And is Glizzy the knight in shining armor she's waited on for years? Find out in the first installment of Captivated by a Brooklyn Boss.
Jade Jones discovered her passion for creative writing in elementary school. Born in 1989, she began writing short stories and poetry as an outlet. Later on, as a teen, she led a troubled life which later resulted in her becoming a ward of the court. Jade fell in love with the art and used storytelling as a means of venting during her tumultuous times.
Aging out of the system two years later, she was thrust into the dismal world of homelessness. Desperate, and with limited income, Jade began dancing full time at the tender age of eighteen. It wasn't until Fall of 2008 when she finally caught her break after being accepted into Cleveland State University. There, Jade lived on campus and majored in Film and Television. Now, six years later, she flourishes from her childhood dream of becoming a bestselling author. Since then she has written the best-selling "Cameron" series.
Quite suitably, she uses her life's experiences to create captivating characters and story lines. Jade currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. With no children, she spends her leisure shopping and traveling. She says that seeing new faces, meeting new people, and experiencing diverse cultures fuels her creativity. The stories are generated in her heart, the craft is practiced in her mind, and she expresses her passion through ink.
Disjointed is the best way for me to describe it. I think the characters had potential as did the storyline. However, the characters lacked the chemistry needed to make their relationships/associations work. I like this author. This one was just not for me.
The story was not for me. The name calling and below the line attitudes was too, too much. I could not find a good point in this very sad tale. I need uplifting, not downgrading in a story, and this one was not for me. But make your decision whether it's your cup of tea. 2.75 stars.
This book started off in a good direction, and somewhere along the lines it stop making sense with no real direction or storyline. No character development, no real chemistry between characters and the Glizzy character was sooo fcking left field and he had no POV so even though he said what he was tryna do he had no real purpose to me. This book kept contradicting itself to the point it was giving very much cringy…
Not sure which direction to go with this one... It was a pretty good read I just feel like I am a little disconnected from the storyline... I will check put part 2 to see if it will all come together for me... Junie is a really good woman... She is smart and makes her own money... But she has a thing for the wrong men... She married to a no good man named Finesse... She caught him with another woman and apparently he has done this many times before... But it looks like this time might just be the last time... Maybe now Junie will see her worth and really stand her ground with Finesse... Siren is Junie's best friend... But who really needs a friend like her... She is super shady, will throw anyone under the bus for her own benefit... She will do absolutely ANYTHING for money... and is loyal to no one... It looks like all of this is what has her in her current situation... Now Staxx I really like... I am just getting a glimpse of him but so far what I know of him I do like... I love the way he steps in and claims what he wants... He is that man and knows how to run things... He owns a bunch of real estate and business and is also running for Mayor... But it is all a front for what else his family does... The only problem is that he is single... He is just trying to find the right woman for him.... But one night in his club, it looks like that woman has finally presented herself... Staxx is moving very quickly to claim what he wants and that is Junie... The only problem is that she is still married to a man that claims that he still loves her and wants to be with her... Junie will really have to make a decision soon... Because it looks like she has two men that are willing to do anything to keep her... Will Siren be able to get out of this big whole that she just dug herself into... Which man will win the woman in the end... Will Staxx and his mom be able to see what is headed their way... Will Junie be pulled into all of this... Well onto part 2 to find out...
I’m not sure where to start with this book 😭. For the most part, I did enjoy it however, most of the time I did not like how some characters were talking; mainly Siren. I didn’t like that she would call Julie names behind her back, then call her her best friend. And then then the part where she said she don’t steal from her homegirls, but apparently fucking her husband is okay??? Yeah, I don’t see how Junie didn’t notice. Also Siren leaving Junie in the club. What kind of friend does that? Like after her altercation with the man she stole from, she could’ve went back inside to get her 😭 And then lying to her after. Also at the end her possibly putting Junies life in danger because of Glizzy.
Another thing I can’t get over is Staxx’s racist mother. Like reading that just put a bad taste in my mouth. I didn’t even want to finish reading. I’m also confused about his race. Unless i missed it, is he mixed or just fully Cuban??? I’m glad he said something about her racism but that was bare minimum and i wonder if he would have said something if Junie wasn’t black.
This book honestly had no rhyme or reason. I felt like it didn’t flow as smoothly as it should’ve. It was mildly entertaining so I will be reading the second book.

Title: Captivated by a Brooklyn Boss Author: Jade Jones Publisher: Jaded Publications Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Captivated by a Brooklyn Boss" by Jade Jones
My Assessment:
'Captivated by a Brooklyn Boss' was a read where one will be left wondering who to feel sorrier for...Siren or Junie? Both of these ladies didn't know what to believe regarding relationships and friendships. Unfortunately, Siren was out for herself, and as it's been said, karma can be complex when it comes back on you, as she played her best friend Junie, who seemed to be a scatterbrain regarding love and friendship too. Now that Siren has a weird man in her life, will she be able to pull through after her ordeal of what happened to her? Again, there is a lot of drama and betrayal as the story continues with the next read to see what's coming next for Junie, Siren, Finesse, Staxx, Glizzy, and a few other interesting characters.
Siren was playing a dangerous game from sleeping with her best friends husband, to messing with married men and fighting her co-workers at the strip club! But her worst mistake of all is marrying Glizzy! She is in over her head and death may be the only way out!
Junie is devastated when she catches her husband Finesse in bed with another woman. She throws him out and ceases all communication with him! She runs to her best friend who is nothing but trouble! Not only is she sleeping with her soon to be ex-husband, she leaves her drugged up in a night club after she steals a Rolex from the owners right hand man! Junie meets Staxx who promises to make her his wife! Little does he know their is a stanger coming to take out him and his mom! A must read! Can’t wait for part 2
Siren was a back stabbing harlot who only cared only about herself she betrayed her best friend.Junie. Sleeping with all these married men to get what she wanting and married a total stranger who was Gilzzy who was a hired killer. To add further Insult to the injury she throws Junie under the bus and put her life in danger. She trying to move on with her life with Staxx after the hurt and humiliation of found out he was cheat on her. Karma goes around again and sleeping with her best friend husband behind her back. Goes against girl code can't wait read Captived by a Brooklyn Boss.
It wasn't a bad story but somethings are just totally unbelievable, omg really? I just don't understand the deceit and back stabbing from friends mainly Siren and her so called friends aside from Junie the only real friend she has. I hope Siren gets exactly what's coming to her, initially I was all for siren but she turned out to be a thief, sleeping with her best friends husband, putting pills in her best friends drink, leaving her friend drunk and high in the club to save herself, I hope Staxx convince Junie she needs to cut all tied with Siren!
Honest to God, I couldn't stand a single character in this book. They each gave me a boil on my ass. Siren was beyond dumb, and if you look up disloyal in the dictionary, there would absolutely be a picture of her. Junie was ok. She stayed married to a bum, so she deserved to live a little with Staxxx. Staxxx seemed ok...a Lil aggressive, but nothing I haven't seen in urban books before. Finesse...first of all, what kind of man would want to be called Finesse? He was a dog from waaayyyy back. I hope he and Siren get what they deserve.
If I could give this book 10 stars I would, this book is amazing! It's sad how men think they can do what they want and get away with it. Finesse was a whole clown. I hate weak women in books. Ain’t no amount of love to make somebody accept that. With friends Like This Siren who needs enemies? Snake azz just got her karma and there's more karma for her. I hope Junie and Staxx get it together. Hurry with part 2!!!
I have been thinking about what to say or how good this story was or if it was good. The writer certainly knows how to get your attention and keep it. I think that the story as a whole moves at a pace that builds. The main characters so far have done a good job of keeping you entertained, now best friend is just shady. There is more to the story because it ends on a cliffhanger and you have stay to see how it unfolds.
This story is off, not fitting into the stereotypical mold in this genre. The storylines are unpredictable which is refreshing. However it does feel like the author split books 1 and 2 to make a financial profit rather than giving the reader one great book. In fairest it is clearly marketed as a novella. The twists are worth the investment of book 2. Gotta go to get into it.
I've read part 1 of this book and I need to read part 2. I need answeres to questions and I need to know more about how Staxx gon turn ol' girl out. Lol. But that so called wench of a "best friend" gon find herself drifting down a river somewhere because how dare she sleep her best friends husband for years might I add and then turn around and threw her up under the bus and ground to save her own butt. Man she better move around. Cause I'm not here for it.

This book was a hot mess of messy drama and how can Siren call herself a friend like really 🤦🏾♀️😡🤦🏾♀️. That ending I was like karma is something and Siren should have thought about her actions. I am rooting for Junior and Staxx because they are cute together, his mother is something else. That finesse just slow and he is going to go looking for something he has no business going after 🤦🏾♀️.
This book had potential to be good but the momentum was flatline. Junie is typical hard working woman with a trash drug dealer husband. Siren is Junie's only friend and mediocre stripper but will slept and so anything to get money. Staxxx ans Grizzly is introduced into the book but you really don't get a lot from them.. It will be a book 2.
Friends like Siren, who need enemies. Poor Junie seem to be the only sane one in the book. I hope she doesn’t take Finesse back. She deserves so much better. What’s the saying, “you don’t know what you had until it’s gone.” I can’t wait to see who survives in part 2.
Siren is scandalous and downright cut throat. I hope she gets hers in the end. Junie not only being betrayed by her useless husband but her so called best friend. I hope her and Staxx get all of them including Glizzy. Staxx and Junie will a force once they come together
First off Siren got huge splash of karma and it's what she get for what she's doing to her supposed to be best friend Junie now she doesn't know what Glizzy has in-store for het, Junie met Staxx and hopefully it goes good for them and she doesn't goes back to het ex husband Finesse!!
Both of yhose girls irked my nerves. Siten wad a hoe literaly and Junie had no self esteem.
This book should Nat have been split in two that just irked my nerve. I want to see what happens withe Junie and stacks tho, things are not gonna go down as Glizzy thinks I'm sure. Everybody is a mess but I hope part 2 is quick
This book was an Excellent Read. Not one boring page. It had the drama, excitement, backstabbing, Alpha Males and suspense. If you like reading about thugs this is the book you would love reading. Jade Jones you did an awesome job writing this book.
This could have been 1 book. Part one was not that interesting, but I kept reading and it was short. There was no need for a cliffhanger with this book. Part 2 was a repeat of part 1 for the most part. This story did not stand out to me. This is the second book I have read by this authoress. I am not impressed with her work at all.
Why did this story have me laughing. Siren s the dumbest hxx! Lol Some folks will do anything for money. At first I thought I may have read this book, butnah. I'd remember. My issue with it is the length. I got all comfy and ready to get into it and BAM! Its over. Lucky for me I already got part 2. I'm giving this 4 stars for the shortness.
Way ratchet, but it was well written and very entertaining! I read this while waiting for my some at the dentist. Now I’m like where is part 2!! Don’t do me like this! 😭 😭 😭
I honestly don’t know what this book is really about. There is no real storyline. There was no drama, nothing exciting about the book at all. I don’t know how it got published
This book was ok . It was your typical snake of a friend set you up to safe their own life. If that is what you call a friend he'll show don't need enemies.Staxx is a boss is mam is an ass I can't wait to see how this developed
This grimy a as chick needs to lose all oxygen so sad 😢 she did her friend dirty from the gate her life in fairy land should be Extinguished just like her so sad for my girl she deserves happiness I'm on the edge of my seat please continue soon
Siren is a piece of work!! She is the lowest of the low!! I hope Junie find out what she been doing behind her back and how does he remember her and she don’t remember him at all?
