Sophia was working in her home when two men came to the house one kidnapped her and the other went after her husband. Brian tried to explain to her that she wasn’t married, he was rescuing her from the man who had bought her. Even though she was beaten severely and had bruises around her throat she insisted that she was fine and her husband hadn’t hurt her any more than she deserved. She tried to get back home. She was afraid of what her husband would do to her if she wasn’t there when he got home. Weeks later she was beginning to feel safe and believe that she had not been married and that he is dead. But he attacked the house trying to get her back. All the men were killed except him and he was arrested. Brian asked her to marry him and head back to his home in the west.

I love how Brian is so patient with Sophia. She had it the hardest out of the survivors that were rescued. It shows patience and perseverance with love will win out. Beautiful story.
