He’d given up on love…
…she hadn’t.

Diesel was good at what he did. It was how he got his name.
What he wasn’t good at, was letting go of the pain from the past.

Laura couldn’t get away from her past, no matter where she ran.
To her all men were liars, but she wouldn’t stop believing that there was someone out there who could prove her wrong.

Can two lost souls find what they need from one another?

We love Jessie Cooke!

We enjoyed Laura and Diesel's story. Laura is the one main character that made this book what it was. We loved her personality her sass and that she was adventurous and a trill seeker and tell it like it is kind of a girl and a girl not afraid to throw a punch, however she was a woman unlucky with love and men. She made us laugh time and time again. Loved that no matter the lucky she had with love, she still strove to find her happily ever after.

Diesel was a character that we never really warmed up to, his constant wallowing in pity got to us, and it got old real quick, however we saw something in him that would be perfect for Laura only if he could get his head out of his a** long enough. Diesel used to be a thrill seeker and he and Laura have a lot in common and their chemistry for one another was pretty evident, there was an easiness between them that was fun and flirty. Love it when love finds you when you are not even looking.

Overall, the stories ending had us cracking up and laughing so hard it brought tears to our eyes. Laura will be the perfect addition to the Southside Skulls MC and even a better old lady can't wait to see more of her she reminds me that she is a lot like Beck, and we absolutely loved her.

Looks like this author may be setting up shop with a brand-new chapter, wondering if Diesel may be the newest sitting president time will tell but, with Laura at his side, anything is possible...

Loved It!!

This author always brings me books that I love because of the hot, alpha bikers and the women that capture their hearts with the brothers always at their backs. Diesel and Detroit had met years ago drag racing but the unthinkable happened which sent Diesel running and Detroit finding another path in her life.

Now years later they get their chance only if they can get over the past. The chemistry was there. I loved the bad babe that was all Detroit and the relationship between Diesel and the prospect U-turn was hilarious at times.

All around this is another MC romance at its best. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Cooke brings next.

I don’t know what happened, but that was the worst Skulls book. The story was all over the place from the beginning, I couldn’t connect with the characters, and the writing was horrible. Don’t even waste your time with this one.

Loved going for another ride with the Skulls. Diesel is the latest in a long line of books in the Westside Skulls series by Jessie Cooke. Although each story has interconnected characters, all stories may be enjoyed as standalones.

After losing the love of his life, Diesel closes himself off to love and lives a life of hit it and quit it with the Skulls, the only family he's really ever known. Until the hottest women he's ever seen blows into town like a hurricane.

Laura "Detroit" is so sick of running. Her ex is making her life hell and she's learned once again not to trust men. That naivete tends to cost her too much. Meeting Diesel makes her question whether she was meant to end up in California and if he's the one man she can trust.

Catching up with the Skulls is always fun and Diesel was no exception. The characters are wounded and broken but learning there's still a lot to love out of this life. I know the backstory was important but honestly it meandered a little too much for me. I could've moved from the night they originally encounter each other directly to the bar and caught up without issue. I don't think the years in between added much to the story. So it took me a little too long to become invested in the story but having read this author many times, I knew the good stuff was coming so I held out. I'm glad I did because the payoff was a good one, it just a little too long to get there for me.

Another fantastic addition to this awesome series

I have loved all of the stories in this series, and this one was no exception. I enjoy reading the longer series, but unfortunately one of the downsides is that most of them become repetitive with only minor things changing each book. That's one of the many things that I love about this author and her work, each story is unique, well written, intriguing, and the details are consistent throughout the entire series. Another great thing about this series is that the stories are not only about the members of the clubs, but also include friends, family, and associates. The Skulls MC series consists of 4 different series: The Southside Skulls MC, The Westside Skulls MC, The Early Years, and The Phoenix Skulls. There is a lot of character crossover between all of them, which is why I would highly recommend that you read the Skulls MC series from the beginning. They're all absolutely fantastic stories, and you certainly won't be disappointed.
I'm really hoping that there will be many more books in the series.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Jessie Cooke is one of my favorites and the Skulls MC books are always must reads for me. Diesel and Detroit’s book was a little hard for me to keep up with at first because it captures their individual and joint stories and bounces back and forth. Stick with it though, it’s so worth it. I really like these characters. Diesel is funny and easy going, kind of skating through life with his trusty sidekick U-Turn. He meets up with the Westside Skulls at a pivotal time of his life and ends up with a family. Detroit is strong, brave and daring and has the crappiest taste in men…wow…just can’t catch a break. Luckily for her, she doesn’t let her past hold her back and soon she meets the love of her life and finds a family for herself too. Love that we got to visit with the Westside Skulls…they’re great…and spent some quality time with Tse…definitely a favorite! If I’m not mistaken, and I hope I’m not, I believe we’re in for a welcome surprise soon…and some new friends. Great read!.

This is the 36th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Diesel and Laura / Detroit’s journey. Diesel lives with the guilt of losing the love of his life, and his life is the MC. Detroit is strong, sassy, and brave, and a thrill seeker, who knows how to stand up for herself. These two lost souls ae drawn to each other, and they complete each other perfectly. This story flits between the past and the present giving a background into the lives of these characters. The chemistry between these two is combustible and undeniable, but will they take a chance on love? This is a well written raw, and gritty story, which is an action packed, emotional roller coaster, with humor, witty banter, loyalty, healing, angst, family, heartbreak, drama, violence, and love which leads to a steamy and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

To be perfectly honest I wasn't a fan of this book in the beginning. It seemed very slow to take off but I was happy I persevered because once the two main characters met I was hooked and kept turning pages until the end.
Diesel and Laura are both damaged souls and in the first few chapters we get to know the reason why.

Laura, who rides a Harley is one tough badass chic with trust issues, however, she's optimistic about finding her forever.
Diesel, the sexy tattooed biker is dealing with his own demons and only does hookups /sex not relationships.
The storyline has action, danger, drama, chemistry, humor, passion, emotions, steam and love.
This is a well written story with incredible main and supporting characters, some of them will give you several laugh out loud moments with their witty banter and teasing. Loved the loyalty and brotherhood.
I recommend it.

Diesel gives us a strangers to lovers story that finds two souls. Diesel and Detroit, that need healing and saving. Diesel lost the love of his life and left for California only to make the mistake of trying to steal a bike from a member of the Skulls MC. He was trying to kill himself because of feeling guilty about the accident that took his girlfriend. They take him in and he becomes a member. Detroit is one bad a$$ woman that loves racing however ever man that she has loved has treated her like garbage. The only male she can count on is her son. After her second husband threatens her life she takes off to California to be with her best friend Mary. While there she meets Diesel and this is where the relationship starts. Danger and twists and turns happens around the two of them.

I had a hard time getting into this book and storyline. It took me awhile to get into this book but as I kept reading I did enjoy it.

Diesel & Detroit met in the past when drag racing, but the next time they meet, both have been damaged in new ways. He's still dealing with guilt & pain after a tragedy in his life, while she's dealing with trust issues since she can't pick a good man to save her life, and in the present, she's got someone hot on her tail. I loved her so much because she's strong, sassy, and still has hope that she'll find the perfect significant other. Diesel was a big sad panda, and there were times that I wanted him to snap out of it, but grief has no time limit does it. Despite all the emotional goodness going on, there's also a lot of places where I found myself laughing hard, heat, twists coming in hot with danger behind it, and an amazing supporting cast who made the story even better. I LOVE Jessie's Cooke's writing style as it is very addictive & can bring out every emotion in me while reading so you really don't want to miss out as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This book is a part of a series. You can read this book without reading the others and still enjoy it. Diesel had a rough time over the years, some serious heartache, but finds solace in working on diesel engines and being a member of the Westside Skulls MC. Holly is one tough lady. All kinds of man trouble is thrown her way, but she still carries on. The beginning of the book takes you through the past of both their lives and you eventually end up in the present. This book had some pretty good humor in it that had me smiling like a fool sitting in my living room. The story isn't just a bunch of super hot bedroom scenes thrown togeter, although it does have that, in my opinion it's about Diesel's journey and healing. There's heartache, action, violence and drama.

Diesel & Laura

Each has a history of painful love experiences. He carries guilt as the driver of the car in an accident that took the life of the woman he loved. He makes sure any woman he's with understands he doesn't do commitments or relationships. She has only known lies from the men in her life. Is there any man out there who will be true to her? When they meet those feelings begin to shake. Could they have a future?

Those around him notice he treats her differently. When she thinks he may be different it seems he's just like the rest--will she find out he is different? Will the dangerous past chasing her catch up to her? Wolf (pres) tells her she is protected by the club. Is she safe? Will they protect her or is she on her own again?

Series fans will enjoy that there is so much club action and time with other MC characters.

This is Book 36 of Skulls MC Romance love story for Diesel and Laura. Okay so this one is a little sad and their is a lot of Drama and a little bit of Danger but the way these two interact is just down right funny. I loved the back and forth these two do. I loved that Laura has a nice right hook that she is not afraid to use when ever someone messes with her. I loved how the first time these two meet Diesel gets to meet Laura's right hand, I laughed so hard at this first meeting. I hated how hard Laura has to fight to get a little peice and quite with a good man by her side. I hated how this story starts off with these two not quit meeting but close to meeting if things had of been different. This is one wild ride for sure.

Mending broken hearts.

Diesel and Detroit’s stories are told individually first, what they’ve gone through in the past and what they are going through in the present, then together, which is unique. Diesel is informed that what he thought for years is untrue about the woman he loved. Detroit’s experience with men is horrible. Her ex is out to get her. Their heartbreak is never ending. Neither Diesel or Detroit want a relationship for obvious reasons. They go through a rocky time, until they don’t. The action is ongoing, the steam is hot and the danger is real. You won’t be disappointed in this read.

Angie's tragic death has weighed heavily on Diesel's shoulders for years.  Losing the love of his life he swore never to love or have a relationship ever again.
Laura aka Detroit has been through her share of men. They're all the same. Liars! With broken heart again and a soon to be ex on a rampage she escaped to Cali to be close to her only friend Mary.
Seeing this beautiful woman, of course, Diesel starts spewing inappropriate things out of his mouth only to end up with a bloody nose from her. First impressions! Lol.
As their relationship grows Laura's past comes back to haunt her putting their lives in danger. Good old Betty and Horse!
I missed Tse! Need to reread his story again!

It was wonderful to get back to the world of the Westside Skulls and this time we have Diesel's story He lost the love of his life and doesn't believe that he wants or deserves love again that is until he meets Laura (Detroit) she trusts no man and has walls so high around herself. But Diesel can't help himself and slowly he falls in love and his brothers in arms can see that she is something special to him but will she commit or will she once again run. This book flips between the two main characters back stories and their story together and takes a little getting used to but please persevere you won't be disappointed

Readers: This has been my favorite Skulls book to date. I laughed, loved, and cried with these two characters. Both hurt, they were looking for something different.

For Laura; she needed to get away from another bad marriage, and was afraid of her ex. She went to California to visit her best friend. What she found was herself, and a dirty talking Skull.

Diesel had his one true love, he was not looking to repeat that painful past. Then a 5'5 blonde, knocked him down, with a smooth punch to the nose.

I recommend this book!.

Painful pasts shaped Laura/Detroit and Steve/Diesel. Steve felt he could never love again. Laura kept trying to find her true love, despite the failures. Laura was a strong woman though she had some lack of confidence due to the lies she had been fed. Her past followed her, bringing danger back into her life. Steve was protective but eventually began to accept the happiness right in front of him. There were some steamy scenes, but their hearts grew together to become a wonderful couple beyond the intimate moments.

Diesel is a complex, convoluted tale spanning two decades of time, with interesting characters and a darkly daring back story. Detroit and Diesel are each beautifully broken, and their love story is a slow burn second chance at its best. The supporting characters add such flame and fire to the tale, and the unexpected plot twists just keep on coming. I love the way the author built Detroit’s bold and brave character, and how she reunites with Diesel in the most unexpected of ways. This book is filled with action, suspense, drama, wisdom, and the power of love with the family you choose.

This book was lightening fast. Laura went through men and marriages like it was no business. When she finally gets away from her latest she is already looking for the next one.
She sets her sight on Diesel but he makes a comment to her that pisses her off and she hauls off and punches him.
After he leaves she is already planning on how to hook up with him. I'm not sure how much time passes but it seemed like a few days, if that, and they are professing their love for each other and scaring off her ex so he won't threaten her any more.
This book didn't really have character or relationship building, It was just wham bam thank you mam.

This took me a while to get into the story but once I did it turned out to be suspenseful and dangerous as Laura and Diesel hunt down her ex who has been trying to get her after they have both sworn off of love. Their relationship takes some highs and lows as they overcome the obstacles in their way to their HEA.

Can two individuals with a past that is messed up become one? Both Laura and Diesel have messed up paths. She cannot find and keep a man whike diesel lost the love of his life and feels guilty. Will these two be able to show each other that they can love again. Told from two seperate pov and stories that give us the details of their past and brings us to the prese t where they meet. Interesting story.

Not like any Skulls book I’ve read

DNF 65%.
What on earth was this tripe? I have loved all of the Skulls books until this one. It was awful.
Detroit is rude and crude and trashy.
Diesel is hit it and quit it, and that’s usually the case with bikers, until they meet the “one”. But he’s also rude and crude.
I read nothing redeeming in this book. It’s so sad. I was exited to see a new Skulls book.
Was it even Cooke who wrote it?

Diesel and Detroit's story rocks! It was a different story about 2 very different people. Their paths cross when they are younger and they really don't know they crossed. It's a great book about 2 people who have had some rough times but learned about themselves. This entire series should be on your TBR list!❤️❤️❤️.

Kinda an twisted Road

Hmmm this story is ok but there are a few places the storyline kinda lost me... One minute she's with Diesel the next she's with her ex being kidnapped or run off the road... It seemed like there wasn't as much story development to insure it flowed well. I really kinda wished the street racer angle was more in this story... They could have maybe played with that more than they did... It's an good story but not the best one by Jessie Cooke.

Diesel & Laura bk36

Well if never heard of the character Diesel before in any of the other books both I've loved all the other 35 books in the series so far so must be a reason for this book of only to introduce other characters or past characters back into the fold.
But nope, wasn't that fussed on this book it jumped, flipped flopped from character to character, chapter to chapter, year to year, past and present then all got tied up in a bow right at the end with a Tah-Dah!!
