‘When Life Shortchanged Me’ is the story of young Vikramjit Singh Arora who was an ordinary face in crowd. Never taken seriously by his own friends and associates, he was always the center of controversy.
An average student from an unknown B-School, he always lived in a make belief world, before he made a right career decision that landed him in Dubai but there also he didn’t give up his habit of landing up in controversy.
Right guidance at the right time gave the much needed boost to his career and propelled him into the financial circle of New York which turned out to be the life changing event for him.
He had reasonable success in New York and then after having spent seven years abroad he suddenly left everything to comeback to India and start life a fresh. What pushed him to India and why did he choose Delhi NCR instead of Mumbai. As a market professional was he right in experimenting, being in Delhi.
He probably had a love story from school days which he was not sure of, he got to meet the love of his life in Newyork and only god knows what happened to that and then there was another twist.
Maybe love was the only thing that could have given shape to life of this equity trader…did he find the love or did he fall due to love…a man who could never go wrong in markets, what happened to his personal life?
A middle management executive with a leading Indian Private Sector Bank, Vikas Miglani is a seasoned banker with diversified experience spread across a Primary Dealer, Nationalised Bank, a Non Banking Finance Company (into Housing)
Having spent a major part of his professional life in Mumbai, he’s been living in Gurgaon for last four years with his family. He started his career as a Bond trader with a Bond House in Delhi and also worked with a Bank in Benguluru and Mumbai before shifting back to Gurgaon after twelve years.
A double Post Graduate – an MBA in Finance and a Masters in Finance & Control, Vikas has been a young achiever and carries keen interest in Financial Markets, International Economics & Politics and Sports.
An avid reader across subject range, Vikas is also a professional writer primarily into fiction and also pursues Psephology as a hobby. 'Rewards of a Shortchanged Life - a twisted Saga of Love, Money & Power' is second in the 'Shortchanged series' that he has written to explain financial markets in a fictionalised set up, highlighting the hidden tempests in the life of a market professional.
If ROSL is created in backdrop of Bond markets, his other (unpublished) work 'When Life Shortchanged Me' which happened to be the first of his writing was created in backdrop of Capital (equities) market.
While he is into reading and writing about financial markets and fiction, “Khamosh Ehsaas” happened to be his maiden attempt at writing poetry wherein he has tried to bring out various aspects of life, relationships and underlying emotions through his nazms some of which are situation based impromptu creations.
He has no prior connect to poetry and / or literature but a passion he developed through accidental penning down of thoughts during lockdown phase, sitting on the terrace of his high rise apartment and this makes the title “The accidental poet” apt for Vikas
Vikas has an uncanny knack of taking readers on the high and then dropping them off into a free falling trough and that makes his style of writing unique. He has the ability to foresee the future and incidentally what all he had captured in 'When Life Shortchanged Me' had a close resemblance to real life events which he was oblivious of, when he had written that.
Encouraged by the success of projecting reality he tried his hand at ROSL which has turned out to be a story of lifetime for him and now he is an acclaimed writer who can weave a story on a combination of events in financial markets, spicing them up with an element of romance and romance can be tragic as well as happy.
An extremely powerful story of Vikramjit Singh Arora and his journey through the different phases of life. The book presents the choices one make in their life, could be right or wrong but one must bear the consequences. Every choice has a positive and negative aspect, regret is not a solution to the problem but facing & solving it is definitely Vikram’s style. The story is so interactive that it builds up the curiosity to read what happens next. The twist and the romance is something that I adored in this book. I absolutely loved the charismatic character Vikramjit, so strong and powerful. This book is a delightful read and I definitely recommend it. Compliments to the author!
