A fun read for either kama'aina families or for a gift to send back after visiting the islands. While it never mentions Hawaii specifically, if you've ever visited, you can't see geckos and palm trees (look out the windows) and not connect the two!

For the book itself, the illustrations are adorable! My favorite is the first little gecko who stays all curled up until the end - so cute! The rhyme is fairly comfortable throughout and makes for an easy read-aloud. This makes for a great counting or bedtime book, and could be added to a storytime on geckos, counting/numbers, bedtime (like a Stuffed Animal Sleepover program), or Hawaii (especially if you're in the islands).

My parents bought this for my kiddo after they vacationed in Hawaii. An adorable counting book that tells the story of a large group of geckos who discover bed sharing is not all it's cracked up to be. In one part of the book, there is a bit of a stumble with the rhyming rhythm (at the 6 gecko page, I believe), but otherwise it is a cute and fun read.
