Very poorly explained. The chapter of Foundations of Linguistics is especially bad, I get the feeling the author knows little about linguistics and is just fudging her way through.

Most of the explanations are insufficient or contradictory. I very often have to turn to AI to explain what she might have meant. The best part about the book is that it provides the concepts you'll need to know for when you do the test. You'll unfortunately have to research them on your own though when the book makes no sense.

In some places it is outright wrong, to name just one example she presents "He would have been walking", which is the Conditional Perfect Tense as the Future Perfect Tense. It's very easy to see how this could misinform teachers who will then go on to misinform their students.

Avoid this book if you can.

This was the most helpful book I used in prepping for my ESL practice. The format is clear, and the pre-test/post-test system suggested is excellent.
