. Relationships with employees, clients and even with oneself can be affected, likewise. When this happens, business growth, decision-making and even the passion that was once there, the reason for starting the business, can all go wrong. Many small businesses, side hustles, digital nomad work setups and work-from-home setups, looking towards growth would definitely need an efficient CEO. The employment and business landscape rapidly evolved during and post-Covid pandemic. The people's perceptions about economic stability and their attitude towards work-life balance have consequently changed. The possibilities of controlling your own destiny by doing the things you are actually passionate about and owning your own business are endless. For those who have taken that leap, either part-time or full-time, this is an effective manual. Moreover, the author offers more resources, such as, free videos to download and social media communities to support the CEO better and help one become more confident in leading a business organization. The book delves into the mental game of acting rather than reacting so that in most challenging situations, effective decisions can be made. The author is not offering sales strategies here, rather a way to develop a mindset that makes an effective CEO: strategic thinking, auditing of ideas and micro actions are some of the effective tools in management. The interesting parts of the book were mastering the three pillars, such as, mindset, emotional control and performance, the negative language traps, and de-compounding strategy for stress. And, the other helpful parts of the book that the author tackled are handling anxiety and overwhelming situations, focusing on what matters, the skill of listening, handling tough conversations and practicing transparency. Be the CEO you ought to be with that level of professionalism, equipped with the most productive mindset. Begin by reading this short course.

In his book, CEO in Control: Stop reacting, get out of your own head and master the mental game needed to be highly effective CEO (The Effective CEO), Byron Morrison helps you realize you don’t have to be in that state. You have a chance to change the way your life is heading. With his inspiring words and guidance, he helps you to “get out of your own head,” to stop reacting to the situation and people around you. He talks about strategic thinking and setting goals, quarterly goals. What you focus on has a huge impact on where you want to be. If you are busy trying to do things that can easily be delegated, then you won’t have time to focus on the bigger things. You will be too tired from your day of putting out fires and solving the smaller problems to focus on what you should have been focusing on from the start. And this sets you and your company back.

Being a CEO is no easy task. Others may not understand the challenges and obstacles that tend to get in the way of becoming a great CEO. All the responsibilities, the strategic planning and decision making to be at the top. With Morrison’s 5-step Evolved Method, he will guide you through being the best at what you do. With this method he will have you thinking differently, changing how you process problems and overcome challenges. You will be a better you, and an even greater CEO!

One of my favorite quotes from this book is “Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.” This is true in life, not just work. Excellent advice and true guidance.

If you are a CEO, let Byron Morrison guide and teach you how to deal with pressure logically instead of emotionally – showing you what not to do to avoid a disastrous outcome from short-sighted, emotional, and solitary thinking. Like the author, you will learn to be an advocate of proactive leadership, long-term thinking, thoughtful analysis, strong communications, and adaptability. Substantial knowledge within this book speaks for itself. He makes it sink in that what you don’t do is as significant as what you do, particularly if you are like many CEO’s in over their heads or overwhelmed.

Absorb text that instructs you on how to stay positive, how you choose to respond to what’s going on around you and to not allow feelings to interfere with the thought process – to evolve in planning and thinking abilities to conquer upcoming demands. You will highly benefit from mindset traits laid forth: get out of the passive state and move forward in an active positive mode, focus on what you like, not what you don’t like, and know what you need to do and do it to become a prime mover.

A glorified sales pitch

The sole objective of this book is to solicit (executive coaching) business for the author. It may offer an insight to a junior manager but has nothing of value for an experienced CEO. Almost laughable.
