Always in the Cards

Rate this book
Every month it’s the same thing, waiting for that pink plus sign to show us our family is growing. But every month it’s nothing but heartbreak.

Rusty Richards is my other half. My best friend since forever. My ride or die. We did everything right. First came love from friendship, then came marriage, but we still don’t have a baby in the carriage.

Time is running out and it feels like the deck is stacked against us. Maybe it’s time I stopped counting the cards and just let fate determine if being parents is in the cards for us.

~Books, wine and a spicy good time ~

DL Gallie writes spicy romance with elements of comedy and suspense. She currently lives in Central Queensland, Australia, her husband and two teenagers. She and her husband have been together since she was sixteen, and although they drive each other crazy at times, she couldn’t imagine her life without him.

Shortly after her son was born, DL began reading again. With encouragement from her husband, she picked up the pen and started writing. Almost ten years later and the voices in her head won’t shut up.

DL enjoys listening to music, drinking white wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and beer all year round. She’s also never been known to turn down a cocktail, especially a margarita.

The topic of ttc and having trouble is relatable. If you’ve ever had troubles with that then you know more than most how disappointing it is to see a negative pregnancy test. I liked that the MC’s grew up as best friends until they admitted their feelings towards each other.

I would have liked to see this as a full novel instead of a novella. The first half were told about their troubles and then when she gets pregnant we only get her reaction, I would have liked to see more of that and her actually pregnant bc in the next chapter we have an 8 month time jump.

Some of the dialog was cringe worthy, some could have been them making jokes. But there was some out of pocket lines - “My vagina needs your dick.” “So bossy but because my dick wants a vagina hug from you, I’ll fuck you, like the demanding woman you are.”

OMG this short story is steamy, entertaining and swoony, a perfect love story with the most perfect couple Drew and Rusty .

Even though is a short story you see glimpses of how Rusty and Drew became the cutest couple ever. Their friendship started when they were just little kids but as they got older they knew they were it for each other. Now they are marry but unlikely there is not bun in the oven yet.

This couple has try and try and try lol, you see a lot of that in this book and it feels like time is running out but what I loved about this couple is that their love for each other just got stronger every single day.

But what is always in the cards will happen right?

Great story

Drew and Reese have been married for years and are wanting to grow their family. However, it's just not happening as they planned it and Drew is questioning if she did something wrong to not be pregnant yet.

Gallie does a great job writing and sharing the deep and oftentimes painful emotions behind this topic especially since there are often more questions than answers.

Quick spicy read
Rusty & Drew have been together for 20 years. The only thing missing in their relationship is a baby. They have been trying for a while with no success.

At just 44 pages, this is a very quick read with spice on page one. I wouldn’t call it fantastic by any means, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

It also serves as sort of a prequel to Deck…the Balls which is about Drew’s best friend Reese and Rusty’s boss Jesse.

This was such a short story. I guess with the topic at hand I wasn't expecting the story to be this short but it still was pretty nice all in all. Honestly, I didn't get to fall in love with the characters but they weren't unlikeable and we actually opened at a pretty 'steamy' scene.

It's a pretty decent snack size story with a cute resolution.

This book needs to be a full length novel. I loved Rusty and Drew and would have love to see more of how their relationship grew throughout the years. ❤️ This was super short but still so sweet and now I need to read Reese and Jesse’s book.

This was a good read. The overall plot was good and i liked both main characters. However, i felt like such a topic wasn’t really looked at much, it was mainly smut which is always good but when the draw has been a big topic for it then to not be looked at much it was kind of like okay then. In the end it was a good short read by this author.

Smut on page one? ABSOLUTELY!
Short, sweet, and to the point. Grade school sweethearts all grown up and trying to become parents.
*trigger warning for infertility*
Plus the beginning of the side story of the best friend, leading into the next book!
If you’re looking for a quick read, with some spice, pick this up!
