Zodiac Dozen #2
Taurus
It's a simple life. Victoria spends every morning getting homeschooled by her father, and every evening re-watching old black-and-white movies. Outside of that basic daily structure, however, she hasn't had too many life experiences. She's never taken a weekend, never gotten the slightest injury, and never even walked outside of her space-safe compartment -- just like all the other kids living in her colony on the planet Venus.
However, all that's about to change when a dream she has of Earth causes a strange and shocking chain reaction. From an explosion that punches through a wall in her compartment and exposes her to the vacuum she's been living in, to a hole in the floor that lets her eavesdrop on her parents, to a boy attempting to make contact from Earth, the dominoes are all in place for Victoria's alien world to come crashing down around her. Hopefully, the friendship of the Zodiac Dozen will be enough to help her rebuild it.
The only problems are: she doesn't have a spacesuit, doesn't have a rocket, and doesn't know of any other way to get to Earth from her front door on Venus!

Victoria has been living on Venus with her parents her whole life, but after an incident where the family bathroom explodes. Her family decides to move to a new compartment but one of the members of the Zodiac Dozen comes to her and discovers that she has a super power if she sees the color red. Her family moves without her and Darius and his parents take her in and help her get acclimated to her new surroundings as they convince her she's on Earth and not on Venus. They find out her monthly dream is about a large blue being trapped on the other side of the moon. The second in the Zodiac Dozen series that strangely enough is a page turner, but it is very awkward with the adults in this story. Victoria keep her inside by her parents and told she's on Venus so she doesn't see the color red, while the Zodiac dozen solve the problem in a day. Darius's parents are nonchalant about taking care of a girl that they just met. It will still appeal to middle grade readers who like contemporary fantasy stories.

This was an exciting addition to the Zodiac Dozen Series! I think I preferred this slightly to the first book just because it was such an in-depth dive into one of the character's (Victoria's) life! I am excited to continue reading this series and learn more about these characters. Jeromy is my new favorite!
