This book was more interesting than I expected it to be. It's part of a "Know Your Government" series of books and appears to be put together by the INS itself, though it's published by Chelsea House. So I expected it to be dry. However, the bulk of the book is the history of immigration policy in the U.S. and I found it quite interesting and willing to stare unflattering biases straight in the face. The book was published in 1990 and thus is out of date, but it reinforces what is true today: we are a nation of immigrants highly conflicted about continued immigration.
