I loved this book! It was exciting right from the start and completely captivated me. I loved the characters. Hera was a secret experiment who looks mostly human, but also has orc blood. She drops off a cliff to escape being tortured and killed by a dozen orcs and only survives because Xenon saw her in the waterfall and rescues her. She regains consciousness but with no memory of who or where she is. Xenon is the head of chieftain Loki's secret guard. But now that Loki is mated and starting a family, he feels a bit lost. He rescues a female from the water and brings her to his home to recover. Even when she is mostly healed, she wants to remain with him, with nowhere else to go and her memories still haven't returned. He is uncomfortable suddenly having to live with someone when he is used to his privacy- both for himself and for his position. I really loved these characters. The suspense of it had me devouring the pages. I also loved watching them grow closer and more comfortable with each other and becoming important parts of each others' lives. Great world building. Another wonderful book in this series. 5 stars.

This book was amazing and how all the secrets came out in the end just made this a must read book Hera is a half human and half Orc a freak to many but a experiment success to others. Now she is running for her life from a group of Orc’s that want to killer and her and her only escape now is to jump off the cliff but will she survive who cares because she will be dead if they catch her and as luck she would have it she lands in water and when she comes to a sexy Orc is caring for her but she has no memory of who she is. Xenon is one of the secret guards that protect Chieftain Loki and would give his life to fulfill his duty but he always wanted more after his boss Loki met his mate and now he has the chance with the human he saved but she has no memory of who she is so how can he be with her but then she starts to remember some of who she is and that she was born as an experiment / half breed. Does Hera get all her memories back and can Hera and Xenon have a future together when all there secrets are revealed. Great book.

Another great addition to the world of Protheka and all of the inhabitants, Orcs, Dark Elves, Naga, Minotaurs, Demons, and humans. The connection between humans and the orcs of the Burning Sun Clan has grown. Hera is running from some other orcs trying to kill her, when she jumps off a cliff to escape them. Xenon, Chieftain Loki's secret guard, is bathing in a pool when something lands nearby, a human women. He saves her from drowning, but when Hera wakes up, she has no memory. Even though he has a very important job within the clan, most know him as a peddler and he feels unworthy of a mate. But they have a connection that is real and intense. The book is well written, compelling, full of sizzle and steam, some action, drama , and more. Hands down this is one of my favorite series and with all the different creatures, it is always a page turning read. Best of all, Kindle Unlimited has them all, so read them for free. 5 hundred stars.

decent

i took away one star because this book suffers the same fate as many of it's kind in sci fi romance-- while the heroine is a WOC (she is decribed as brown and copper skinned) she is literally not fully human. i have noticed a lot of WOC heroines in series usually have had the worst experiences out of all the women,and that is true here. pro is that she is BAD.ARSE but the not being fully human seems like an insult. and yet she turned bright red NUMEROUS times within the book,so one might even forget her copper color. she isn't even described well. i know she is over six feet tall,fit,with brown eyes. i loved xenon since he was introduced properly in the previous book,but again,the writing setup for the character is inconsistent. he takes on 20 orcs single handedly,yet gets taken out by a headbutt?!?! and it still seems like the whole conspiracy is unsolved. overall,a decent read with a likeable,kick arse couple.

Oh, I was looking forward to the Xenon story!
I always liked the stories of those who live in the shadow of the main characters. And Xenon is exactly that. He's not just a minor character in Loki's story he's -literally- his shadow. Such a good soldier and such a guard, such a faithful friend.
I love that he has found a woman to measure up to him. Hera is a survivor and a hero who flies with her own wings.
Xenon went from being upset with that kind of "awful sort of personal responsibility" to celebrating like a child the strength of this impressive woman.
We find many fights in this story and the incredible and overprotective love of a brother.
The passion of a man who had given up love and family and the strength of a woman who only knew pain.

Xenon and Hera’s lives have been dedicated to combat. He was raised to serve the Chief as bodyguard and head spy. She only survived her childhood in the training camp by killing whenever she had to. Neither are easily able to trust, yet both have a deep longing for connection and family. In each other they have finally found somebody who understands them. This understanding becomes friendship, which becomes love, which becomes passion. However, Xenon never explains Hera that he’s not actually a traveling trader. She doesn’t know his role for the Chief. The book also never tells if Hera gets all of her adult memories back. So you have a relationship between two half-people, each with a past of the other doesn’t know about.

Also, this book really needs a proofreader. There are a lot of missing words, or incorrect words, that make reading the book a bit painful.

Loved this fifth story about Xenon of the Burning Sun Clan and Hera an experimental hybrid and Inzo's sister. I loved how they interacted, and I loved reading their romantic story as it unfolds as I flipped the pages. I also like reading how the events of Burning Sun Clan is involving and the area around. Xenon who is Chieftain Loki's secret guard has always felt unworthy and while taking a bath in the river rescues a woman from drowning. Hera is escaping from the Sword Hammer base run by Baar who is killing all their experimental subjects. Trapped by Orcs, she runs off a cliff into the river. Saved by Xenon, Hera discovers she has no memory of who she is. What occurs is an engaging story that I enjoyed reading and I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

Hera (h) is being pursued and fall into Xenon's (H) life. After saving Hera's life, Kenon finds himself responsible for her when her injuries cause Hera to forget who and what she is. AS she works to regain her memories, Hera will have to balance her feeling for Xenon with her past. Until Hera, Xenon never though that his secret role in the tribe would let him have a family and now he finds himself wanting that future with her. Lovely romantic story for Hera and Xenon with a little bit of sexy heat. The series is best read in order, as there are recurring characters and events that build on earlier happenings.

Yes Xernon

I'm just so excited about this series! Xernon (hopefully spelling it right) was always the one that intrigued me the most. He is Loki's secret bodyguard, head of the Shades (a secret army bound by oath to protect their Cheftain and be spys). Taught that he would always be alone, finds love! It was a nice twist, giving Xernon a half human half Orc female mate.

I look forward to see if the author is going to continue this series. I am sure we have other Orc in the clan who need mates, and more problems that need solving and more lives needing to be saved.

Lush short story! Felt a little rushed in places, (but it is only a short book, I read it in about 80 minutes) - but the plotline was great, characters were likeable and all in all just a cute, heartwarming story. Excited to see what comes next by Celeste King.

This is another great addition to the series and, like the previous books, continues to have fab world building and fascinating characters. This one had many elements to make it a page turner: adventure, amnesia, mystery and steamy romance. These two were fun to watch as their relationship developed and I enjoyed seeing them reach their HEA. Good fun!

One lost his purpose. The other has lost her memory. There are secrets to be found and solutions to help heal and create new beginnings? Whew ! That is enough to have a spicy grilled cheese and coffee as you read and as your mouth hangs open cool that tingles from the meal. Good read.

The mystery about the cloaked woman from Inzo is finally solved. Hera is a mystery that Xenon wants to solve and protect at the same time. It was a good read.

Loved It

Love how each book flows into the next one. The book has enough action, drama, mystery, love, and steamy sexy scenes that sizzles but not over the top with awesome characters. Love the series and definitely a must buy.

Hera and Xenon

This is another great, well written, Alien/Human romance . The characters are well developed and interesting. They can be found in other stories in this series but each story could be read alone. Many loose ends are tied up. Read and enjoy.
