Protecting the woman he couldn’t forget… Means risking his defenseless heart.
Rancher Johnny King thought he’d moved on since Chelsea Black left town to follow her big-city dreams. With his emotions still raw following his father’s murder, Chelsea’s return revives passions he’d thought buried. But a dangerous stalker from her old life doesn’t want her to set down roots—with anyone. As their spark reignites, can Johnny and Chelsea face the threat to their lives…and their hearts?
2.5. Meh. Too repetitive, saying the same thing over and over (example: “it had been 10 days since Johnny had shown Chelsea the house and the past 10 days had been a flurry….”). too many instances of that made the book annoying.. Also, how’d she buy a house, go through inspections and close so fast? When they looked at it, it was a fixer upper, but the first thing the hired handyman had to do was paint? Just a hard book for me to get into and I ended up skimming quite a bit.
I liked the storyline and the characters. I liked the mystery. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was Chelsea constantly saying, “I’m not on drugs and I’m not mentally unstable”. She knew who spread the rumors and that it was not true, but multiple times throughout the book she told herself , I’m not on drugs and I’m not mentally unstable”. It made no sense to say that to herself.
I really enjoyed this book and series.I read book 2 first,I liked that so I read this. It's a good suspense and love story. Who killed Big John? is still the question to be answered. I like family ties to deal with and support each other at this time of sorrow and the love story. This makes the characters real. They still have to take of the ranch and daily choices. The killer is the last person you suspect. I can't wait to read book 3. Great series
