After suffering an emotional nervous breakdown from witnessing his longtime girlfriend cheat on him. Darren Phillips heads off into a spiritual journey to lose himself and forget the pain. But on this journey he runs into two unknown faces that are convinced he is the man responsible for abducting a friend of theirs, which leads to Darren's imprisonment.
The only way for Darren to survive is to convince them of his innocence or wind up six feet underground.
This was SUCH a good read! Hooked from chapter one and could not put down! Twist after twist then a turn.. and I SWEAR I knew where the author was going.. I was completely WRONG! SO GOOD!
The portrayal of a man struggling to cope after suffering trauma in his life is captured brilliantly. You’re right there with him, in his mind, trying to make sense of what’s happened and what is happening as things start to further unravel for him.
The man is kidnapped by a group of people who accuse him of being involved in their friend’s disappearance. His own friends and family will assume he has taken some time out to lick his wounds, so no-one will raise an alarm or look for him. He needs to convince these people that he’s innocent. But the woman in charge is a nasty piece of work and she wants revenge.
Jesse has done such a great job with this story. You feel the MC’s pain and hopelessness. The atmosphere, the tension, the frustration, and the fear. Such a fantastic and original storyline - I loved it!
“Mistaken” by Jesse Abundis “, is an absolutely gripping and intense thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is filled with unexpected twists and turns, leading to a shocking revelation that really took me by surprise. Abundis does an excellent job of building suspense, creating tension throughout the plot as the protagonist navigates a world of confusion and trying to stay alive. The characters are well-developed, and the atmosphere is charged with danger at every turn. Overall, Mistaken is a thrilling ride that left me hooked from start to finish.
I grew up in a small town in Tennessee where there are a lot of drugs. The “hillbillies” in this book were easy to identify and with. I wasn’t expecting the twist at the end. Great short suspense novel with easy readability.
This book is a raw and unfiltered dive into a man on his worst day. This story is filled with twists and turns featuring memorable characters that had me turning the pages to see how it would end. Not for the faint of heart. The book depictions are written in such a way that will have you rooting for the MC as well as laughing at his sarcasm and hating the people he meets along the way. Quick, entertaining, and twisty read!
This book was action packed from the get go! We follow Darren the mmc on a wild journey after he discovered his girlfriend is cheating on him. The whole book you just feel awful for this guy who ends up in a terrible position due to mistaken identity. It was a short read and kept me engaged from the beginning to the end. The ending had the best twist! What a great read!
This book is very readable, but could use another round of edits. Overall, the story is decent, but confusing in a few places, until the end, which pretty much ties everything together. It is a very unique idea and a decent plot. The ending was a surprise
Well this was a nice quick read. I gave this a 3 1/2 ⭐️ but rounded up. I liked the writing style of this author but I did notice some editing mistakes. The ending kind of confused me but I searched it and then it made sense lol.
Ok I think I’m missing something because so many people loved this story. It was a quick and easy read but the ending felt too rushed. I had more questions that I needed answers to. 😕
I read this book following a recommendation by the author and I am so glad I did. It's a fantastic read. So many twists and turns and then just when you think you have it all figured out 'bam'! Did not see the end coming at all. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of this authors work.
Holy F. This is the type of psychological thriller we need more of! Short and fast paced. The ending, omg the ending! The dialogue is top notch, Darren Phillips character is just pure gold, you feel the panic, the torment, the anxiety. I've been through a nasty breakup when my partner was unfaithful, I felt the anger coming from Darren.
The author writes it to the point, doesn't waste your time with filler, I can't tell you how much I hate filler. It was refreshing to read a novel that was short but rewarding.
The ending is the one that blows everything out of the water, you're going to feel betrayed because you formed the ending as you read it, just to throw it out the window. I can see sequel coming from this, if not, I'm fine with that as well.
I had to think about this for a bit, this feels like Halloween 1978, meant for a one shot, leaving the monster in this story a mystery. Loved it.
This book was a great quick read. It was captivating from the first few chapters. Only complaint was I was to think twice about the ending because it was a bit confusing to me. But it could have been due to me reading too quickly. I would highly recommend.
Lacked transition from thought to thought; it was really just a string of random information. The overall plot is entertaining but agree with other readers that suggest more edits. Especially chapter 18-end. I don’t really understand the ending and thought it was rushed.
I think this book has potential. It was hard to follow a lot of the time. And there were quite a few typos, grammatical errors and other mistakes. It was a quick read, but I'd rather add in some character development than have a short read.
This was a short read and entertaining. I had to go back re-read a few parts to understand what was happening better. I tried listening to it first on audio book, but I couldn’t get I to that way at all.
What a rollercoaster! I really enjoyed the setting, the main characters internal monologue throughout the story, and the short chapters. The whole story kept me guessing until the very end. And the ending was very unexpected and unpredictable, which I absolutely loved. Highly recommend!
