Because of You is a Represent Publishing anthology about love, growth, and finding peace. This is a collection of four short stories by Ashlyn Drewek, D. Allyson Howlett, Danielle Merchant, and Chelsea Lauren.
"Spirits n' Chai" by D. Allyson Howlett
Raina, an introverted artist, is fine with how her life is. She’s safe, and she’s comfortable—sort of. Regardless, she’s making her own choices and living the life she wants to live; more than she could say nine months ago. But when Raina is thrown out of her comfort zone, haunted by a ghostly spirit in search of closure, Raina has to decide between stepping face first into her fears or remaining in the shadows forever.
"Wither" by Ashlyn Drewek Working for literary sensation Gerulf Prince should have been a dream job for aspiring author Zane Beaumont. Six months, all-expenses paid, and one-on-one time with his favorite writer? It sounded too good to be true—because it was.
Still reeling from an accident that left him lame and disfigured, Gerulf Prince has struggled with his career, but that doesn’t mean he needs an assistant, let alone someone like Zane, hanging around all day. With a deadline approaching, Gerulf’s faced with a decision he never saw coming—break his contract and face a legal firestorm or submit his novel and lose his newfound muse forever.
"Fairytale Ending?" by Danielle Merchant
At 29, Courtney refuses to be single on Valentine’s Day. Last year, on that very holiday, she was dumped by a man she thought was the one. Almost a year later, she is tired of waiting for Mr. Right to fall into her lap, so she is taking matters into her own hands. Her solution: online dating to curate her perfect Valentine’s Day. This light-hearted love story is about letting go, being patient, and having faith in the Universe’s plan.
"All A-Boat You" by Chelsea Lauren
Evie had envisioned a different life for herself by the time she turned 30. But as the days creep closer to the big 3-0, she’s still a workaholic, single, and always the maid-of-honor, never the bride. Evie has one wish: a day dedicated to her on a sailboat with her best friends. Little does she know that while on the edge of a burnout is the day her entire luck changes. It starts with a tea latte and ends with the next chapter of her life.
Chelsea Lauren is a contemporary romance author. Chelsea has been writing ever since she had vivid dreams in middle school. The only cure was to write them down, and only then, did Chelsea realize she could become an author.
She’s an upstate NY native, establishing roots in her hometown with her husband and two pups.
Chelsea is the founder of Represent Publishing, a self-publishing company dedicated to helping authors strengthen their writing, edit, and publish their novels. Her passion lies in helping others accomplish their dreams.
When Chelsea isn’t writing or working on her business, you can find her devouring books, snuggling with her pups, or having game nights with her friends.
Great read, four different, distinct stories. I enjoyed everyone of them, although different writing styles. I found myself laughing out loud through the story Fairytale Ending? I want to say thank you so much for bringing romance to the reader. Light hearted and a great escape! Can’t wait for more from these authors.
I picked this anthology up for one specific story (Spices n' Chai by D. Allyson Howlett) but I stayed for all... and I was not disappointed! I liked all four stories so much that I kinda wished I could read a longer version of each one. I'm telling you... this anthology is soooo lovely! 😍
Relatable, easy to read, but craved more, especially at the end. Figuring out her life while figuring out to escape the room. Way to rock that analogy, so good! Dating is so hard and this did a solid job of describing the pitfalls but excitement. The classic Pro Con list was one of my favorite parts, such a demonstrative selectively of our preferences, strategically leaving out the things we need to put on it. Honestly didn’t need the epilogue. I loved how each chapter started with the morning and ended with her head on the pillow dreaming.
(reviewing the 3 stories I did not write and anthology as a whole)
All the stories were wonderful in their own way. I am not much of a romance reader and some of the styles weren't quite my cup of tea, but overall it was a great little anthology that flowed well and complimented the genre.
