Chosen Mate

ALL IS FAIR IN LOVE AND REJECTION

My fated mate rejected me years ago, but now he wants me back.

The problem?

I'm in love with someone else.

My best friend, who has less-than-no interest in me.

Dante, my rejected mate, sees this as the perfect opportunity to sweep in and bite me, taking back his rejection as if that's going to make me forget about the years he left me without a home, mate, or pack.

My magical rejection gift goes on the fritz when I refuse him, which leads my crazed, shadow-driven wolf to the one place my best friend swore never to return to:

His pack.

Or rather, what remains of it.

But there's more to what happened there than he ever realized.

The life I carved out for myself is falling to pieces, and I'll do whatever it takes to catch them.

Even if it involves Dante.

Mate Tracker

KISS AND… RUN LIKE HELL

That's the motto I was supposed to be living my life by.

Supposed to, being the key phrase there.

Because my friend-with-benefits is in love with me.

And I think I'm in love with him too.

Luckily my other friend decides to screw all of us over when she accidentally drags me into a fight with a crazy magical pack, giving me the perfect chance to escape Dominic, said friend-with-benefits.

But he's even better at tracking people than I am, and the wolf I share my body with?

She's on his team.

I can't ignore my past anymore… or it's going to destroy my future.

Spirit Wolf

BETWEEN A ROCK AND A… STRONG MAN

The wolf I share my body with was born able to separate herself from me and wander around in a spirit form, but now that we managed to get ourselves permanently separated, she's trapped as spirit and I'm dying.

I looked for a magical fix-all that could bring us back together, but so far, the only answer I've found is the one thing I can never accept:

Taking a mate.

My friends are interviewing guys, trying to find the best candidate for something I swore I'd never do.

The only man I somewhat trust has started trying to convince me why he's the best candidate.

And my wolf is just as on board with me taking a mate as the rest of them.

I want to survive more than almost anything, but that almost includes my only option.

I've got three months to decide whether or not to take a mate… or my body will become spirit, like my wolf's.

Wicked Pack

FIGHTING FIRE WITH… FANGS

When I was rejected two years ago, my pack began hunting for me.

Better dead than rejected, they said.

The Outcast Pack gave me a home and kept me hidden from them, and I got comfortable.

Too comfortable.

My pack's hunters have closed in on me. Now the only way I can survive is by taking a mate, and then watching said mate pass my pack's challenges. That's their way of proving to them that he belongs in the pack, and that I'm more than the worthless rejected female they see me as.

My friend Bash volunteers to be my mate, in name and deed only… but our feelings for each other are bigger than either of us will admit.

just wow 😮

I have loved the outcast books, each and everyone of them. I haven’t been able to put them down. The way Lola took these broken, fragile and vulnerable people and made them into the heroes of their own stories was amazing and done with so much care and humility. She showed so much compassion for them without dimensioning what they have been through. Seeing the trauma behind the behavior and enabling them to come to their own conclusions, their own truths and allowing them to deal with their emotions and vulnerability’s in an authentic way. The best series of books I have read in a long time. I honestly thought when I started reading they were going to be no brainers and an easy read, how wrong was I. Thank you Lola ❤️

Chosen Mate How stupid am I? I’ve been confusing Shadow with Cara and wondering how Shadow’s ex-fated mate is showing up since I remember him being killed. Well, dummy, it was Cara’s fated mate so I read my reviews and jogged my memory enough to get back on track. I hadn’t mentioned Ryker’s name anywhere so unsure when he and Shadow met. Maybe he was the feral that Cara, Shadow and Taylor set off to find, leaving Knox with his former pack. (No, upon further reflection I think that was Lex) (That’s wrong also. Now I suspect it's Alaska due to Taylor's run-in with Brody's mother)

Question: Supposedly Shadow needs to forgive Dante and accept his un-rejection* to keep her shadows from completely taking over when she needs to locate a rejected wolf. Why can’t she just reject him to completely break the mate bond? It’s obvious the majority of rejected mates are males. Dante seems to be hanging around the refuge anyway so might as well qualify as a bonafide member.

*So, let’s pretend she accepts Dante's un-rejection. Now that he no longer rejects her, doesn’t that mean she can/should accept him as her mate? (I’m so damned confused) Or is she finally free to reject him? How are all these other couples getting together without the supposed required un-rejection closure?** Her acceptance seems like a negative to me because she loses her rejection gift of locating wolves that need the refuge’s help.

**I’ve thought on this so hard. I think the answer is that none of the other wolves have had their exes appear wanting to rescind the rejection. Would Dante’s have affected her had he not bitten her?

Chapter 37 - Where’s the Argentinian wolf?*** Everyone else is accounted for in heading back but no mention of him. They didn’t come all that way just to abandon him, did they?

***“So this is our rabid wolf?” Cara asked, squatting down beside the wolf in the corner “Hmm...”
“He doesn’t seem rabid, I know. I’m starting to think maybe he just doesn’t have a pack and doesn’t speak English,” I spoke into Ryker’s neck again.
This conjecture makes absolutely no sense. Why would Shadow have been drawn all the way to South America if the wolf hadn’t been rabid?

I don’t understand why the witch’s barrier dropped once the two covens started communicating. Also, Lina is a cunt (with a capital C!) and deserves to die instead of finding a mate. I can’t believe how unwilling she was to allow Dante and Shadow to mark each other to break their bond. Who the fuck does she think she is, especially after the shit she pulled with Ryker? Not only that but rubbing Shadow’s face in the fact that he must have been a willing participant.

Annnnnd once again contraception fails. So, so, so sick of this.

Mate Tracker Taylor and Dominic have a “friends with benefits” relationship. She is determined to never mate because she can’t have children due to inescapable health issues.* Her inability to breed is why her fated mate rejected her. Her parents did nothing to alleviate her depression but actually contributed to it.

*Supposedly all of the females are aware of why she can’t have children. I doubt that they would frown upon her “no strings attached" relationship with Dom as is indicated. It’s not like there aren’t enough other males to go around.

Dom and Taylor have been hooking up for a year and a half when he finally confesses that he and his wolf want her as a mate. She attempts to break up their relationship by picking up a man at a bar. It doesn’t go well. She makes a second attempt with a different male which also fails. Her wolf is so distraught at not being with Dominic that she turns rabid, meaning Taylor has no ability to shift back to being a human. She goes on the run and ends up at her parents' home.

Dom tracks her down and manages to get her wolf to give up control. Taylor eventually acknowledges her feelings for him and they return to the refuge where her insecurities surface again. She finally realizes that Dom loves and accepts her despite not being able to have children.

Time will tell if this stays true for them as people do change. I’m aware of a situation where it did become a deal breaker for a couple after over ten years of marriage. As the author notes in her “Afterthoughts," this can be a cruel, hateful world. Glad this couple made it.

Spirit Wolf What are the chances that Lex would go to see her grandmother and coincidently receive the news that she had three months to live if she didn’t find a mate? It seems that she didn’t visit her very regularly so would she have just died without knowing the reason why? Then Lex loses track of time and has to go back to find out how many days she has left? I doubt that she would forget that important fact despite all that happened to her.

Sweet story of how a patient beyond belief Parker manages to assuage Lex’s fear of men to the point that they eventually are mated.

Wicked Pack So Brody, Knox’s brother, comes to the refuge to claim Alaska, his rejected fated mate. Referencing one of the earlier books Brody was supposed to become the alpha when his and Knox’s father had died. Although senior to Brody, Knox had been rejected by his fated mate and had left the pack. Their mother tried to trick Knox into returning but it didn’t work. From what I know from reading werewolf fiction, Brody should have been challenged and most likely killed for the alpha position, especially considering how vicious this pack is. That holds true if he had stepped down. There’s no way that pack would allow such a weak male to continue living in their midst.

I also don’t recall any mention of that pack being as backwards as this one is. There’s mention of males from other packs joining Andola. Wouldn’t they have shed a little light on what’s happening in the rest of the world? Males are allowed to travel so I can’t believe they would all be satisfied returning to live in the dark ages.

Although I liked the story my credulity was stretched. Did the Andola pack really hunt down every female who ever ran away? They wasted years searching for Alaska and probably still wouldn’t know where she was if Taylor hadn’t spilled the beans. What makes their hunters really so much stronger than other werewolves according to Alaska? Why? The alpha insists Bash participate in trials so he can become a member of the pack, even though he’d never indicated a desire to do so. I don’t recall what happened to the male who rejected Alaska. Was it ever addressed?

Alaska observes in Chapter 11, “We’ve got hundreds of wolves--they have thousands.” Sounds like rehoming all of those wolves would have taken a long, long time.

Then after all they’ve endured Alaska and Bash act like a pair of lovelorn teens instead of just confronting what was keeping them apart. All in all, not one of the better stories.

Lola Glass is the best

The real love she writes about is the best. I love all her books and can’t stop reading until I’m finished or it’s 3am! The outcast pack is the best of people just doing their best with what life has given them. There have been many times throughout all these books when something written has just connected with me. “You don’t have to qualify for love” is one of them. I grew up goal oriented and have always thought there was a finish line I’d get to that would let me know when I qualified. And didn’t even consciously think that, it was just part of my upbringing and something I’d absorbed without being aware of.

Only half read.

I read B1 (my fav of the 4) and B4, good.
I started B2, but quickly got frustrated and angry with the FMC’s female bestie, who behaved abominably, and it was clear would be easily forgiven.
On top of that, the FMC’s wolf was beyond aggravating.
I’ve read one of this authors other books that was like this, and I utterly loathed it!
So had no intention of continuing that story, or the next, as it featured the bestie as the love interest.

Loved it

Really exceptional series. I love all the members of the Outcast pack and how they all work and live and love together. Yes each story could stand by itself, but reading them one after the other it brought a sense of community to the book. I liked all the characters but my favorite was Lex. Each of the female characters was a strong survivor and picked strong males to support them and love them. Highly recommended.

This whole series is an addiction

I have absolutely loved this series and how she has approached every character.
She has been very respectful in every way that she has covered different traumas.
I love that she doesn't use trauma as a shock factor but goes over it with respect to what each character goes through!

Easy to read sweet romance

I really enjoyed this collection. I’m not usually into the sweet romances, but these stories were just the right amount of angst and action to go along with the sweetness that I found them very entertaining.

Glass strikes again

I am not very good at writing reviews. I guess I am kind of shy but I have to simply state that this boxed set was fantastic. I loved everyone’s stories. Read the whole boxed set in one go without going to bed because I couldn’t put it down.

All the books are friends to lovers and it just works so smoothly. All the couples are great friends so you get attached to all to them. I was hoping to learn more about Taylor Irish triplets but I guess I'll have to wait.
