This book has 30 short chapters that make for good daily devotional reading. Some chapters I found more interesting than others, but I'm sure others will enjoy the chapters that held less of my attention. Each chapter lays out an OT passage, explains the deeper meaning, and then tries to tie it to Christ, which I appreciated. I also appreciated that Williams repeatedly emphasized that knowing Hebrew doesn't unlock some secret hidden meaning of the passage. English translations can accurately convey the meaning of the text, but knowing Hebrew can give you a more well-orbed view into the biblical author's thoughts and literary style.

What a gift! Many treasures of the Bible are hidden from most modern readers. Michael kindly unearths a few that opened my eyes to the depth and meaning in these passages.

I tell my exegesis students to pay attention to what they read. The title of this book may make it sound like some sort of "Bible code" nonsense, but it's not. It is an exercise in teaching the reader how to read the Bible by paying attention to what you read, especially if you have some grasp of the biblical languages. But you the reader doesn't need Hebrew and Greek to benefit from reading this book. Williams knows how to make things clear to the non-specialist. And he is especially good at showing how these particular Old Testament passages take the reader to Christ. Highly recommended.

Easy read, but a solid little book on hermeneutics. I’d recommend to anyone starting out in scriptural interpretation.
