Draco/Hermione After a dark curse, the wizarding world is left barren. Facing extinction, the Purebloods subjugate the muggles, searching for the rare muggleborns—the only witches able to reproduce.
Raised in the Nott household as a pampered pet, Hermione is forced to enter the Trials as she comes of age—a competition created for pureblood wizards to claim a breeder. Determined to win her, Draco Malfoy only knew two things: she belonged to him, and he’d destroy anyone who tried to take her.
But the cries of the enslaved muggles pierce through Hermione's comfortable life, causing her to reexamine everything she thought she knew about her world and the people in it. She soon discovers that the ancient call of magic and vengeance cannot be denied.
Plot inspired by the Prince of Egypt, with themes from the Handmaid's Tale.
I am obsessed with this fic. It's on-going but the updates are fairly regular. It's set in a dystopian HP world with very strong Handmaid's Tale vibes.
I love how dark and twisted this fic is even though we've barely started the mc romance yet. The story telling and character development is amazing. I've read some of this writers previous work however it's never resonated with me as much as this story does.
Essentially the plot revolves around a love triangle between Hermione, Draco and oc male character (Titus). Usually I'm team Draco all the way. But since the writer did such a PHENOMENAL job with Titus, I have to go with him even though she made it pretty clear that end game is definitely Dramione. Titus is literally asshole perfection. He is so deranged and manipulative- I have to choose him over Draco ( atleast at this point in the story).
I can't wait to see where the plot goes next. It's very rare that I come across something so unpredictable and original that I am genuinely surprised with every new chapter. 100% recommend this to fans of Dramione or even dark romance in general.
I finally caved and started reading this (I wanted to wait until at least 150k words were out, but there's currently 90k). Very good so far and it will be interesting to see where this goes. The title and description made this look like a smutty/crap fic, but it's actually got a good plot and interesting characters. The OC Titus Nott (Theo's older brother) makes this fic, even though the author said Draco/Hermione is endgame, my dark little heart wants Titus/Hermione to be endgame.
Again 90k words out and the author updates weekly for the most part. She mentioned this will be a long fic, around 250k plus words. So this story has a long ways to go before it's finished. The story is available on A03 and Fanfiction.Net (update for both platform's is the same). I will be trying more from this author for sure.
I will also write a longer review once it is finished.
Side-note: 90k words pretty much took me 5 hours to read (so about 300-350 pages are out right now).
i liked this but i'm ngl i wish it were darker. titus had so much potential to be a bigger creep when hermoine was under his care 😭 i really thought he'd go full villain after the trials but still no dice. even so, i really liked draco and hermoine's characterizations
What do you read after Manacled has left you an empty shell of the person you once were?
Answer : House Pet by @ninabinaballerina7 Screaming crying throwing up . House Pet on Ao3 is a fic that is part Prince of Egypt, part Handmaids Tale, part Harry Potter alternative universe. It takes place in a world where Voldemort is dead , but Dumbledore left a curse on all of wizarding kind. Former death eaters and Aurors alike work together to save wizarding by any means necessary.
This fic is a Dramione, but I honestly love Nina’s orginal character Titus Nott ever better. He’s twisted and toxic, but with wholesome intent.
I also love how believable cannon the characters portrayed act! This fic is well written and well edited!
If you like Dramione, go read it in Ao3! It’s a WIP, but there are 1,400 pages to occupy you until the next chapter comes out !
manacled vibes. it's dark and long and there's obsession, gore, sensitive topics, plot. I've honestly left super long comments of my opinions on the fic, I'll come back and make a better review once the author finishes the story. the writing is addictive, I spent 10 hours straight without being able to stop reading. my god, I have a serious issue ahhaha
Trigger Warnings: Dubious consent, explicit sex scenes, forced pregnancy, racism, slavery, grooming, manipulation, explicit violence, torture, death of minor characters.
I just want to start by saying that I did really enjoy this story for the most part. The writing style is enjoyable and significantly better than most fanfiction, the storyline is interesting, and the author did a phenomenal job creating an original character (Titus Nott) that is both loveable and polarizing, kind yet cruel, and ultimately tragic. Sadly, when the same character failed to live up to my hopes for him I lost interest.
I think there was a lot of potential for the Titus character to go in either direction, and my heart yearned for him to grow as a person and eventually see Hermione as his equal. Unfortunately, that hope died when he had what felt like a sudden personality shift. Granted, the author did a good job at showing us his overprotective side and the control he exerted over Hermione, but it was always presented as him trying to keep them both safe by following the laws revolving around Muggleborns. From day one, he always broke these same laws as much as he believed he could in trying to fulfill Hermione's wishes. Then, suddenly, he completely abandoned these sentiments in order to satiate his own lust? It didn't feel congruent with my perception of Titus, and after that moment he seemed to care very little about her feelings after a decade of trying to make her happy despite the circumstances. It left me feeling kind of frustrated and broken hearted.
I went into this story knowing it would ultimately end up a Dramione HEA, but we've spent such little time exploring the Draco character that he feels like a side character to me. I'm just not interested in this mysterious Draco of few words and actions. Most of their scenes together have revolved around Hermione rejecting him or lust.
The thing that finally caused me to walk away from this story for now is the big climax of the Trials. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the story, but I want to point out that Hermione's accomplishments are manufactured by another. I really wanted to see her take back her power and be the incredible witch we all know Hermione Granger to be. Unfortunately, that is just not what happens. We're told many times about how she's the most powerful witch currently known, but she fails to do anything on her own in the most important event of her life. She's given unfair advantages, and still ends up needing to be rescued and quite literally shoved into success. I found it disappointing, and OOC. All the characters in this are very OOC.

Writing is great and the expansion of the original storyline is creative, but a little darker and rougher than I care for in the frequent intimate scenes. I also thought that it was so long that it had time to delve into multiple plot points, but that by the end, several felt dropped or not fleshed out enough. It may have benefitted from sticking with one or two plot lines. The Dramione and Nott lines and breaking all the curses could have been enough. Obviously the background of the Order and what was really happening was a necessary device to get her to want to get out, but I didn’t think accomplishing that goal was realized enough. The entire thing was a bit of a let down to end on what felt like a cliff hanger. After such a long read, I expected more of a HEA/epilogue to get closure on where Dramione were at, Draco’s status after all that darkness, and WTF with the final reveal and what’s up with the mist!? All of that to say, I’m not aware enough about the author’s intent. If the intent is to continue to the storyline the I suppose it was good - there’s a lot more to go on with the continued angry Nott chase, the impending curse, and what’s next for all of the characters, but if not, then it was a pretty rough way to end. Overall, a four because despite the length, it was a page turner once it really got going about half way through, and I thought the writing was good.

There are a few fics I've read that in their own right are absolutely exceptional novels that, had they been released without the HP background, would undoubtedly be best sellers- Manacled, Love in a Time of the Zombie Apocalypse, The Auction, Dragons Bride, Perfectly In Pieces to name a few. This is one of them. This story? Holy Mary and her band of orphans, this thing is DELICIOUS. I was absolutely hooked from the first few pages alone. Brilliantly written, flows perfectly, amazing character development, absolutely gripping storyline and the introduction of a villain you love and hate all at once. The complexities are just *chefs kiss*. We are so spoiled to be able to enjoy this for free. The rest of the world is missing out.
if muggleborns are so rare, why let them compete in trials…not British… “sprite” pet name is bad bad… too many easy ways to stay in hp universe missed “poison”??? 40% in and only getting whinging, whining, helpless Hermione. Having a hard time connecting with the plot since the only characters Hermione has interacted with our Draco and Titus. Theo, Harry Ron Neville Luna pansy they’re all missing from this story and it lacks a certain depth or draw. I love a big cast of characters that support the main plot - think MOAM - and unless the plot is fantastic and can stand on its own - think DATMOOBIL - the story is lackluster DNF
I've finished up to where the author is at and this read is SO SO SO GOOD!!! It was a breath of fresh air into the fandom. A story from a perspective I hadn't thought of before, nor seen. So excited for the rest of it! Also, the title completely throws you off from what the story is. Don't judge it by the title.
Chefs kiss. If you want an authentic and brilliant new version of the same 2 idiots falling for each other in a different universe, do yourself a favour and read this!! This book makes me giggle and blush in one chapter, then the next I am shocked and losing sleep because I just can’t put the book down, it’s too good. One of the best world building and interesting fics I have ever read. Nina deserves all the love and more for this masterpiece!
