She’s about to tackle everything he’s trying to hide.
When unlucky-in-love Carys McTeague is offered the job of caring for an injured footballer, she goes for it even though it’s far removed from the world she’s used to.
Scottish football hero Troy Copeland is at the centre of a media storm after a serious accident left him with career-threatening injuries and his fiancée dumped him for a teammate. With a little persuasion from Carys, he flees to the remote Isle of Mull to escape and recuperate.
On Mull, Carys reconnects with someone unexpected from her past and starts to fall in love with the island – and Troy. But nothing lasts forever. Carys has been abandoned more than once and as soon as Troy’s recovered, he’ll leave like everyone else.
Troy’s smitten by Carys but has a career to preserve. Will he realise he’s been chasing the wrong goal before he loses the love of his life?
Margaret is a Scottish author and chocolate lover who has been writing stories for over twenty years (possibly more if you count her primary school efforts). Her early works will never see the light of day and are locked in dusty vaults on some old floppy disks. But after all those years of practise, Margaret released her first novel A Winter Haven in 2021. This is the first of a ten-book series set on the gorgeous Scottish Isle of Mull. The stories are unashamedly romantic but with lots of drama and an eclectic mix of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but followers of the series will enjoy catching up with previous characters. A new spin-off series based in the Scottish Highlands is coming out in 2023. Look out for the Glenbriar Series throughout the year.
If you like Roy Kent in 'Ted Lasso' then you'll love Troy Copeland in 'A Striking Result'.
This book has a hot grumpy footballer and a fabulous female lead. It's got love, mystery, humour and heart, all set against the stunning background of the isle of Mull. I loved this story so much!!!
Another work of art by Margaret Amatt and probably my favorite in the series so far! Carys is a determined young women with big dreams but deals with abandonment issues. Troy Copeland is an injured football player who behaves lofty and arrogant in order to hide a secret he's ashamed to admit. When chance pairs Carys as Troy's carer and therapist, they find the strength and courage that they need in each other in order to face their demons head on. This book was an absolute joy to read!
Another absolute gem from Margaret Amatt! With stunning scenery, a utterly endearing heroine and a gorgeous hero in need of saving from himself- this book has it all! Full of heart warming moments and hilarious dialogue, I highly recommend this book!
When football star Troy is involved in a car accident he employs Carys as his carer to help his recovery. Carys hasn’t a clue about football and doesn’t realise Troy is a Celtic and Scotland International star player. Her dad is a fanatic Rangers fan!. The press are bothering Troy, so he buys a property on Mull and Carys goes with him. On Mull they are in for a few surprises as the press photograph them and Carys comes face to face with her stepmother. A story which uncovers Troy’s dyslexia and his recovery and forces him to think about what he really wants. Is football the way forward for Troy or is there another path mapped out for him. These two belong on the same team!
Carys and Troy are the perfect example of grumpy vs sunshine. Set on the Isle of Mull, this is a beautiful backdrop for a story full of self discovery and second chances.
