“Then all we have to do is make his stay unbearable!”
Despite it being a constant inconvenience to the people around her, Theodosia is set on finding a love match. When her best friend’s father disappears and a new Duke takes up the mantle, she has to leave all thoughts of the marriage mart behind and be a good friend. Sabotaging and irritating the new Duke out of the house seems a harmless enough plan at the beginning, but the man doesn’t look bothered. More like he is enjoying it…
Neil Cluett, the newly appointed Duke of Fernside, has a lot on his plate. With three unmarried ladies under his care suddenly, the previous Duke’s debts to settle, and a whole new world to get accustomed to, a distraction might be ill-advised but it is certainly welcomed. Especially when it has the form of a beautiful young lady full of mischief.
As the pranks begin to escalate, so does their affection. But their families have other plans in mind. Plans that will not only jeopardize their budding courtship but their very standing in society…

Born the oldest of three children, Patricia Haverton grew up believing that she'd follow in her father's footsteps and pursue a career in science. However, her worldview changed when she decided to explore her British mother's roots. The trip to her ancestral lands solidified her conviction that she had found her true calling in the romanticism of the Era of Kings and Queens.
A hopeless romantic and a firm believer in the idea of soulmates, Patricia changed the course of her life and decided to get her degree in Creative Writing and Psychology. As she jokingly says ever so often, "she lives in the past now, where love shows the way and Dukes save the day!"
When she's not weaving tales of love that prevails, Patricia enjoys spending time with her husband, roaming the British countryside, where they have been living in for the past decade.
Now would be the time to let yourself go and experience the true magic of the Regency Era! Let your imagination run wild, live amazing adventures through the eyes of brave heroes! Like the legendary wise wizard, Patricia will be your guide!
I really hate to be pulled from a story by poor editing. Most characters were ok, some were so awful you couldn't root for them. And the dowager duchesses would not be controlling what happens in the house, especially telling the duke that he couldn't marry.
This is a wonderful book. I loved the characters. Even though I was given a copy of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion and this is my honest review.
I’m not quite sure what the author was hoping to accomplish here, but her female characters all came off as self-centred, selfish, mean, petty, and genuinely unlikable women. She claimed at the outset that Lady Esther was a kind person, but every scene showed Esther as being childish and vindictive. Theodosia is a baaing sheep acting out against Neil as a way of supporting Lady Esther in her quest to act like a see you next Tuesday to Neil. The classism was a particularly *chef’s kiss*. Neil’s mother was from a merchant family. La! How dare Neil pay off all the people her father owed money to! Let the merchants and their families eat cake for Lady Esther wants and takes and wants and takes and wants and takes but doesn’t care if the bills ever get paid.
I found myself asking “what is anyone supposed to like about any of these characters?” Theodosia is, if possible, even worse than Lady Esther because she behaves poorly out of nothing but spite and her only redeeming characteristic is that she’s pretty. Looks fade, b*+ch is forever.
Gilbert was thrust into life as a duke when a distant relative died and he inherited the title. Raised by shopkeepers in a small town, he knew only hard work. Suddenly he was forced to learn the way of the ton - the peerage elite. When he and his sister are introduced to Agnes, a Baron's daughter things changed for them all. Agnes began to help instruct in the finer points of society and their friendship turned to much more. Enter danger. Someone was sending threatening letters to all three. Something was very wrong with the Duke's ledgers. Who was behind it all? Read and enjoy as the plot unfolds
This was a fun read, with two mischievous and delightful main characters. Other characters around them are also rounded and give the story real depth as each had his or her own frustrations and desires. There was even a brief encounter with a typical, arrogant lord of the ton, whose identity was not mentioned nor important. Although their mischief almost caused a disaster, it was well meant and it was lovely that Algie took part, despite his stiff upper lip persona. A thoroughly entertaining story I would recommend to a friend.
This story centers around two families who have alway shared a close relationship along with having their estates and properties also close to each other. When one family has to deal with serious family problems of course the other family end up getting involved. Quite a bit of mischief and situations take place before all gets resolved and all four couples get their hea
Enjoyable romance story of many couples finding love with the one they want. Theodosia wants to get married .She has to be a good friend and help her friend the get rid of the new Duke .Neil Cluett the new Duke has a lot on his hands. Having to care for three young women and settle their debts. He enjoys the pranks and falls for the main prankster. A entertaining and enjoyable read. I recommend this book to other readers.
This is another good story written by this author about Theodosius and Neil who is a duke and he has taken over the estate of the previous duke and he contended with responsibilities but he fell in love with a woman that declared she would only marry for loves enjoyable story
This story has an interesting mix of very well written characters, all intertwined by circumstances beyond their control! I love the backstories which gave me the opportunity to understand why certain behaviors occurred! There are many subplots that keep you interested, and help move the main story along! I look for award to reading more of Ms Haverton’s books.
Delightful tale of filled with romance and humor. In the eyes of all, true love is worth waiting for and that is what they found despite their elders attempts to interfere
It was a nice change to read about a young lady who didn't always act ladylike. And the mischief at the end was so funny and perfect for the circumstance! Great ending.
A totally delightful tale of three daughters finding their forever loves in spite of rigid society protocol. The mischief and humor between Thea and Neil was so refreshing and fun to watch right through into their wedding day.
