I guess I was expecting something else from this book. It`s great, but I think it focuses too much on the similarities and differences between geishas throughout Japan, instead of telling how one becomes a geisha. It is a difficult process that takes years, there are many different stages, from an apprentice to the main geisha in the okiya. Moreover, the book doesn`t present us with a schedule or a day in a geisha`s life, which I was looking forward to reading. Anyway, not too bad, although I do think that some crucial points were left out.
