This book help me understand basic theory of forensic psychology. I think this book more likely literature review which the author fasten the reference. The reference is outdate, not the recent study. What I like from this book, the author give explanation and illustration in real case so it's easy to understand. The author also gives perspective from different perception such as perspective from researcher, psychologist, public, law, how media affects the criminal justice procedure, goverment policy and the offender itself. For anyone who have suicidal thoughts I suggest you to not read this book because this book elaborate offenders more likely to suicide and how they do everything to commit suicide.
This book also explain legal system in several country such as US, UK, Sweden. You also learn cognitive psychology, humanistic theory, and utility theory. So I can conclude forensic psychology is quite complicated. It's help me to recall psychology theories during college.
Although it was a basic book and had some good information, the author should have chosen someone else to read it or placed more punctuation in his approach to the audiobook. It was somewhat confusing, irritating, and sometime ‘off-putting’ as the author was the narrator and barely stopped after a sentence before starting the next one. The author would just carry on reading without pausing and emphasizing punctuation throughout. Also, the author liked to tell the listener to look at other books he’d written about other strains of psychology, which a lot of the time were not needed. Listening to this audiobook is not going to get me to listen to any other audiobooks the author has. It’s a shame because he had some good information in this book.
I wanted to give this book 2 stars but I am morally unable. This is the worst book I have ever read on this topic. It read like footnotes without any flow in reading. As the title suggests this is a short introduction of forensic psychology but it was unbearable. The writer just jumps from one topic to another without writing anything substantial. This book also contains lots of spelling and grammatical mistakes. You can avoid this one.
