Who uses the word ‘curmudgeon’ anymore?
Those are the words used to describe my new boss and some other less than flattering words. The new boss who doesn’t even know I’ve been hired to invade his private sanctum and run the show. I’m the new cook for Tobias Reynolds, a Montana Cowboy with a surly attitude. I shouldn’t work for him given my background, but my options are limited and it’s a temporary arrangement.
A violent man left me scars, mostly invisible ones, but they promise me that Tobias will never lay a hand on me. One look at my new boss and I know it’s not his anger I fear, but the raging desire for his touch coursing through me.

I’ve spent my time in the spotlight, but now I’ve gone back to my roots, working my family’s ranch. Some say I’m like a grizzly bear with a thorn in his paw, but I just want to work and go home to a good homecooked meal and some peace and quiet which has been hard to come by.
It’s not until she shows up that I realize how much more I want out of life. I’ll slay all her dragons, destroy her fears, and do all I can to get her to stay.

This was a great story..It had everything in it that you need. It was sweet, romantic, steamy, cute, safe and had action in it as well.😍😍 I loved how J/P and obssessed Tobias was. A sweet story for a cozy evening at home 😉

Big Sky setting
Great to see the Big Sky setting again. Tobias is cranky! Although, I feel he’s not really as cranky as the set up leads you to believe. Ava is perfect for him. Meeting by surprise, Ava and Tobias have a fun and accident prone beginning. Lots of action and some family drama. Epilogues way in the future. HEA.

“Why would I want to throw away the one person I know I can’t live without?”
Great story. Loved both main characters. Grumpy, grouchy Tobias gets brought to his knees by a strong, beautiful Ava. Neither virgins, both celibate (loved that), OM/OW drama (not by any ex's), some physical abuse in beginning by h's father, epilogues at 2 years and many years later.

"The town of Cunningham Falls is once again at the backdrop of such a fun story that had it all, heat, romance, some sweet and a lot of alpha male.
Tobias and Ava didn’t quite hit it off great off the bat, but man did they make up for it. Ava is running from an awful family and she ends up in Montana
Tobias, can’t keep a good cook/housekeeper, he just fired the last one and holds out no hope for his future. Until he lays his eyes on Ava, after a short time he realizes he has met the love of his life.
There is no one like C.M. Steele that can write an insta-love story that will make you fall in love with her characters.

Ava is on the run from her father, a prominent attorney in Indiana politics. He has become a different person after he married her stepmother, they are forcing her to marry someone and after he strikes her she knows she has to leave. She stops at the bank and a very kind teller, Marisa, helps her by giving her her sisters info in Montana to go to for help. She also takes security footage pictures of Ava’s injuries from her father in case they need them. She takes her time and arrives in Cunningham Falls, its by shear luck that Marisa’s sister Louisa and her husband John, (who is Tobias’ ranch foreman) find her sleeping in her car on a very cold night. They take her home with them and find out she is the girl that Marisa had told her about. She doesn’t know her name or who she is but is happy to help. Tobias is an ex-NFL player who quit to take over his family ranch. He has been having a hard time keeping a cook/housekeeper, they either want to become the next Mrs or are after his money. He finds his latest housekeeper in his bed with a married ranch hand. He fires both of them, but unfortunately the disgruntled housekeeper goes into town and tells all kinds of lies about him. And since he is pretty antisocial the town folks are ready to believe her lies. While he’s away visiting his sister and her family for Christmas John and Louisa decide it would be a great idea to give Ava the job as cook/housekeeper for Tobias. He is very surprised when he returns home and finds her living there. They both are instantly attracted to one another but fight it. They finally give in and their sexy times are hot. Both have been celibate for years. Drama with her dad and he uses the ex housekeeper to try to cause more trouble, but when the press shows up they tell them about her father and his abuse and how Tobias saved her. They get married to help protect her. Even more drama with Tobias’s stalker who her dad uses too. In the end all are dealt with including her father and stepmother. Epilogues with kids and them more in love than ever.
Usually with a C.M. Steele book you will get copious amounts of sex sometimes at inappropriate times but this story let the sex come naturally with the growing affection of the couple. Great balance of plot and sex.

While I liked Tobias and Ava and their love story I didn’t enjoy the unnecessary drama. It felt like it was full of drama just left and right.

I really liked this story. It fit right in in Kristen Proby's Big Sky Universe. The characters could have come right from her own work. This is my first time reading this author.
Tobias is a growly reluctant cowboy. But he has a great heart. Ava is on the run and it isn't until she meets Tobias that she feels like things can actually be ok.
Lotsa of flirting and romancing goin on with these two. We see the great Montana setting, meddling family members and friends, and small town characters.
There is a bit of ongoing drama with Ava's family. A little bit of insta lust. But, otherwise a very sweet read.

This is book two in the series and takes place 6 years after Lara. It can easily stand alone except that there is a side plot with some drama and its related to some stuff from the first book. I do think this book easily stands alone though.
This is Tobias' story and he is an ex football player who is a bit on the grumpy and grouchy side because he lives alone in a small town and runs his ranch by himself. His sister Lara lives with her husband and family in Chicago and we get to see Lara and Landon in this story as well. It was great to see how they are doing no that they have been married awhile and have a bunch of kids.
The story begins around Christmas and also continues into the new year . It has a bit of insta-love/lust when Tobias sees Ava for the first time. Ava is also a young woman who is single and comes from a family where she has been abused. So I just want to warn you that incase its a sensitive subject. Its more after the fact than during and is the reason that she takes off and ends up on Tobias ranch during the holidays. How she gets there is kinda cool.
This was a hot story and I loved how hard Tobias falls for Ava and how she falls for him as well. There is a little bit of drama with Ava's family and Tobias' stalker. He has a stalker from his football playing days and he also has some disgruntled employees. So they all add to the story and add some drama to this romance.

This was by first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It is written in first person from a dual POV.
Tobias is a grumpy cowboy who is trying to run his ranch after losing his parents. He has money from his previous career, and a low tolerance for those who don’t meet his expectations. He has a heart for family and would love to find the right woman and have a bunch of kids to fill his lonely house. I loved that he is tough, yet tender. I loved his strength, physical and emotional. I really adored that he fell for Ava at first sight and was a little goofy about it. He is possessive and a little alpha and exactly what I needed to read today.
Ava is on the run. She is beautiful, smart, and determined. I love how safe she feels around Tobias. I love the passion they share: their chemistry is strong and hot. I love when she allows Tobias to take care of her. I really enjoyed her character and how she also looks after Tobias.
The book has some suspense elements, some humor, and plenty of heat. Ava is running from an abusive situation, so some readers may want to be aware of that if it is a trigger for them. I thought it was handled very gently with the focus on Ava’s feelings rather than the physical harm. I look forward to reading more books by this author and more books from the Big Sky Universe. Who doesn’t love a good cowboy romance?

Tobias is in need of someone to cook and clean for him on his ranch. Ava is on the run from her family and she finds herself in Cunningham Falls, Montana. Tobias' right hand man finds Ava and offers her the job at Tobias'. The moment Ava and Tobias meet, it's obvious that they both are attracted to one another. Tobias is a former NFL player who came back home after his parents deaths to take over the family ranch. Tobias was very protective of Ava and showed her how much he cared for her. Ava loved living on the ranch, cooking, cleaning and just the freedom to do what she wanted. Tobias and Ava tried to be just employer and employee but they couldn't keep their attraction at bay. Tobias and Ava couldn't keep their hands off of each other. And their relationship moved at a fast pace because they knew that the would be together for the rest of their lives. There was some drama involving Ava's family and a crazy stalker that Tobias had. I loved that epilogues showed the immediate future and years later. I loved that the story took place in Cunningham Falls.

Gotta love those grouchy heroes! Tobias is a no nonsense boss who lays out his expectations clearly and from the beginning. When his cook breaks his final rule in a spectacular fashion he kicks her and one of his field hands out of his house and off his list of employees. He wishes he could find a good woman to make a life with but they are more interested in his wallet than anything else. Ava's life hasn't been peaches and cream. Circumstances and an abusive father and stepmother send her running to have a life of her choosing. Fate leads her to Tobias's ranch and a job as his cook. Tobias doesn't know what to make of Ava but his instincts are screaming that she is the one he has been waiting for. Can this situation be too good to be true? I loved this story! Both of them are vulnerable but not so hardened by life's trials that they turn away from the one thing they want most. I loved the attraction between them, the loving support. Such a great read, I hope we see more like this from C.M. Steele, she did a fantastic job! 6 stars!

This was a good book. I knew going in Tobias is grumpy guy, but in the beginning I wasn't sure how that man was going to win me over. Then Ava comes into his life and a new side of Tobias comes out. Though that man doesn't lose his caveman alpha side because he's super protective of Ava. Ava could use the protection because she's on the run and hiding. It's amazing how things work out sometimes and fate just intervenes at the right time. I loved the scenes with Tobias' nephews. It shows another side of him and what a great dad he will be one day. Ava captured my heart. There is some people in her life that karma needs to visit and serve some justice. It made my heart happy to see something special going her way. She's the perfect fit for Tobias. She softens his rough edges. This book also has a touch of suspense with a few nasty characters causing trouble. Pull up a seat and enjoy Tobias and Ava's journey. The epilogue left me with a huge smile on my face.

Former NFL turned rancher met a runaway teenager. The heroine was running from abuse and stumbled upon the H by some twist of fate. Attracted at 1st sight, the H didn't waste much time to get the ball rolling and paved their way to HEA, despite the outside force that trying to keep them apart.
The story was a classic OTT instalove in C.M.Steele style. A growly OTT alpha H and sweet as sugar h sucked into a whirlwind of a problem with some thrill here and there. The story was okay with lots of steams.

I enjoyed the conclusion of the Reynolds Ranch with the grumpy hot cowboy Tobias! Tobias can't seem to keep a cook/housekeeper with his grumpy attitude. He's had enough when he finds his latest cook and ranch hand in his room instead of doing their jobs. While away visiting his sister and her family for the holiday his foreman and wife come across a woman sleeping in her car during a snow storm and take her in and find out that she needs a place to stay and that she's a good cook. So they take it upon themselves to give her what she needs and gives her the job of cooking for Tobias. Their story will draw you in with the danger of a crazy father, a pissed off ex-employee and a crazy stalker.

Tobias is a grumpy and broody man who is back in his hometown to run his family’s ranch after his parents passed away, and from the moment he meets Ava his new cook, he can tell that she is broken and scarred from her past and is on the run. The chemistry between these two is intense and undeniable. This is a well written flawless story which is filled with action, drama, emotions, fun, family, friendships, and love, which all leads to a sweet and all-consuming tale which had me enthralled throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I always highly recommend.

Tackling Tobias was an incredibly cute and sexy story, Ava didn't have it easy with her abusive father but she had an escape plan and one that would take her to unknowingly to Tobias' ranch, yes he's broody and very alpha which is causing him to lose his staff constantly but when he comes home to find a new sexy but broken cook hes taken away by Ava's beauty and her gentle soul.
This is an insta-love book with some great scenes and I loved their dynamic and I'm so glad they get the happily ever after they deserve.
C.M Steele put so much depth into this book and I absolutely adored reading it <3 I can't wait to read more of her books.
This is an insta-love book with some great scenes and I loved their dynamic and I'm so glad they get the happily ever after they deserve.

As a part of the Big Sky Universe, Tackling Tobias was a really awesome read. As a (rightfully) stubborn, hard-headed, alpha, Tobias just wants what most people want. To be loved and wanted for him not his ranch or former career. When the clumsy but cute Ava happens into his life his world is finally set to rights. There are lots of funny and cute moments in this story and reading it makes me want to know about Tobias's sister and brother-in-law. It's an exciting read and lots of fun along the way.

Oh man I love a good grouchy man that ends up falling for a beautifully headstrong woman! The dynamic between Tobias & Ava was perfection, and there was no way Tobias was not going to fall head over heels for Ava. This was a great story full of all the steamy times with a side of super sweetness to round out an amazing romance. I didn’t want the book to end, but I loved the epilogues and the parts where we got to see Lara and Landon. Maybe some Reynolds Ranch second generation will be in the future?👀

I absolutely love Tobias. This was a hot story and I loved how hard Tobias falls for Ava and how she falls for him as well. There is a little bit of drama with Ava's family and Tobias' stalker. He has a stalker from his football playing days and he also has some disgruntled employees. So they all add to the story and add some drama to this romance.Tobias was very protective of Ava and showed her how much he cared for her. Ava loved living on the ranch, cooking, cleaning and just the freedom to do what she wanted.

This was sweet, sexy, and entertaining. I couldn't put this down. I love the insta-love aspect, especially for Tobias who was made out to be a grump who didn't like people. One look at Ava and he is hooked and I loved his protectiveness and need to keep her around. Their chemistry is sizzling and I practically couldn't put this down.

This has been on my TBR list for a while and I was waiting to free up the time it deserved.
Such a lovely romance with a bit of everything. The main thing though....Tobias is the man every woman dreams of meeting. At least he is for me. The heroine is sassy and sexy, the story is well adjusted and fulfilling.

The second Book in this series had all the steam of the first, but a little more drama thrown in, who doesn't love a Cowboy story when he is hot, dark and broody, add in the stalker that won't leave him alone and Ava dealing with own scars and tragedy, I loved the chemistry between these two, and the little drama along the way just added to another hit in the Reynolds Ranch series.
