When I was a child, my lovely Christian neighbor lady gave me this book to read, possibly wanting to inspire me with something heartwarming and hopeful to offset the barrage of scare tactic teen peril alert novels I seemed to receive from the other caregivers in my life. (She also had me watching a lot of Waltons episodes in contrast to my steady diet of imminent nuclear war, Russian invasion, MADD, DARE, and HIV/AIDS warning fare that my home television offered up. I’m so glad we survived all that to find ourselves here in 2018, when everything on the national scale is going so clearly super fantastic now in contrast.) In any case, I LOVED this book and came away fully convinced that my new destiny of adopting 30 children would be absolutely okay fine no problem whatsoever. Everyone gets along well and seems to be on board with the whole endeavor, and most importantly, there seem to be no significant resource deficits and everything goes along pretty swimmingly. As I grew up and eventually moved away from an area where one can easily purchase a home for around 30K, I radically adjusted my expectations and am currently content with my scaled back family consisting of a rescued Australian Shepherd and two Save The Children sponsees (who still owe me a letter!). Nonetheless, I still have extremely fond memories of this beloved book. Thanks yet again to the What’s The Name Of That Book??? GR group for helping me track it down!
