Way off Base is a heart-warming romantic comedy about family, trust, and starting over.
A regular guy who also happens to be a rock star. A single mom struggling to rebuild her life while going through a bitter divorce. Can a case of mistaken identity transform their growing attraction into something more? Or will the foundation of lies they're building on cause it all to come crashing down around them before they can find out?
Travis has been following his brother, Johnny, around for his entire life, even going so far as to learn to play bass so he could start a band with him. It's just too bad the band actually took off. Now, instead of working with his hands and starting a family, Travis plays music while travelling the world with his brother and his best friends. Poor guy.
Finley's ex husband turned thirty and then began his downward spiral into a mid-life crisis. He started by joining a band, moved on to staying out too late and partying too much, and ended with cheating on her with random groupies who left their dirty underwear in his car. Well, he didn't end it after that, Finley did. She took the kids and left, moving into a run-down house badly in need of repairs.
Luckily, she meets a sexy handyman at her neighbours' house who can help solve all her problems. His name is Travis, and he's just a regular guy.
I’m a Canadian spicy rom-com author, lifelong book lover, coffee addict, and nap aficionado who’s lived in four provinces (BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and my current home, Alberta). My writing journey started just five years ago, and my debut novel, Second Chance, was the first book I had the courage to publish. You can grab it for free at your favourite digital retailer!
My passion lies in writing spicy, feel-good romantic comedies filled with swoon-worthy cinnamon roll heroes and strong, relatable female heroines, with the odd cameo from other characters in the same world. I want my books to make you swoon, sigh, and laugh until you cry (and maybe pee your pants a little).
I'm honestly a bit out of words today 🙈 But I'll still try to write a good review.
Travis is the last member of the band. And like all the other men, he is special too. There is so much happening inside him. He definitely is a family guy. But as a rockstar, it's difficult to have a family. He really is so cute.
This book is also set during the same timeline as the previous books. But this time there aren't that many similar events. BUT a few things got a new turn. One thing is actually funny 😁 But the rest 😱 I really didn't expect it. Even though I read all the previous books.
This book is also full of secrets. I mean secrets between the MCs. Small secrets, but also huge secrets. Especially the one with the secret identity. OK, Travis didn't make a secret about his name or his family. But not every rockstar wants to be identified... 😎 Did I think that's a good idea? No! Did I like it? Yes 🤣
Finley is such a wonderful mother. And her three kids are so adorable. Every one of them is special. But honestly, Austin is the burner. God, he is hilarious 🤣 He is only 7 and let me say, he has a few things in common with Becca (book 4). He is very fearless, except for one thing 🤣Oh I laughed in this scene 🤣
I don't think I need to say that Finley's still husband is an a$$hole. The biggest one possible. He really made me so angry 🤬 Especially near the end 🤬 I would have loved to ☠️ him!!!
I loved how much Travis loved the kids. All three of them and how much they loved him and trusted him 🥰
As I said, this is the last book. I hope there will be a book about Devon and Xena soon. They really need their HEA. I love them both so much 🩷
WHYYYY WOULD TRAVIS WAIT SO LONG TELLING FINLEY HE WAS IN THE BAND? As you can see I was slightly frustrated by that fact, mostly because the rest of their relationship was so cute and I really liked it. Also, how good Travis was with Finley's kids. Adorable. And when Travis and Finley's dad drove her ex's car (THAT SHE PAID FOR AND THAT HE DROVE NOT CAREFULLY) carefully of the road. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS.
