Sara Bourgeois is a Midwesterner through and through. She spends her time writing, reading, herding cats, and standing in her driveway during tornado warnings. (You can't see them from the basement.)
This is an entertaining Paranormal cozy mystery series
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters with a slightly darker storyline. Kinsley Skeenbore was the head of the coven of witches in Coventry. Recently she was voted out and replaced by her mother. The skiboard witches have been in Coventry for generations and recently gave up some of their magic to bring back Mary Kinsley‘s familiar who is kind of trapped in a half life. Once again the witches of Coventry or any battle against unknown villains trying to do more damage to their supernatural community and the humans live among them. Reading and see what trouble is going on in Coventry this time.
I love this series and the characters in it!! Call me crazy, but they've become people that I'm invested in and that I care about. You truly have to read this series in order to get the full effect and I guarantee you'll fall in love too! Sara Bourgeois has this way that captures you within the first couple sentences and holds your attention throughout the book. They are ones that I can't hardly put down and that I'm always amazed that I'm almost finished so quickly. (Reading thru 200ish pages like they were 50!) I highly recommend any of her series but this was my 1st of hers so it will always be the most treasured! Go grab book 1 and catch up! You'll love them all!!!
Kinsley has an agent problem, a theft problem and a ghost from France problem. She reports the issue Thorn. A ghost can’t move on until the stolen artifact is destroyed. First find stolen artifact. Second discover who murdered the woman in France who is now haunting Coventry. (Why couldn’t the ghost find the artifact if they were tethered to it?) Third get rid of the agent. Well two out of three ain’t bad. Now they can solve murders across the ocean!?!?!?
ARC Review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. UncoverIng the body of Roland the historian and collector 's in the sarcophagus at Jade's art store, Andale Arts Center. Tilly investigates The death while also wanting to know why she is drawn to hide one of the pieces. Awesome story I love reading the crime stories as we follow along .
Loved this story. So many storylines. I was interested in Beatrix's story of her murder and the amulet. The hunt and continued problems with Agent Smith is keeping me reading into the early morning. I was sad that Kinsley lost the head of the coven but glad Brighton took over. Also happy to have Lilith back.
So many stories involved in this book! Killers, ghosts, a shapeshifter...all leading to another wonderful book and possible conclusion. This Story was exciting, heartpounding, and just intriguing. Hate it ended but positive what awaits is going to be extraordinary!
If you haven't read the previous books, STOP, go back and read them. This series contains ongoing story lines.
At the end of the last book, Lilith is back, the real one this time, she takes care of Nissa and brings Meri back. Brighton is reinstated as Coven Leader and when she retires it will pass to Laney skipping over Kinsley for her participation in bringing back Meri. Then a Paranormal Affairs Bureau (PAB) Agent shows up demanding Kinsley come with him.
As this book opens, Kinsley is arranging some antique artifacts in her shop Summoned Goods and Sundries. She feels something but nothing makes itself known. Then her mom calls to let her know the PAB agent is back and watching the house. There's really nothing to worry about since Agent Smith practically ran away when Thorn pulled out his badge.
Sierra a customer always with many questions comes in and peruses many of the items for sale, including crystals, candles and spell kits, then ending with Kinsley doing a Tarot reading for her. It was relief when she leaves the shop.
Meri spends the night in the shop and when the entity shows itself, he hides and goes to sleep. Kinsley teases him about it as she reviews the camera feed from the night. Reggie her best friend and manager interrupts to tell her about a sketchy customer she needs to see. It's after this customer leaves and she's reviewing the security tape that she sees the customer slip something into his pocket. She's just not sure what.
When she's finally able to start checking the inventory, the power goes out. After closing Craft Donuts and Summoned Goods and Sundries she's finally able to check the items where the customer was. Missing is an artifact she got from a European estate sale. A powerful and dangerous amulet.
As Reggie and Kinsley name the customers to be spoken with to Thorn, she gets a call from her mom. The girls have been questioned at school by Agent Smith without either her or Thorn present.
Needless to say the investigation gets put on hold as Kinsley goes to her girls. Remy finds a summer magic camp for them that starts the following morning and then gets locked down until it's done. After Thorn and Kinsley discuss it they agree it's a good way to keep them safe and away from Agent Smith. Unfortunately, they have to leave right after dinner. That will leave Kinsley and Meri free to find the amulet and also give her and Thorn some time alone together.
From learning of the ghost's past, checking magical signatures to attending dinner and a Magic show at the country club, this book had me turning the pages.
There are many twists and suspense as this tale unfolds. The clues leading to the most unlikely places.
