Bright: A Forbidden Love Story
Throughout history, supernatural creatures have lived discretely amongst humans, divided into seven factions. The factions consist of Vampires, Werewolves, Shapeshifters, Witches, The Phoenixes, Hybrids, and Manticores. Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble! 😳😯🤯
Wholy muffin tops! For the love of all that is chocolate & coffee! I mean... wow! This debut author and first novel was amazing! Think, the Underworld series movies, met with the Divergent book series and throw in the Thirst series by Pike and you've got this genuinely delish fantasy novel! I haven't read fantasy in years but this was so enjoyable, so fast paced, I wanted MORE. I couldn't get enough!

However, King Abel and Akira couldn't be more different. As she starts to uncover her memories, the fate of the kingdom and all factions will be far more dire than ever foreseen.
Be ready for everything in this - thrills, suspense, a tough of a love story and of course all the factions! McMillan concurs and stirs up a perfect combination of fantasy brew with this novel. The right ingredients in the perfect proportions. You NEED to read this fun & fantastical book! I lost myself for the two hours I devoured it and didn't want to come back. You'll love each character, you'll laugh, gasp but best of all, you need to know what happens next! I can't rave enough about this one, darlings!

Book titles are crucial for me. I'm always eager to know how authors come up with it and how it relates to the story itself, without giving away too much plot. Thus, it fascinates me to learn about "Bright". It served its purpose to the book and made it more meaningful.
I LOVE:

▫️How the settings, as well as the characters were vividly described.
▫️The mutual attraction between main characters.
▫️Friendship dynamics.
▫️The conflicts that drived the plot forward. Had my interest peaked.
▫️All characters advanced the action directly.
▫️Fast-paced story.
▫️Amazing magical powers.
▫️Wholesomeness.
I WISH:
▫️To see a solid foundation of an intimate relationship.
I'm fully on board for this series and I can't wait to see what comes out next for Akira and Troy.

I absolutely loved this read so much that I didn’t want it to end. Filled with great imagination, a descriptive narrative and the female MC is a smart sweet badass that I know will resonate with a lot of those that pick up this book.
Lovers of fantasy this is the book for you. I can’t wait for more in this series and more from this author. BRIGHT was a world I was happy to get lost in.

Wonderful Debut Novel
Bright is a combination of Underworld, Twilight, and Charmed with vampires, werewolves, witches, and more. I loved it, and if you, like me, adore those movies I mentioned, you will love it too!! ♥️💕
At the story's center is a forbidden romance between Akira, daughter of the vile Vampire King, and Troy, Prince of the Hybrid Kingdom. Akira is a lovely girl in a nasty family. Her father is pure evil, and her mother isn't much better. Although she's a princess and has every advantage, Akira feels for those made to suffer at the hands of her wicked father.
The supernatural world consists of seven factions, including vampires, werewolves, hybrids, witches, shapeshifters, manticores, and phoenixes. Each faction is a kingdom, but the vampire king controls them all.
Akira grew up believing hybrids are abominations—a vile mixture of vampires and werewolves inferior to pure Vampires. When her father sends her to the hybrid kingdom to select warriors to serve their kingdom, Akira meets and falls for Troy. Troy, too has feelings for Akira, and from there, the story takes off.
Troy and Akira must keep their relationship under wraps as their love is forbidden with a capital F. If Akira's father finds out she has been corrupting herself by associating with the enemy, the repercussions will be severe. As the story unfolds, secrets are uncovered, and Akira realizes her entire life is a lie. Now she must figure out what to do because the fate of the supernatural world rests on her shoulders!

I mean first of all can I just say that this was one of the most fast paced books I have ever read!! It was so intense and moved along so quickly which I loved! (As an impatient person I can appreciate this 😂) And also 👏SHORT CHAPTERS👏 It felt like I was reading so fast!
It's such a good debut novel, where divergent meets twilight. You've got loads of different factions: Vampires, Hybrids, Witches, Werewolves & Shapeshifters. I found all of this so interesting as I haven't really read a book like this before. The characters were portrayed amazingly & I could picture them easily because of the descriptions!
Akira is the daughter of King Abel. He rules over all of the factions and the pair are complete polar opposites. Abel is vile & evil whereas Akira is caring, empathetic and disagrees with her father. After a trip to the Hybrid kingdom, Akira not only falls in love with their prince but she comes to realise just how evil Abel is. As well as that, she also starts to regain wiped memories and the fate of the kingdom & the factions is worse than she could ever imagine.
If you're a fan of fantasy this book has everything, strong MCs, a love story, different factions, plot twists and of course it's intense!
I absolutely devoured this book & it has left me wanting more!!

✔ This book has it all. Vampires, Werewolves, Hybrids, Shapeshfters and Witches.
✔ I absolutely loved the character buildup of Akira and Troy.
✔ I liked how the author gave an introduction of the characters right at the start.
✔ I absolutely loved the suspense , the thrill, the friendship dynamics, the betrayal etc.
✔ I absolutely loved Cameron's character and the relationship he shares with Akira. His on spot one-liners were a hoot.
✔ My heart went out for Shelly.
✔ It's a page turner. The best 2 hours I had.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ I wish the transition into the war was better explained.
✔ Oh that end left me hanging, i wish the next part was in my kindle to gorge on.

What a fantastic debut!
Akira is the daughter of the vampire king who rules all the supernatural factions. He’s vile, cruel and has committed atrocities in order to rule. He despises the hybrids which are half werewolves and half vampires and wants to destroy them.
Under the guise of recruiting strong warriors from all the factions, the vampire king sends his daughter to the hybrid faction to retrieve these fighters. In an unexpected turn of events, Akira and the hybrid king’s son, Troy fall in love.
This creates a precarious balance between the factions as the brink of war is approaching and Akira flees the vampire kingdom. There are unexpected plots twists and we find out the truth about who Akira is and what her powers are!
I loved Akira and Troy together! You can tell they are meant to be and are soulmates. They are both protective, loving and strong. I also love the title of the book Bright. One of my fav parts of reading a book is when I realise how the title connects to the story so lookout for the references as to why it’s called Bright!
I also liked the action sequence during the battle and the losses were devastating but expected.
Really looking forward to reading the second book!

I finished reading Bright today. I will be upfront and say that this book took me completely out of my reading comfort zone and I’m glad that I took the leap and ventured out of my normal genres. The detailed description of all the characters was something that I admired. Also, I’m always up for a good dual POV story! The relationship between Akira and her father is something that is extremely relatable. I fully appreciate the short and clear chapters. I love the ending of the book and cannot wait to continue this story.

This was such a wonderful book for a first time Author, I really enjoyed reading this book. It gave me suspense , drama, love , and much more. I love vampires and I can tell the Author loves them as well.I absolutely fell in love with each of the characters and I look forward to the next book in this series.

I love a good vampire story so this was right up my alley! I love all different factions being a part of the story. I'm not a huge fantasy reader but the right kind of story pulls me in. The quick, short chapters kept me really reading too! I'm very excited to see where this story goes and what happens with Troy and Akira.

K.C. McMillian is the next new young author to keep our eyes peeled for. The story was beautifully developed; she takes her readers through a roller coaster of emotions as the story builds. I appreciated the different perspectives from characters and the way Kiana pulled in all of our sense with descriptions. I can not wait to see what happens in the sequel, she has all on the edge of our seats!

BRIGHT - A forbidden love story
The story revolves around Akira a kind hearted vampire and her love interest Troy - a hybrid of vampire and werewolf. Akira visits the hybrid faction which changes her life and leads her to dark secrets about her father and her past.
It was a pleasant read. I have always had the thing for fantasy- werewolf, vampires and most importantly witches. This book has everything but with a touch of modernisation. it was pretty exciting and i got lured into it from the very beginning. It got a hook of what's next. I loved the characterization of the leads. It was a short read.
What could have been better:
* I felt it was a little rushed, especially on the battlefield and expected more scenes to be the base for the love track.
At last I would recommend this for all fantasy freaks to give it a try. I completely enjoyed the read.
I'm eagerly waiting for the next book.

oh, it was such a cute book. great job author!!
I really liked the book, even though my genre is not fantasy fiction but this was such a great book. I adored Akira's character. she is strong and believes in what is right. she is not scared and also she feels so pure.
I also like how troy is so supportive and thoughtful of her and how their relationship blossoms.
the only thing I felt that was missing was more conversations, there were a lot of narratives so if there would have been more conversations between characters I would have liked that. if you are looking for a quick fantasy book filled with vampires and hybrids this is a great choice.

This short story had great premise and the characters were well described.
This story has enemies to lovers, forbidden love. Mystery and strong female characters.
I would read the sequel to see how they develop.
However, this book has the intestity of an listening to an audiobook on speed 2.0. I wanted to linger more in each scene. Feel the characters interact and develop the bonds between them.

One thing is for certain K.C. McMillian has a vibrant imagination and stories she needs to tell! Bright drops you right into a world of vampires, witches, and werewolf hybrids. The storyline drew me in and I loved the characters, but I did feel like it was rushed. I wanted to know and feel more for these characters she beautifully created. She is currently revamping Bright and rereleasing it this fall and I can’t wait to see what she added!

This debut novel was great. I loved the short chapters, the descriptions of the characters, and all of the details.
I loved how the title of the book relates to the main character and the cliffhanger ending. I really didn't see that coming.
I can't wait for the next book, and I look forward to seeing how this new author has grown.

adventurous and cute
