Outdated, and despite advertising it’s a book for first home buyers it is not that. This is one for investing in property with a HEAVY bias towards creating duplexes. Very much an advocate for “I did it, it works, you should too” as opposed to logic and reasoning. There are case studies, but this only helps to date the info further
Buy Now is a very good introductory text into the Australian housing market for both home owners and investors alike. Although nothing ground breaking it is a worthy starting point for anyone who wants to learn more. It's definitely more refined than his previous book positively geared however I have deducted marks because of his incessant obsession with recommending armidale NSW to buy property as an investment. sure, it has worked well for him and may do so for others but the property market changes from the time it is written and I don't think it is helpful to be naming locations which since become outdated. Overall the principles he provides are good and accurate but he oversteps a bit with the personal anecdotes and those of his clients. 3.5/5
Overall a decent read. A refresher on building an investment portfolio with property. The author discusses a few Growth Manufacturing strategies: 1) Renovation for Growth, 2) Subdivision and Duplexes, 3) High growth areas. Rather than just waiting for growth to happen over time.
Nothing new compared to his previously book and others in the market. A strong advocate for building duplexes (which worked for him in the past). The book kept recommending buyer's agents, which clearly is in his own best interest.
A helpful starting point for trying to understand the housing market and how to use it to invest for the future. However it is clear that it is also a marketing tool for the authors business, although it’s not necessarily a negative for the book it was obvious throughout that he was trying to upswell himself. Nonetheless a helpful start to understanding property investments.
A good introduction to owning and investing in property in Australia. Felt more like an advertisement for his business, rather than an unbiased look at investing in property. Have a read, but one of many books to have on your shelf.
