M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. She often procrastinates by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open; she is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition.

Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has multiple projects under way, in the hopes that her portfolio of what have been described as “everyday love stories for everyday people” will continue to grow. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.

Her main reason for writing is to not only give her readers enjoyment, but also to create a story and characters that stay with readers long after the book is finished, and possibly make someone stop and think “what if . . . ”

A rookie romance was an awesome read. I’ve read quite a few of M.B. Feeney’s books and this had all the elements I’ve come to love.

Mason is the rookie of the F1 racing. He’s new the the fan clubs, circuit and publicity. Abi is one of his online fans. When he starts talking to her he finds more than a fan. He wants to know more about her and as their friendship grows so does there love for the sport. Will they find a happy ever after or will the game get too much?

This is written from duel point of view with messages and sports updates. This is close to being my new favourite by this author. 5* out of 5. I can’t wait for the next book.

As a F1 fan I approve of these F1 romances and there definitely has to be more in the future.

I absolutely loved hearing everything and everything F1 in this beauty especially the Michael, Lewis, Lando and George name drops lol.

Abi is a huge F1 fan, has been most of her life. Growing up with her dad being a fan had her following in his footsteps. As soon as Abi seen the rookie’s (Mason) first race, she knew she had to set up a fan account to show her support. What she didn’t expect is what exactly would come from that account.

Mason has just entered F1, he’s the rookie doing his best at all times. He’s determined to get the podiums and do well for his team. What he never expected was just how popular he’d become on social media..so when he spots his first fan account he’s quick to follow.

Watching the conversations from that first comment to the DM’s has been fun to see. I absolutely love the idea of an idol and his fan, it’s cute. These two hit it off really well and have lots in common. I love how easy it is between them.

The only thing I didn’t like is the whiplash I got from their first meeting…to what happened after…I’m all for instant connections and chemistry and what not but that was insane. There was nothing in between…just a massive jump…and no, it just didn’t do it for me. I wished it had been spread out a little more than that with actual detail with what happened between rather than these what we actually got.

Other than that it was a fun read. I loved the drama that came with the cuteness. Unfortunately every fandom has their bitchy fans, the jealous fans that will do anything to make someone feel small but with every bitchy fan there’s ten amazing ones which cancels all the shitty people out and in this book we get to see how hurtful some fans can be.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book from this author because I suck lol but as soon as I picked this up I remembered how much I loved her writing. Her characters are great and the storyline was intriguing, I loved it.

Book: Rookie Romance
Author: M.B. Feeney
ARC REVIEW

This book was a fun, quick, light read with a slow burn 🔥 that lead to a sweet HEA 💗

Abi is a huge fan of Formula 1 Racing (which thanks to this book I learned all about!) Mason is a Rookie F1 driver! Abi has a fan account on IG for Mason and he takes notice…not only of the account but of her as well! There is some super cute DM banter between these two that I really enjoyed.

One day they happen to bump into each other while out and about and that’s when things get steamy! For me personally, I would have like a little more depth into the love scenes, as there were a few fade to black moments, but there was one that really satiated my needs. This is totally subjective per reader and I prefer lots of steam. But not everyone is like me and that’s totally ok…to each his own. I still enjoyed it 💚

The author did hit on the topic of cyber bullying, which I really liked. People can be vicious when they are hiding behind their keyboards and it can be very overwhelming for the person on the receiving end. I’m happy that Abi eventually stood up for herself, which is not always easy to do. She had mentioned something that really stuck with me regarding social media and follows/likes- you can’t base your happiness on how many you get! I think too much emphasis is placed on this in current society. Follows don’t equal friends. She’s right “there are more important things in life.” So bravo to Abi!

I think one thing I would have liked a bit more of was an insight into their lives a few years or so into the future. I live for that kind of stuff so I will always gladly take more lol!!! But all in all, I liked it and it brought a smile to my face 😊

I was so excited to read an F1 inspired book. I love the accuracy of these elements of the story, the terminology, nicknames, even nods to current drivers. It's done exceptionally well.

The main characters are interesting. Mason - The rookie driver, caught up the whirlwind of F1 life, like a deer in the headlights, trying to navigate his new life but still pining for the comfort of home. Abi, a terminal fangirl, ends up living something most fandom folk have dreamed about but she ultimately has to decide if it's worth it. I enjoyed her character growth and eventually, she fights for what she truly wants.

This book is brave. It gives a real, glaring insight into the pack mentality and fragility of fandom, which touches a nerve many have been close to. For whatever sport, band, film, TV show you love loudly, there is mostly open arms and a warm welcome but the pack is fickle and in a heartbeat will turn, even on those at the core.

Fandom is still a little bit of a taboo subject. People are shamed for being part of it, admitting it and loving it. Sometimes it's a safe place where people can be their truest and most authentic self, sometimes it's vile. This book is an honest and true reflection of both sides.

It shines a light on how brutal, anonymous and fake social media is. How easy it is to sit and type with no thought for the ripple effect and how damaging a few short words can be.

I would love to see where life takes Mason and Abi next

Bravo!!

As an F1 fan, this was a must read for me. I loved the ideas Feeney plays with in this book, and she definitely captures all sides of human nature.

Abi and Mason are the cutest. I love the natural and organic way their relationship grows. They accept the flaws, the niggles and the scary prospect it is to fall so hard so fast.

The F1 mentions are fab. Enough to excite mega fans like myself, but not too much to scare those who fancy a romance in a different setting to the cliché beach front or coffee shop.

Finally, the fandom and the crazy it brings. Feeney is masterful at portraying the disgusting jealousy and cutting sides of online fandoms. She shines a light on those dark personalities, and I loved it.

Fab book, definitely one you want to read, and I'll be recommending it far and wide!

As an F1 follower, I was excited to read this. It's an enjoyable read and although my first M.B. Feeney, it won't be my last. Feeney's style of writing is nice and easy to read. The story flows well and I very much enjoyed hearing from both characters. There were a couple of points with factual issues that I brought to the author's attention, but they, in no way, detracted from my enjoyment of the story. This novella would be suitable to those, like me, that enjoy a short read, a nice romance with some heat, and pleasant characters. It's refreshing to have humble characters, people we can easily relate to. I'm sure we all want to be Abi, Mason is just delightful. I'd highly recommend A Rookie Romance to those that are looking for a quick easy read with likeable, British characters.

I enjoyed reading A Rookie Romance and couldn't put it down.
Personally I've never watched/followed F1 but that didn't make any difference.
It actually made me consider watching it sometime.
This book was a good reminder of how nasty social media can be but also how it can quickly bring people together in a good way.
I loved the chemistry between Abi and Mason. Here's hoping for another book for Mason's next racing season/career.

Wow, first time reading this amazing author and first formula 1 based story and it was truly amazing.

It felt rushed in places but it made sense to the story, especially for the sport. I loved the way the author did the social media messages and comments, they seemed really realistic.

The chemistry and connection between Mason and Abi was incredible. Great read from third person.

Highly recommend this book and the wonderful author. Can't wait to see what is next, now to go hunt for more great reads from this addictive author.

Really enjoyable read from this author. Loved the writing style and the snippets of messages and social media comments made. Made me chuckle several times. I'm not a fan of f1 so worried it would go over my head but it didn't matter one bit as thankfully it wasn't too technical regarding the sport so easy to pick up and read no matter how little you know of the sport. Abi and masons story is funny, enjoyable and a delightful read.

A brilliant read

This is the first novel of MB Feeney's I've read and I will be reading a lot more of her work in the future!!

As a fan of F1 I really enjoyed this book, and I think the author has reaserached the subject well I am not a user of Instagram but the exceptional writing by the author made it easy to understand how this form of social media works

The book was a quick fun read with a few twists and turns, I think the author did an incredible job in her writing highlighting the many good sides of social media as well as showing that there can be some negatives

One of the main characters is the rookie driver of an F1 racing team, He is new to publicity and fan club elements that go with being a racing driver Another character Abi is a fan who is as single mature student and part time shop worker who lives at home with her parents and runs a unofficial online fan club when he starts talking to her he finds more than a fan. He wants to know more about her and as their friendship grows so does their love for each other, as the friendship grows Abi receives a significant amount of online abuse from a members of the fan club and so called "friends

A great book and thoroughly enjoyable read

How much can a person's mental health take before they crash and burn?
I'm not an F1 fan, don't really know anything about the world, but I love me a good romance and witty, intelligent dialogue amongst a wide array of characters. Feeney never fails to deliver on the last, so I trusted her on the first and found myself in a new realm. One full of burning tires, crashes, and even scarier, the social media gauntlet of die hard fans. Well-written, A Rookie Romance would easily engage even the most novice F1 person, but the heart of the story could apply to anyone in the limelight, not just race car drivers. Fame is grand but not all fans are good, especially when matters of the heart are at stake.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I was very lucky to receive an ARC for it.
It was such a cute and fun romance to read and I devoured it in a day on my travels to Manchester.
The spice was on point and didn’t take over the plot which I loved. The characters were so easy to love and it was an ideal quick read!
I’ll definitely be reading more or this author’s works in the future.

WOW! OMG Mich, I think you have out done yourself! I absolutely loved this. I'm hoping there's gonna be more of these. It actually felt like I was there sharing it with them. I read it in pretty much one sitting. Well done on creating such a realistic world, with all the good and bad that goes with being a sporting celebrity.

✿.。.:* ☆:**:. 𝐀 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞.:*☆*.:。.✿

𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐲 (H), Mitchell Racing’s reserve driver, proved his worth in both Formula 2 and 3, and stepped in for Logan Burnett, who was replaced for the final race of the season. One night he searches his name up on Instagram, and finds the user handle @crawleyfan1 and follows them back because he’s never experienced having a fan account solely dedicated to him. Being the first fan account he follows, he gravitates towards 𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐖𝐢𝐜𝐤 (h) the owner of the account. The two start to talk daily, and find comfort in each other… even thought it’s probably not the best PR choice. When a “friend” leaks that she’s the person who has been hanging around Mason, things go downhill because fans begin to attack her and she loses a sense of privacy.

*•.¸♡ ★·.·´ 𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 ★·.·´¯`·.·★ ♡¸.•*

I thought it was a cute premise, she has a fan account for a F1 driver and he follows her back? I know I would be over the moon and would never get over it, she’s Y/N. It was so cute to see the friendship they formed first and how she never wanted to share what Mason talked about with her friends in the group chat because she wanted to keep it between them. I don’t think she was starstruck when they started talking consistently, it just threw her off when they met for the first time.

I will say that I hated the escalation from friendship to romance, and we never got to see how they ended up back in his room. One minute, they say they are going to dinner and the next chapter they’re literally in bed together… there was no development there at all. It just kind of happened and I wish that there had been a moment to establish the angst before they finally got together. I had been loving the book up until that point, because they suddenly had romantic feelings and had this undeniable connection. While it was interesting to see them finally meet, it was odd that the first thing they did was get intimate when they could have prolonged it.

When the media finds out she’s the fan who has been seeing Mason, there is mixed emotions from everyone. Some people attacked her and others were happy for her, but she just didn’t want to deal with it and she logged off her account. They did end up together and are dating, it just happened so quickly and we really don’t know if they’ll truly be endgame. There are missing details about her career, their future together, and how they will balance his time away.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, it was a cute f1 romance and I love the mention of actual drivers such as Lewis and Lando 💞 it makes it so much more interesting when you have f1 context because you can really imagine the podium and press conferences.

3.5/4 stars.

This isn't my first read by his autbor, in fact, I think I've read most of her back catalogue. I was instantly attracted to this book, because love a racing romance, and I liked the cover. The story was different to what I've come to expect from this author. I didn't feel a connection to the characters for some reason. Mason and Abi are worlds apart. He's a F1 racing car driver and she's a fan. Their exchange from their online talking had more of a spark to it than their face to face encounters. I think for me the jump from sitting in a coffee shop then missing out the pub scene and 1st bedroom scene was a detrimental mistake, because we didn't get to feel that first moment of lust. We were just told and not shown. Then it was pretty much over at that point. I would have just liked more from the romance side and a little less from the fan girling promo posts. But that is my personal opinion.

Being a huge F1 fan, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. But I absolutely loved it!

It showed how Abi and Mason had to battle through so many problems with their relationship. I've seen what people write on social media about drivers and that can be both vitriolic and supportive. M B Feeney nailed this on the head, giving the reader a true sense of how it can affect the people involved in the comments.

There was just the right amount of steam and life in the F1 world. I wished it had been a little longer, but that's just me. It certainly didn't detract from the story.

Five well deserved stars!

Loved this from start to finish! M.B Feeny never fails to draw you in but add in the added sport basis of F1 and I was hooked even more.

In a world where group chats have become more the norm and the pros and cons of social media are discussed constantly, Feeny gets this spot on!

If you want a sports romance, look no further than A Rookie Romance!!

I'm gonna need a sequel!!

I would say this book was kinda like a 'Long story short' , bcuz that's how short of a version was this bk of it supposed to be original version.. it was a fast burn romance...even though I didn't feel like there was much time given to romance btw the couples bcuz of how fast paced this story was..like the first time they met they got all intimate without even having any deep talks..I mean she's a fan and he's an F1 racer..so It would only be right if they ever really opened up to each other before starting a relationship and neither of them were not looking for something casual..so
... Therefore I feel like this was an average or below average romance

Don't recommend it 👎🏼

There are so many aspects of this story that I love. I thought the addition of the online articles that give all the F1 information without it taking away from the romance of the book was a fantastic insight by Feeney. I love seeing the other side of fandoms created by the author - not all of them pleasant - and the idea of a celeb sliding into a fans DMs is something I'm sure we've all thought about. Mason and Abi are a thankful addition to my list of favourite book couples. Another great read from one of my favourite authors.

I've been on a small MB Feeney book reading binge lately and this one was next in line for me to read.
When Ash starts a fan account for a new up and coming F1 driver she could never imagine how much it would change her life, sometimes not for the best.
Mason is finding his feet with his new career and after finding a fan page on himself, he starts to fall into the world of his new fans!
The sparks and chemistry was flying for these guys, loved how normal they both were.
Great read that you don't want to stop reading once you start!
