This was so beautiful. I wish I had it to read a year ago when my son was diagnosed.

Such a beautiful and touching book. I truly wish I was given this book to read when my oldest son, Patrick was diagnosed with autism a year ago. Empowering, informative, welcoming and extremely heartfelt, I couldn’t help but tear up. I would recommend this book to anyone where autism has come into their lives but especially to the parents of autistic children.

Many parents of kids with autism feel isolated, misunderstood and unsupported. I know this from experience and have felt this way, along with my wife, when we first heard of Patrick’s diagnosis. This book is the prime example that we are not alone and that there is a supportive, giving community out there; one that can provide the care, information and advice needed whenever possible.

The only really small disappointment I had was that I wish there were more stories from fathers (there were only three). Being a stay-at-home dad myself, I feel I could relate a little better with the father figure perspective.

It’s important to remember that autism is not a disease. Don’t try and cure it. Instead, let’s try to understand it through love, kindness and patience.

To quote a passage from the book: “Autism taught us to control what we must, plan for what we can, and learn to embrace the unexpected.”

As a parent that is in the beginning stages of navigating autism and it’s many twists and turns, this book helped me feel not so isolated and make connections with other parents and their similar experiences. These stories provide an honest and raw look at what it means to love someone who is autistic. Thank you Letia for turning me on to this book and for sharing your own story. I do plan to make myself a student and let my boys teach me. ❤️

This book consists of many points of view about autism and the challenges it brings. It was really uplifting and sweet, while also being honest about how difficult autism can be. Great read.

This was an amazing book that shared authentic and raw experiences of families living with autism. It shares the perspective of autistics who are very independent as well as the perspective of parents and siblings of autistics who are highly impacted and need a lot to complete support. There are authors who celebrate autism and others who are frustrated and angered by it. Anyone who is looking to gain a better understanding of autism should read this book.
