After five hundred years of hatred and resentment, and a few confusing years barely tolerating each others' presence, a mating bond snaps into place, surprising both a High Lord and a powerful warrior and spymaster. Both males struggle with their complicated histories, filled with abuse and pain, as well as their families' and courts' expectations and prejudices.
This story is a sequel to A Court of Family Secrets, an ACOSF AU in which Feyre branches out on her own when she discovers that Rhys and the Inner Circle hid her pregnancy complications from her. The effects of this decision reverberate outwards across Prythian, leading to many changes -- including the rise of Eris Vanserra as the new High Lord of Autumn, and Feyre taking sole control of the Hewn City. Now, the residents of the two courts struggle to adapt to the changes their rulers are making, leading to rebellions and plots that threaten to endanger not only Eris and Feyre, but their families.
Azris is cannon and if anyone else tries to tell me otherwise they can suck it.

Marking this as read twice since I read another fanfic that isn't on GR and I want to track it also it's the same pairing and similar length so no judgement thank you.
I have said multiple times that Sarah J Maas has written a fascinating world in the ACOTAR series but made a complete mess out of it. ACOMAF is everything moving forward is a mess. I dislike Feyre and Rhysand (and all of Inner Circle honestly).
But this fanfic is very aware of the flaws of the series and utilizes them and plays with them. Stuff like the mating bond, teenage girls being married to old-ass High Lords, and just Prythian landscape in general. It uses them to heighten the chemistry b/w the two main characters (which - if there is any pairing I can even mildly understand, it is AzRis).
It is so addictive that I finished the entire thing in less than a day.
I am really not a fanfiction reader, in general, but the idea of this particular pairing (Azriel and Eris) was so appealing that after hearing rave reviews about this fanfic, I gave in.
It was so much more than I was expecting...I was expecting a quick and dirty spicey read with some good banter, and what I got was a full length companion story to ACOTAR. The author was sometimes brutally honest about the flaws of the characters in a way that isn't portrayed in the original series, which I actually appreciated; a lot of the thoughts are ones that I'd already had.
Anyway, a great read. I'm sure it'll be trampled over when the next ACOTAR book comes out, but I really appreciated having the opportunity to get back into the world and see some actual LGBTQ+ representation.
