Last night my youngest and I cuddled together to read about volcanoes. In less than a half hour we read this book. She’s eight years old and already new something of the subject including eruptions, earthquakes and even a bit about the “plates that move” (tectonics).
She liked the pictures and graphics which gave us things to talk about other than the text. There were very few words that posed a challenge (tsunami was one).
We talked about the good (soil benefits from eruptions) and bad (the harm volcanoes cause) and whether we would like to get near a volcano.
We both found the book an easy step to further knowledge of this subject.
