The Purpose Ladder

Rate this book
What did you want to be when you grew up? What makes you feel connected to yourself? What does it mean for you to live authentically?

The Purpose Ladder is a poetry and short prose collection that takes you on a transformational journey from Nothing to Something to Everything.

Part I - Nothing, exposes the victim mindset of “things happen to me”. This section moves from the author’s experience as a struggling cleaning lady facing poor health and lack of direction. It unmasks how limiting beliefs around upbringing, trauma, illness, and money rule our lives if we let them.

Part II - Something, guides us on the way to cultivating the empowered mindset of “things happen by me”. In this section, we are inspired to reconnect to our passions and potential, put our talents at the service of others, and create meaning. Self-love, resilience, mindfulness, and awareness are presented as stepping stones on this path.

Part III - Everything, accompanies us on the way to embracing the aligned heartset of “things happen through me”. In this section, we connect deeper to ourselves, to others, to all there is. New definitions of success and happiness are suggested that inspire decisions taken from the inside out.

The Purpose Ladder starts with the author’s story and ends with yours. It is an empowering companion to motivate you on your way to a life of authenticity and purpose.

Valentina Quarta hails from a small village Southern Italy and has accumulated an experience of travel, personal suffering and self development over her years, leading her to pen this book which consists of poetry, longer prose and almost diary-esque entries. The book is split into 3 parts, or steps, whose 'purpose' is to relate wisdom, encouragement and inspiration upon the reader, all of which have been hard earned and searched for by the author through the course of her life.

The poetry on show is exquisite, with beautiful and often poignant metaphors creating magical lines and stanza that catch the breath and spark the mind. The language flows as poetry should and addresses the full spectrum of human experience and feeling. That alone would be sufficient to recommend the book, but what insists I encourage readers to pick this up is something that transcends the words on show.

Valentina has managed to impart a wisdom and insight within her work that many people could and would benefit from. This is understandable given her background in literature and psychology but the underlying message throughout the book of understanding, self analysis and internal assessment and acceptance is a message that is sorely needed in a society whose attention is increasingly directed outward.

It is entirely fitting that the 3 parts of this book are entitled Nothing, Something and Everything. For there is something for everyone here. And nothing to lose but everything to gain by reading Valentina's debut work.

A collection of poetry and short prose that takes us on a journey from nothing to something to everything.
I’m normally not the greatest poetry fan but boy this book changed my mind! Every single piece is a little gem of wisdom. My favourites were the rhyming ones as I somehow feel that musicality adds to the resonance of a message.
It’s like part 1 is you when you are letting your limiting beliefs and anxieties take over. Part 2 is when you build your inner coach, a self-developmental and motivational part. And part 3 is more spiritual, taking you to a deeper level of connection with yourself and everything else.

This book found me at the right time. The same as Velentina, I am in a search of self, authenticity and the value of one self in the middle of the noise of the modern life. Many readers can identify with the topics of the book, such as immigration, sense of purpose, rebelling against the noise of a society based on idea of consumerism and comparison, finding your path among all this and finding the courage to dream. It is, before anything else, an introspection, and a soulful talk with the readers. I connected with the message of the book, and I hope this will be the first of many successful books for the author.

This book is THE POETIC BIBLE OF SELF-DEVELOPMENT!
A true must-read, if you're on a self-development journey! Valentina magnificently curated her own personal stories and wove them into poetry and prose that educate, uplift and inspire to become more and more you. Her artistic and scientific sides meet as if the stars were to embrace an intimate dance with destiny, creating an atmosphere that leaves you wanting for more. Keeping in mind that this is the author’s deput work, I can only say with my utmost conviction this one will go far. The Purpose Ladder is only the beginning of the impact Valentina’s written words have on many hearts and minds including my own. THANK YOU for birthing this book into the world! We needed it!!

They say that we don't get to choose the books to read, they choose us. The purpose ladder chose me at the perfect time... Trying to believe more in myself, to reconnect more to my inner child, and to finally be the architect of my mind.
Thanks for reminder, Valentina!!

Spoiler alert: This book does help you reconnect to a sense of meaning and purpose!

Part one shows us the victim mindset of “things happen to me” and calls out our limiting beliefs sometimes starting from the author’s personal experience and her health and financial struggles.

Part two builds up the empowered mindset of “things happen by me” and brings our attention onto the mental tools that help us take back charge of our own lives, reconnect to our passions, finding contentment, courage, healing, impact, etc.

Part three takes us on a higher level of the ladder. Here our social identities don’t define us anymore and what matters most are alignment and connection. A new definition of purpose and success are suggested that immediately sooth the soul and just make a lot of mindful sense.
I’d say it’s a compound of old and modern wisdom, which at times rhymes.

The only thing I didn't prefer is that part three has much less space than part two and me being on a spiritual journey I resonated with part three the most. But the book still deserves all the stars.
