Best-friends, Princess, Naomi, Monique and Kristina, all have lies they tell along with secrets they want to keep. But what happens when one friend’s lie can ruin all of their lives? Messy: The Lies We Tell. This perfectly titled story captured my attention from the very beginning and never let me go. I was on high alert the whole book, trying to see how this story would come together.

There are four leading ladies: Princess, Naomi, Monique, and Krissy. Unfortunately, but fortunate for readers, this was a good example of how messy friendships can be. While I would have loved to see an unbreakable sisterhood between these characters, I appreciated the drama they brought.

From the beginning, I sensed that there was some tension between two of the ladies and my senses never let me down. My heart broke the most for Monique, the lone married friend of the bunch. I could tell she was unhappy in her marriage but had to keep up the façade of how lucky she was to her friends. Princess and Naomi were my favorites, I can tell they were genuine and wanted the best for themselves and their girls... Then there is Krissy, she reeks jealousy, I could see it at the beginning. She was sneaky and karma definitely paid her a visit.

For so many characters, it was easy to keep up with the storyline and I was so into the story that I never confused the stories or which character was talking. The book is told in third person and I think that really helped. The author did not hold back with the details or the plot twists and I was swiping pages so fast towards the end it was crazy! There was one scene that took me aback and I had to take a deep breath because it was a lot. I really understand why but it can be a trigger for some readers. The grueling details, backstabbing, and timely messiness has me eager to see how this story will come together. I enjoyed this read.

This was definitely messy boots, okay? 😂This had me on the edge of my seat. Whewww this was definitely a wild ride and I enjoyed every moment. I loved how clean the story line was and how she expertly kept everything on track. The writing and dialogue was on point. And that ending…😳 I can’t wait until the next book!

Phenomenal, Messy Read!

“He could only control so many things when it came to her and her love wasn’t one of them.”

This story was so complex—messy is an understatement—yet so filled with many gems and love that oozed from the pages. Every character, whether you like or dislike them, you'll feel inclined to keep reading more about them. You'll feel eager to see how their portion of the story unfolds and what they have in store for you next with each chapter. Every character has a lie they either told to themself—to convince themself of something—or to sway and deceive someone else. And each lie intertwines and spirals in ways that shatter the small worlds these characters have built. As close as these people are, as connected as they are to each other, a few of them find themselves realizing they don't truly know each other at all... and the close-knit bonds they formed aren't impenetrable.

From the lies told, the betrayals, the triumphs, the “I love yous and I hate yous”… I was hooked. I was screaming, “Take me to the manor, please!" the deeper I got into the story... the more I read. I feel like I know these characters. Some of them I would consider to be my enemies, a few of them I would call my good friends, and two of them specifically I would want to wife me up—kisses to Capri and Kordai! This novel has everything you could want to read in a book. Everything. Porschea left nothing uncovered. “Messy: The Lies We Tell” is a 2022 must-read. It is one of the best books I’ve read this year, if not the best.

Good Read!

Four friends- Princess, Monique, Naomi and Krissy- are not strangers when it comes to relationship issues and as messy as this book got, the group soon finds out that secrets always comes to the light. At every chapter, we dug deeper into the web of lies that some were spewing and I promise you if your not paying attention, it’ll fly right by you. Naomi and Monique were both characters that I couldn’t wait to read what happened next. Naomi catching feelings for a Kordai who was not suppose to be nothing more than a situationship and Monique the unhappy housewife who I was rooting for to speak up about her unhappiness with her husband Malcolm and his overbearing parents. Chile a mess. I wanted to slap his dad so bad🙄. Princess had her issues with Giannas and baby let me tell you, sis lowkey annoyed me in this book. Both her and Monique had me screaming, “Stand UUUPP!”🤣But towards the end I was rooting for her too. Now the most trifling “best friend” award goes to Krissy. She was the most unhinged & touched bihh in this book and I was ready them tables to turn. Cuzz one thing about them tables😏… OK!!

Overall, I thought the book was good. It definitely kept me entertained and second guessing myself. The story flowed well and the drama was definitely there. I was diving into the authors inbox cuzz I had questionss! I was so engrossed in the storyline and plot. This is my first book by the author and she truly didn’t disappoint. Looking forward to reading part 2 because the ending had me bent!

Baby this was messy in the M E S S I E S T way. How you suppose to be somebody best friend but you secretly hate her and want her man and she has been nothing but a good friend to you. Then you cross her by doing some foul stuff behind her back and then you start black mailing her man and trying to make things seem like one thing when they were another. Chyyyyyyyyy! Princess owed Kristina rancid p*ssy ssa a dragging, not an ssa whooping but a DRAG. Princess your light was so bright and beautiful despite the heart ache and pain you had to endure. You were strong, brave, and kind. Giannis did a lot of bad BUT he vowed when he proposed that he would change his ways and he did. Krissy just lied. He definitely loved you down to yo dirty draws Princess. I loved how he loved you even when it was hurting him due to his miscommunication. I loved how you made the decision to put yourself 1st and stand on it. Naomi, I loved how you knew what you wanted and didn’t settle or lower your worth. You knew you loved Kordai but you refused to let him play with you or your feelings and you showed him that he had to come correct. And when he did, he ain’t let up. Y’all learned and grew together and watching how you loved his son when his own mother clearly didn’t was truly a sight to see. Monique, WHEW that so called man you married was filth. How you gonna wanna be with me and somebody else too. Yet you trying to manipulate me and you let your parents talk to me any kinda way. Then when I decide enough is enough, everybody loses the mind. Boyyyyyyyyy FU!!!!! I loved Debonair for you and the way he loved you back whole. Baby that man wasn’t playing with anyone about you. ENERGY!!!!!!! Krissy, you low down manipulative, lying, overworked p*ssy, greedy little hoe, finally got exactly what you deserved and it warmed my heart cause you were the worse cum bucket ever. India you was just as bad as Krissy just in another light and demeanor cause ain’t no damn way I could have allowed what went down to be okay. You should have off’d yo damn self. Malcolm grow a fawkin pair cause when I say you were weak and a coward. Carry tf on!!!!!!! All I can tell y’all is there is light at the end of the tunnel and Porschea did her big one with this one and there is a HEA. Amen💜

Please tell me a part two is coming! That ending was epic! I can’t wait until Krissy and India get what’s coming to them! Krissy knows she is wrong going after Princess’s man and they were best friends since grade school! India is upset because Kordail doesn’t want her anymore that she would have his enemy shoot up his grandmother’s house thinking he was there! Messy as all get up!
