The book is valid and credible since it's from the author's point of view of someone who suffered from depression for years and used hypnosis to eliminate the sickness. The author answers the most common questions patients have asked him throughout his career as a hypnotherapist and provides practical tips to fight those demons. Him saying, "You are not alone in your battle with depression," is comforting too.
I study a lot of zen, and this book is so zen. It teaches you how to look depression in eye but you are looking at it in a nuanced way, and it really is instructive providing skillful means to address this. The Mexican Fisherman story I will remember forever!
As the author suffered depression himself, he wrote this book from his experiences as a victim of depression. He explains the myths, ignorance, and misconceptions about this disorder. The book is divided into 101 short chapters, discussing the topic in sufficient detail. He advises that depression, which is the worst ailment, should be taken very seriously.
For those of us who are unfamiliar with this condition, this volume is amply insightful, in my opinion.
This is just the book I’ve been wanting to write! Now I don’t have to! I greatly appreciate that he specifically touched on the stigmas, the prejudices, and everything else negative people think about and/or do toward people with depression.
I bought this book because I know someone close to me battling depression. It gave me insight on what’s going on and how I can support this person without being invasive. This is by far the best book I’ve read on depression.
Some big formatting issues and a little long, but as somebody who suffers from depression, this was very helpful and will likely help a lot of people. I recommend!
