Queen Atla is in trouble, and she's calling on Zane and Kara to help her out. When someone on the queen's court is murdered, Kara agrees to take on the role of the queen's new bodyguard. Between adapting to her new "fins" and finding her way around not only the castle but the vastness of the ocean, Kara manages to paint a huge target on her back. No surprise there. With time running out, Kara, Zane, and Link must discover who wants the queen dead before the killer strikes again. Can Kara catch the killer? Or will she soon find herself swimming with the fishes?

Watery Grave is Book 4 in the Kara Hilder Series. WOW!!!!! This book was fantastic! Kira gets a new "power"
Zane and Kara are asked by Queen Alta the ruler of Atlantis to help with a problem.
I really loved this book. It was so cool "seeing" the underwater world.
The mystery was really well written. Kara learns more about who her real dad is and Kane is there every step of the way. I love the romance between these too.
The author is so creative, it blows my mind.
Mystic Cove is a great setting for the story. The characters are just so fantastic.
When the Queen of Atlantis hires Zane and Kara to find out who poisoned her daughter and offers Kara a magic spell that turns her into a mermaid for 2 hours it seems just like any other investigation just in a slightly different location. While Kara investigates underwater just a little mesmerized by how beautiful it is underwater Zane works on land to do the same. After lots of unexpected twists and turns and more than a few surprises at the very end the murderer is revealed and the princess is saved. Loved this story, really great read.
When Kara finally meets her father, a spell is found to recreate her Mom's last day in the Cove before she disappeared. It explains so much to those who loved Astrid the most, and reveals who's responsible for her abrupt departure.
When the Queen of Atlantis, Queen Atla, comes to land asking Kara and Zane for help finding who tried to kill her daughter, the princess; they gladly accept the honor to help. But someone in the sea doesn't want their meddling and strikes back.
Kara is not only gifted a new talent, but wanders thru Atlantis to find who poisoned the princess. With a scheme to over throw the Queen, getting kidnapped, meeting her real father and discovering more about her mother, Kara proves herself to be a very strong woman. It amazes me how well Ms. Jenna adds twists and turns, adding multiple story lines and brings them all together. This is rally a sit on the edge of your seat page turner!
Another great edition to one of my favorite series. I love all the wonderful characters and friendships and how everyone is so supportive. It’s great to find out more about Kara’s family story as it is slowly coming to light and wow, so many things I didn’t expect. Another great mystery. Plenty of suspects. Kara is using new powers and some from outside sources so always fun to see how that will work out. Definitely a unique series and a pleasure to read.
Delightful, intriguing. Who wouldn't want to be able to talk to animals and to meet a Queen of the sea creatures. Added bonus, she is able to be a mermaid for two hours. Kara investigates the mysterious poisoning of the princess for the queen. Join her as she meets the magical creatures down below. Beware of Dagon though, he has dark secrets, and what really happened to Astrid?
Ms. St. James has provided another quickly paced mystery for Kara and Zane as they try to solve a mystery for Queen Alta of Atlantis. Her daughter was poisoned at her birthday party. Kara gets to enjoy a magical time of being a mermaid as she questions suspects in Atlantis and poor Zane paces on land. The mystery was filled with a few twists and several red herrings that kept me guessing until the dramatic confrontation. I love this series and look forward to each new release.
Apropos title since Kara gets to enjoy two hour tours of being a mermaid until she almost pays the ultimate price. Fortunately, Zane saves her from drowning when Skipper tells Zane she is drowning. Obviously Zane is getting more attached to Kara and vice versa.
I just love this series. A variety of characters makes it interesting. I enjoy the concept of the characters having multiple abilities. The main character is quite entertaining as she learns how to use her magical strength. These books could be stand alone but each book brings the reader closer to finding out all the secrets
Oh wow!!! Not only do we find out who Dad is but we find out what happened to Mom!!! This is so awesome! I love the imagination of the author she just whips it out like colors flowing from her fingers! This is a great addition to the series. I am loving how it unfolds and we find out who did what!!
This is a fantastic continuation in the Kara Hilder Mystery series, well done Jenna St. James. I love following along as more is revealed about the characters and how they are intertwined. There are a lot of unexpected incidents. Great read!
Kara and Zane r working for the queen of the ocean who lives in Atlantis.. someone is trying to kill her daughter.. Zane and Kara r getting closer, her cat is snarky as usual and the pixel Link is still her bodyguard, kind of lol..
I truly adore this series and the Witch in the Woods series. Both have some really fun characters, storylines are lighthearted with just enough twists. The short nature of the books, continuity of characters, and the super natural elements make these feel like a modern day Buffy meets Charmed.
This series is a hoot!!!! I like that a human detective learns that she is a supernatural being and has magic and can hear and talk with animals ( birds, etc..) This his a great series
I really wish Amazon didn’t require a minimum number of words for a review. I read so many of her books some kind of running out of words lol! I like how she tells a story, I love the twists, it’s always just an easy enjoyable read.
The other books in this series were fabulous. This one fell flat for me. I kept hoping it would pick up, but did not. I look forward to the next in series getting back to it's 5 star normal.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
The queen of Atlantis comes to Zane and Kara because her daughter seems to have been attacked twice. Kara goes underwater and meets various sea creatures.
I loved this book. This series keeps getting better with each book. In this one Kara gets to become a mermaid. It is so fun and interesting. This book is full of magic and adventure. The mystery has many twists to keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book.
... the mastermind confesses... Zane and Kara run around like bulls in a china shop, guessing rather than detecting...
Also, it's apparently okay for fishermen to kill sea creatures for food but not for anyone else to do so for potions... a rather odd double standard that sits incredibly awkwardly throughout the story...
