Mira was born in the Slovak part of former Czechoslovakia and has lived in various parts of Australia since 1968. Her parents were determined to give her and her sister not only good general but also spiritual education and enrolled them in a Catholic school in Hobart, Tasmania. The school fostered Mira's love of learning and sparked her curiosity about the existence of God and her purpose in life on this planet. Although Catholic education didn't provide her with sufficient answers, she resolved to keep searching for them.To this effect, she studied philosophy at the University of Sydney and became interested in the teachings of Buddha.
Life took a drastic turn in her late twenties, after the sudden death of her father. She was forcefully thrust into an unfamiliar world that would teach her, through personal experiences, about God and human existence in ways she could have never imagined. Work, life events and pressures caused her to become seriously ill in her early thirties. When the medical profession couldn't help her, she sought to heal through complementary therapies. The many healers also introduced her to the concepts of spirituality and helped her to understand that the human being is in the first instance a spiritual being having an experience in a human body, not vice versa.
Mira came to realise that she's on a complex spiritual path in her last life on this planet. She decided to write this memoir as a legacy of her considerable spiritual knowledge to help others make sense of their lives and progress their soul, as well as aid them to excellent health.
Memoirs are becoming another favorite genre for me. I love learning about the lives of people from around the world. The similarities and the differences amaze me. While I do not necessarily believe in everything Mira follows, I really like that many of her holistic approaches are considered complementary. I do believe there is much western medicine can learn from holistic healing combined with more traditional treatments. I also found the similarities between how Mira describes the blueprints of our current lives and past lives and that of Sylvia Browne's descriptions of the same.
This book felt like sitting down with someone who has truly lived through transformation. The author’s journey from Czechoslovakia to Australia isn’t just about immigration, it’s about searching for meaning after loss, confusion, and life-altering events. I found the reflections on karma, forgiveness, and spiritual laws especially thought-provoking. The way personal tragedy led to deeper spiritual awakening made the story feel honest and vulnerable. It’s not just a memoir, it’s an invitation to question your own path and reconnect with something deeper within yourself.
