Resistance is futile. After Sarah McAvoy’s heroic efforts to save Reese Fitzpatrick’s family business—the Evergreen Resort & Retreat Center—the mountain lion that prowls beneath Reese’s skin rises to dominance. It prizes loyalty above all else, and it demands Reese claim Sarah for his own. But Reese had a front row seat to the heartache that comes from choosing a human mate, and he refuses to repeat his father’s mistake. No matter how brave Sarah proves herself to be. Unfortunately, the more Reese resists his nature, the more volatile the lion becomes. And when another man’s threats against the resort devolve into threats against the woman Reese has come to love, the mountain lion rises to make its ultimate move. It’s the age-old game of “predator and prey,” and only one alpha can survive. Fans of K.F. Breene and Kresley Cole will love this hot paranormal shifter romance! USA Today bestselling author A.S. Green lives in chilly Minnesota and spends the all-too-short summers on Lake Superior, which is the muse for her paranormal and contemporary romances. She writes complex characters, action-packed plots, and snarky in-your-face banter. And, of course, loads of steamy love scenes.
When she's not writing romance, she's probably watching Outlander or pleading (unsuccessfully) with her husband to don the kilt she bought him last summer.

"Mated or not, you're mine. Do you understand me? Mine to protect. Mine to serve. Mine to fuck."
4.5 stars!
Wow, I enjoyed this book so much more than the first! The pacing was much improved, and I feel like we got to know and connect with the characters so much more. The mystery surrounding Reese's father's death is slowly beginning to unravel even more while Sarah and Reese both fight to deny the mating pull they feel towards each other. I loved the angsty steam between them, although the scene with Lauren towards the felt way out of character and unnecessary. Overall, I am invested in this story and can't wait for the next installment♡
This is the second book in the Secrets of the Northland Shifters series, and it continues on from the first book. I loved how Sarah really begins to settle into her new found situation and grow in wonderful and beautiful ways. She is learning to be stronger, and with Reese by her side she can become even greater.
I loved this book, and that cliffhanger has me desperately wanting the next book. Knowing Ms. Green, it’s going to be phenomenal!
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.
1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

“Mated or not,” he said, thrusting into me again and again, “you’re mine.
Do you understand me?”
I understood. I tucked my head against his shoulder and dug my fingers into his back.
“Do you understand me?” he asked again, this time louder and through clenched teeth.
“Yes,” I said.
“Mine to protect. Mine to serve. Mine to f¿ck.”
“Got it,” I panted.
“Make sure that you do.”
Alpha Rising literally takes place minutes after the cliffhanger of Into the Lion's Den by A.S. Green. (If you have not read Into the Lion's Den first, I highly recommend you do!) While our first story with Reese and Sarah was slow-burn lust... Alpha Rising is high-octane carnal $exy times between Reese & Sarah...major swoon!! 🔥🔥 SO very much enjoyed this next story of Reese & Sarah!!
We learn a lot more about the mystery of the sabotage surrounding the Fitzpatrick Family & their Evergreen Resort. A.S. Green expertly dropping clues on who or what is doing the sabotage and still having you guess. We also experience Sarah opening up more to Reese and trusting him with her past. There is danger and action and alpha-growly moments.
☆This also ends on a big cliffhanger...!☆
However A.S. Green has promised all will be concluded in her next story: Mated to the Mountain Lion. It also looks like A.S. Green will be doing more stories in and around her Secrets of the Northland Shifters Series and not end it with the 3rd book...so that is exciting! 😊🌴🌺 I received an ARC for my honest review.
Tensions build, discovery and one secret revealed Alpha Rising (Secrets of the Northland Shifters Book 2) by A. S. Green is a continuation of building tensions that bring Reese and Sarah to the brink and start them on a path they can no longer ignore. The chemistry, already smoking, becomes combustible and undeniable, cementing the purpose in each other. Heat, heart, and protectiveness becomes accepted and at times brings Sarah and Reese to opposition, but is soothed thanks to that mating paranormal element. As Reese and Sarah get deeper into each other, the mysterious events of attempted sabotage are not solved, but more evidence is discovered. As the plot continuation from the first book, Sarah is even more determined to help and protect the Fitzpatrick Family. Reese isn't the only one with extreme protective urges! Sarah has some claws too, her bravery seems to grow a bit each and every day. As does her understanding of the actual world around her. Overall, the end is a cliffhanger, but in an anticipatory way! I am on pins and needles waiting and wondering exactly how all will be resolved. I have a theory or two and cannot wait to see if I’m right or in for a complete surprise! I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
Things are moving along with Sarah McAvoy being in on Reese Fitzpatrick’s secret now. But he is still resisting claiming her and his lion is not happy about it. Sarah is still trying to help save the resort. The mystery of Reese’s dad’s death is still a work in progress. Will they figure out who is trying to get the resort… and why?
I was not happy at Sarah’s absolute stubbornness in the situation with Lauren and the guy who bloodied her nose. She was so foolish charging in to beat the guy up! Sam tried to stop her, and fortunately had called Reese who arrived before Sarah could continue her insane and ill-advised attack. It’s one thing to be “tough”, but that was just plain idiotic and could have gone so wrong.
Sarah McAvoy now knows Reese Fitzpatrick’s secret, and even though there is incredible chemistry, sizzle, and steam, Reese resists claiming her as his mate. And that makes his lion very unsettled. Sarah is a super strong, smart, independent woman and impresses Reese and his lion. She is determined to help Reese and his family solve the mysterious problems at their resort. But there are more twists and turns to come. Ends on a cliffy and book 3 cant come soon enough. Well paced, solid read and both book 1 & 2 are available to read for free on Kindle Unlimited.

Alpha Rising is the second installment in this series and it is filled with all of the emotions. The siblings struggle to stay human and the alpha tries denying his feelings. Meanwhile our witness just can’t stay secret. There’s mystery, love, anger, protection and undeniable attraction. The ranch is under some kind of surveillance but they’re unable to find the source. Or are they looking too far away for the culprit?.

Alpha Rising is book two of the Secrets of the Northland Shifters series and it picks up where book one left off. This slow burn, shifter romance is Sarah and Reese's story. These two go through a lot in this book and I am loving the interesting storyline, the unexpected twists, and the mystery that makes this a page turner. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to find out how Sarah and Reese's story ends. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Reese’s lion wants Sarah for his mate but he fought it because of what his mother had done years ago. But Sarah even though she was put there under difficult circumstances was helping save the resort. Now they have to figure out who is after them for the resort land and why. Good book!.

Sarah and Reese's story starts off catching my attention and I wanted to keep reading. I liked that Sarah and Reese were both characters I liked and reading about them had a good mix of suspense and romance. I look forward to more books.

Another great book in this series. It’s the second book in the “Secrets of the Northland Shifters” series and picks up where the first book left off. Same great characters, with a few more added, and a few new secrets revealed. It’s a quick, fun read; not too spicy, and definitely makes you want to know what happens next. I highly recommend it!
The story continues in wonderful way and the Alpha tension is to die for. This author has an uncanny way of ending her books on such a note that leaves the reader begging for the next.
As a side note, im beginning to love the’stay tuned’ notes at the end. They remind me of those old cartoons ‘will the hero save the girl? Will the family fo xyz’ just tickles some sort of nostalgia.
I love this woman's conversations they always seem so real like I'm actually listening to people talking......and they are talking about shifters and fae...
